1:34
say what's up to Fire Nation
1:36
and share something that you believe
1:38
about becoming successful than most people
1:41
disagree with. Well, hello Fire Nation
1:43
and hello JLD. Yes. And I
1:45
would say that the thing that
1:47
I believe is that you can
1:50
take 150 days off per
1:52
year, including the entire month of August,
1:54
for Years
2:00
while building the business of
2:02
your dreams. Fire Nation
2:05
is possible. Geno is a living
2:07
walking, it's hot and example of
2:09
that. And that's what we're focusing
2:11
today on. How looking inward is
2:13
the key to unlocking true. Entrepreneurial.
2:16
Freedom. And I want to
2:18
start Chino by talking about
2:20
the three discoveries. Two. To
2:22
three your true self. Fantastic well
2:25
arms crew or contacts as we
2:27
go into this you know I
2:29
wrote this book out of Are
2:31
Calling and an awareness of just
2:33
watching all of the successful entrepreneurs
2:35
I've worked with. An experience that
2:37
I had where I kind of
2:39
got to the top of the
2:41
mountain as many successful entrepreneurs do.
2:43
I looked at what I've been
2:45
doing for thirty years and helping
2:47
these entrepreneurs build these empires gets
2:49
of the top of the mountain
2:51
and we tend. To get there
2:53
and feel Little M D unfulfilled. it
2:55
wasn't always thought it was gonna be
2:58
and if I had a nickel for
3:00
every time I heard someone say is
3:02
this off there is A And so
3:05
with that I described it as I
3:07
help entrepreneurs and have helped them for
3:09
almost three decades succeed in their outer
3:12
world by every imaginable metrics, building great
3:14
businesses, having great people, the money, the
3:16
stuff, the accolades. Well with that awareness
3:18
of getting the top of the mountain
3:21
and what happened for. Me about four
3:23
years ago. And that reaction
3:25
they're feeling, I realize that it's
3:27
now time to go into the
3:29
inner world of the entrepreneur and
3:32
help them master not only their
3:34
outer world, but their inner world
3:36
and experience more fulfillment, joy in
3:38
peace and what they're doing. It's
3:40
and the Ah is that it
3:42
is possible. To. Be driven.
3:45
and have peace it's not a choice
3:47
is not one of the other you
3:49
can have both and i did not
3:52
believe that was possible up until about
3:54
four years ago so conceptually that's what
3:56
this is all about and you're asking
3:58
about the three discoveries by chris three
4:01
discoveries out of having three
4:03
discoveries in the last four years as
4:05
I've kind of experienced my
4:08
awakening and going inward and
4:10
I call them the three
4:12
discoveries for freeing your true
4:14
self. And so the first discovery
4:16
I made is that
4:18
I am driven. And so
4:20
my guess, my assumption is
4:22
that your audience is comprised
4:24
of driven entrepreneurs. Yes. That
4:26
is my world. And
4:28
so step one is to just discover,
4:31
admit, realize, own the fact
4:33
that you are driven. And
4:35
knowing that we in
4:37
our circle celebrate that, truth
4:40
be told, it's a blessing and
4:42
a curse. And so the blessing we
4:44
know, we're born with superhuman stamina, we
4:47
can accomplish more than most, we're the
4:49
creators and builders of most things on
4:51
this planet. However, the curse, the dark
4:53
side, is that we tend to do
4:56
a lot of damage to ourselves mentally,
4:58
physically, and emotionally, as well
5:00
as to the relationships in our life.
5:02
And in understanding this, the idea is
5:05
just to accept it and understand it.
5:07
More importantly, understand and know that it's
5:10
genetic. You're born with this. It's not changing.
5:12
And there's a great book called Driven by
5:14
Dr. Doug Brackman. You don't have to run
5:16
out and read it, but he just proves
5:18
the science behind it. And so we, the
5:20
driven, are the 10% walking the earth
5:23
that are born with these genes. There's
5:25
a flaw in our gene that he
5:28
described. It's the D2D4 gene where we
5:30
just don't feel as fulfilled as most.
