School Choice -

In this episode we are talking - and learning - about working together as a community to ensure all of our children / all of our students /  have access not only to education, but to a high quality education - whether that education be through a public school, private school or charter school.

Joining us on this episode of the Sunday School Show:

Vern Trent - The former director of school climate and safety from the School District of Philadelphia. Vern has nearly 50 years of experience in the public school system.

Eileen Dwell - Eileen has spent her entire career in education as a teacher, supervisor, school administrator, College Instructor and now Interim CEO of a Charter School. Dwell is currently the CEO of Maritime Academy Charter School

Mark Gleason - Mark is the Executive Director of the Philadelphia School Partnership.

The Philadelphia School Partnership is a non-profit organization that pools money from donors and invests that money to create educational opportunities and improve outcomes for low-income students.

Shamecca Holloway - What would the panel be if we didn’t hear from a parent that is in the thick of it. A parent feeling the frustrations shared by many in the Philadelphia public school system.

Shamecca has been a fierce advocate for her son Mason, but has been met with resistance. If the students and the parents are the customers , Shamecca is not a happy customer - When you hear her story you will understand why.

Shamecca's son Mason has suffered a permanent eye injury as a result of bullying by another student in a classroom Shamecca feels was under and inappropriately supervised.
