We have come to uphold to this truth as Christians because the Holy Scripture leads us to this conclusion. It is the Holy Scripture that proclaims to us that God is one “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one (Deuteronomy 6:4, NIV).” And it is the same scripture that testifies of the Son as God, “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor,Mighty God (Isaiah 9:6.” NIV).” Concerning the Holy Spirit, it is written, “You have not lied to men but to God (Acts 5:4, NIV).” Three persons have been Called God and we have been told we have one God. We uphold that to be truth that God is one and also other testimonies of scripture concerning three persons said to be God as true. Therefore, we believe the word of God for what it says and comfortably live that God is one but in three persons: The Father the Son and the Holy Spirit.