5:32
And so we're always looking for the
5:34
additional adrenaline hit, which leads us to
5:37
addictions, many of them, the main one
5:39
being workaholism. And we do that
5:41
to kind of numb our pain. The drive tends
5:43
to get us in a lot of trouble in
5:45
our lives. And with that, leads to a lot
5:47
of pain and trauma. And so
5:50
we tend to hide that. And in
5:52
this awareness, in this discovery, step one
5:54
is just to say, I am driven.
5:56
And it is an incredible blessing. And
5:59
unfortunately, there are... some curse and
6:01
downsides and I just need to be
6:03
aware of them, that begins the awakening
6:05
process. Let's keep moving to the other
6:07
two. Perfect, well discovery number
6:09
two is that all decisions are made out
6:11
of love or fear. Now this one goes
6:14
deep, but I'm gonna take you through a
6:16
fast version of it. You know your audience
6:18
better than I do and so you let
6:20
me know if I'm communicating well here. But
6:23
in discovery number two, it's this understanding
6:25
that all decisions are made out of
6:27
love or fear and so if you
6:30
think about we the driven entrepreneurs, we
6:32
are making so many decisions every day.
6:34
We have so many projects, ideas, things
6:36
and so there's so much going on. Well
6:39
when I say decisions, you can
6:41
also incorporate emotions, thoughts,
6:43
feelings and decisions. So with everything going
6:45
on with us all day every day,
6:47
it's either coming from love or fear.
6:50
In that basic understanding, love in its
6:52
simplest form is coming from our heart
6:54
or our soul or our true self.
6:56
Fear is coming from our ego and
6:59
when you understand that, you will
7:01
start to learn that your true
7:03
self is encased in this cocoon
7:05
that is your ego and it's
7:07
just simply protecting you. But
7:09
to take you all the way to the
7:12
root, it's understanding that your true self is
7:14
in there, it wants to come out, it's
7:16
this incredible soul. You have the
7:18
soul of a driven entrepreneur and it wants to
7:20
be free. So it is in there and it
7:22
wants to be free. Taking it down
7:24
another level is to understand that we are pure
7:27
energy and so some of us burn very bright
7:29
and some of us don't burn very bright. We
7:31
vibrate at a very high level or a low
7:33
level and when we're not shining bright and
7:35
we're not vibrating high, it just simply
7:37
means that we are blocked, that that
7:40
cocoon is very strong. It's just simply
7:42
the protective shell we created somewhere in
7:44
our life to protect us from ever
7:46
feeling pain and trauma again. When
7:49
you understand that, you then understand that you
7:51
can remove those blocks. You can remove that
7:53
pain and trauma. You can remove what the
7:55
ego is doing simply trying to protect you
7:58
by bringing down the cocoon. layers,
8:00
the protective layers, I call that shedding
8:02
layers. And then once
8:04
you understand that you can remove that and
8:07
free your true self, it just comes down
8:09
to awareness. And so the simple step in
8:11
this one is to just be aware of
8:13
all of your decisions, your thoughts, your emotions,
8:16
your feelings, and where they're coming from. And
8:18
the more you understand when it's coming from
8:20
love, when it's coming from fear, when it
8:22
comes from fear, you think go to the
8:24
root of the fear, shed that layer, break
8:28
down that cocoon, free your true
8:30
self, shine brighter, and start making
8:33
more love-based decisions, which a
8:35
simple 10% shift from love-based
8:38
from fear-based to love-based is a
8:41
monumental shift and is truly life-changing.
8:43
Well, keep it rolling. All right,
8:45
and then discovery number three is
8:48
the message behind all of this content
8:50
and this new book. And that is,
8:52
as I said, when we started, that
8:54
it is possible. The discovery is that
8:56
it is possible to be driven
8:58
and have peace. And
9:02
so most of us driven, the people
9:04
I work with, peace scares us just
9:06
from a standpoint of, we think that
9:08
finding peace, contentment, bliss,
9:10
we fear that peace is going
9:13
to zap us of our
9:15
drive, that somehow we're gonna lose our
9:17
edge, and for me, I
9:19
can speak firsthand. I really thought that if I
9:22
ever found peace, that I would lose everything. I
9:24
feared that I would wanna sit in a hut
9:26
and meditating all the other top of a mountain
9:28
when the reality is it's just the
9:30
opposite. By finding peace and
9:33
matching that with the soul of
9:35
the driven entrepreneur, our drive is
9:37
actually increased. When you find that
9:39
peace, when you shed that cocoon,
9:41
when you shed that layer, when
9:44
you shed those protective ego layers
9:46
and you shine, your
9:48
drive is actually magnified because now
9:50
your drive is coming from your
9:52
true self. It's coming from the
9:55
inside out, which is more of
9:57
a calling and a purpose-based drive.
