When life is hard, the voice of self-pity says "Why is this happening? No one is helping me. I'm all alone. I am not loved. I do not have enough."
When life is hard, the voice of creation says "What now? Can you help me this way next time? I trust there is enough. I trust that it will be good."
Catherine's dad's favorite Easter song is an old hymn called In the Garden . Each chorus starts "And He (God) walks with me and He talks with me and He tells me I am His own. . ."
When life is hard, we either tune into the voice of self-pity or the voice of creation. Catherine encourages listeners to destroy self-pity by creating. By tuning into the voice of God, just like the hymn says.