10:00
as opposed to the outside in type of
10:02
drive where you're weighing it against what people
10:04
will think competition fears
10:07
Etc. And so again, I
10:09
repeat it is possible to
10:11
be driven and have peace It
10:14
is kind of crazy fire nation when you think about
10:16
the reality that so many people are
10:18
quote-unquote working so hard So that they
10:20
can one day Relax, but
10:22
then when they get to that one day of
10:25
relaxing they freak out because they're like, what do
10:27
I do? I've always had all these things doing
10:29
been so relevant in this world and There's
10:32
just a right way in a wrong way
10:34
to go about it So we're actually gonna
10:36
be talking about the ten disciplines for maximizing
10:38
both our impact and inner peace when we
10:40

13:46
slash FIRE. So you know we're back and
13:48
I kind of teased before the break these 10 disciplines
13:50
and I want to start off with
13:53
10-year thinking. Talk to us about that.
13:56
Yes, well as we dive into 10 the 10
13:58
disciplines I want to zoom out real quick. quick
14:00
just to create a little context again so your listeners
14:03
are following us because again the idea
14:05
here is about freeing your true self
14:07
and what we covered in the first
14:09
part with the three discoveries that is
14:12
the what and so the whole idea
14:14
is to hopefully convince you out there
14:16
that your inner story, the inner world,
14:18
there's an opportunity for you to feel
14:21
peace in that inner world and those
14:23
three discoveries again they're the what just
14:25
simply showing you and hopefully convincing you
14:28
to say you know what I want
14:30
to go inside I'm not as peaceful
14:32
as I could be below the surface
14:35
my tectonic plates are still shifting a
14:37
little too much there's anxiety there's worry
14:39
there's fear whatever it is and my
14:42
central nervous system is more amped than
14:44
it should be so I hope we've
14:46
created that awareness that's the what the
14:48
how now I'm gonna show you exactly
14:51
how to find that piece with these
14:53
ten disciplines because these ten disciplines what
14:55
they are are the foundation they're
14:58
the structure they're the opportunity for
15:00
you to create space and time
15:03
in your life to do this work
15:05
and when these ten disciplines are implemented
15:07
in your life you will
15:09
not only maximize and
15:12
master your outer world even
15:14
more again it's going to
15:17
help you master your inner world and find
15:19
peace and so picking up right with your
15:21
question you asked
15:23
discipline number one so discipline number
15:25
one is ten you're thinking what
15:28
I always love to do JLD
15:30
is just give a real quick
15:32
high-level overview of the
15:34
ten so that can actually your listener is
15:36
following and then please take us wherever you
15:38
want to take us you know them better
15:41
than I do but here are very quickly
15:43
the ten we call
15:45
them the ten disciplines for
15:48
maximizing your impact and
15:50
inner peace discipline number one is
15:52
ten you're thinking discipline number two
15:55
take time off number three know
15:57
thyself number four be still
16:00
number five know your hundred percent
16:02
number six say no dot
16:04
dot dot often number seven don't
16:07
do $25 an hour
16:09
work number eight prepare every night
16:12
number nine put everything in one
16:14
place and number ten be humble.
16:17
Fire Nation those are the ten disciplines I want
16:19
to kind of cherry pick a few that I
16:22
think are really impactful and of course Fire Nation
16:24
you can do a deep dive on all of
16:26
these because Geno has it all
16:28
for you and let's start off with
16:30
that ten-year thinking. Absolutely so whenever
16:32
I teach the discipline I always start
16:35
with a bold statement okay and the
16:37
bold statement is like if you were
16:39
just gonna trust me and believe me
16:41
and do this here's the discipline in
16:44
a nutshell and then I'll teach it
16:46
a little bit but the bold statement
16:48
is this shift
16:51
your mind from short-term
16:53
thinking to thinking in
16:56
ten-year time frames. Oh if
16:58
you would all just do
17:00
that so here's the reality
17:02
we driven entrepreneurs we
17:04
are wired to want everything now now now we
17:06
want it today this week this month and
17:08
rarely are we thinking out long
17:10
term and so the idea is
17:12
to shift your mindset to thinking
17:15
in multi-decade terms so
17:17
that what will happen for you
17:19
is literally you will feel a
17:21
calm come over you you
17:24
will have more clarity you will make
17:26
better decisions and you will literally get
17:28
there faster there's an old saying in
17:31
business that says people overestimate
17:33
what they can get done in a year but
17:35
they greatly underestimate what they can get done
17:37
in ten years there's a lot we can
17:40
do in ten years we can literally build
17:42
an empire in ten years and so the
17:44
whole idea here is just to shift your
17:46
thinking so that all of your decisions are
17:48
ten-year decisions. Fire Nation we've already talked a
17:51
little bit about taking time off how you
17:53
need to feel free to do that and
17:55
know you can still accomplish what you want
17:57
to accomplish knowing thyself
18:00
Being still these are skills you need to acquire
18:02
the next one. I want to dive deep into
18:04
is know your 100%
18:07
what's that all about you know glad you picked that one
18:09
so what that is, you know, so we're talking about managing
18:13
maximizing energy your impact your inner
18:15
peace and so knowing your hundred
18:17
percent is your work container and
18:19
so here comes the bold statement
18:21
the bold statement is decide
18:23
on and Commit
18:25
to the perfect number of
18:28
hours per week and
18:30
weeks per year that you will deliver
18:32
your craft to the world And
18:35
so here's the reality every one of
18:37
us driven entrepreneurs We have
18:39
a magic formula and it's different for
18:41
every one of us. So for me
18:43
personally, I work 40 weeks
18:45
a year 55
18:47
hours a week that has been my formula for
18:49
almost 25 years now And
18:52
so what it is as I said is
18:54
your work container It's just like
18:56
that gauge in your car that's showing
18:58
you maximum fuel efficiency Where
19:00
you step on that pedal just the
19:02
right amount you're getting the maximum fuel
19:04
efficiency same thing with us driven entrepreneurs
19:06
There is literally a formula that if
19:08
you work one more hour per week
19:11
You will start to burn out and
19:13
if you work any if you work
19:15
one less hour per week You will
19:17
start to get bored and so it's
19:19
about figuring out your perfect formula Some
19:21
of us need to be working
19:24
30 hours a week. Some of us
19:26
need to be working 80 hours a
19:28
week There's no one formula. We are
19:30
all different. So just simply know your
19:33
hundred percent fire nation say no Often
19:36
I like to say to my audience You
19:38
know that when you say yes to one
19:40
thing you're actually saying no to everything else
19:42
you otherwise could be doing during that time
19:44
So a yes isn't just yes, like it's
19:46
a huge decision. Don't do $25 an hour
19:48
work fire nation I
19:51
mean, I don't think he became an entrepreneur to make $25 an hour. Let's be
19:53
honest I want
19:55
to dive deep into the next one because this
19:57
is a phrase that I really adhere to which
19:59
is for me I always say
20:01
win tomorrow today and you have
20:04
a phrase prepare every night
20:06
to talk about that. Love it so
20:08
yeah so this is discipline number eight
20:11
prepare every night so let's start with
20:13
the bold statement and the bold statement
20:15
is before your head hits the pillow
20:18
every night document the
20:20
next day's plan so
20:22
it's just like you said and so
20:24
the idea is when your day ends
20:26
and before your head hits the pillow
20:29
lay out tomorrow in chronological
20:31
order and so you can
20:33
do this in any type
20:35
of platform technology I
20:37
literally use a legal pad to this
20:39
day 35 years I have my trusty
20:41
legal pad and so what I will
20:43
do is I will sit down close
20:46
out the previous day and then I
20:48
will just lay out tomorrow chronologically
20:50
start to finish the projects I have
20:52
to complete the calls I need to
20:55
make meetings etc it's all laid out
20:57
for me the power of this is
21:00
that you will literally sleep
21:02
better you will
21:04
wake up with ideas because your subconscious
21:06
is already working and you will wake
21:08
up and hit the ground running you
21:10
will be more productive the alternative is
21:13
what many do and that's not prepared
21:15
for the next day wake up and
21:17
just simply let the world come at
21:19
them wake up start looking at emails
21:21
checking things all of a sudden
21:24
you have completely lost control of your day
21:26
you have handed your your day over to
21:28
the rest of the world and so it's
21:30
all about taking control of your time so
21:32
again you can hit the ground running fire
21:34
nation do you want to live a
21:36
life where you are just reactive where
21:38
you are just literally on a whim
21:40
of everybody else's demands or you want
21:42
to live a proactive life I think
21:44
you know the answer now putting
21:47
everything in one place that's
21:49
something that you need to dive in deeper on fire
21:51
nation and I want to end with a bang genome
21:53
number 10 which is be humble because
21:56
my uncle for the longest time when I was growing
21:58
up you know I was you like the
22:00
starting point guard on my basketball team at
22:02
16 years old as a sophomore, so I
22:04
thought I was like cool stuff. And I
22:06
remember walking around and my uncle was like,
22:08
hey John, be humble, be happy. And he
22:10
would just always repeat that phrase to me
22:13
over and over again. Until
22:15
I started really to equate the
22:17
words of being humble and
22:19
being happy as something that were synonymous.
22:21
And it really sunk into me, not
22:23
immediately, but thankfully it did and
22:25
over a little bit of time. And then of course
22:27
I've learned some experiences the hard way as well, which
22:30
is reinforce this. So
22:32
talk about being humble. So
22:35
discipline number 10 is be humble.
22:37
First the bold statement and the
22:39
bold statement is to view yourself
22:42
as an equal to every person
22:44
on the planet. So there's
22:46
a great quote by C.S. Lewis that says, being
22:49
humble is not thinking less
22:51
of yourself, it's thinking of
22:53
yourself less. And so
22:55
what I always urge the listener to do and
22:57
helping to understand what we mean by this is
23:00
if you picture a spectrum, and on
23:02
one end of the spectrum is the
23:05
word humble, on the other end of
23:07
the spectrum is the word arrogant. And
23:09
if you can picture that, everyone is
23:11
somewhere on that spectrum. And the irony
23:14
is the definition of humble and the
23:16
definition of arrogant are almost identical. They
23:19
are the estimate of your
23:21
importance in comparison to others.
23:23
And so it's how important
23:25
you feel in comparison to others. And
23:28
so simply put humble people just
23:30
don't feel like they're any more important than
23:32
anyone else. And arrogant people tend to feel
23:34
they're more important than others. But here's the
23:36
beauty of the spectrum. If you really wanna
23:38
put your money where your mouth is and
23:41
understand this very powerful discipline is
23:43
think about where you are and just put a
23:45
hash mark on the line. And if you really
23:47
wanna put your money where your mouth is, go
23:49
to the five people in your life that you
23:52
love and trust the most and
23:54
ask them to put a hash Mark on the line
23:56
for you. And Then you'll know how you're really showing
23:58
up in the world. But I Just... Personally
24:00
believe that a humble wife is
24:02
better. You attract what you are
24:04
and so humble people a track.
24:06
Lots of other humble people in
24:08
arid arrogant people just tend to
24:10
attract lots of arrogant people. Am.
24:13
And then I always just like to share
24:15
this last little point in that his gratitude.
24:18
Dips. The that the way to
24:20
help become humble is to just
24:22
practice gratitude every night when your
24:24
head hits the pillow after you've
24:27
prepared for the next day. By
24:29
the way off just simply saying.
24:32
Be. Grateful appreciate.
24:35
Whatever. It is in. It's
24:37
utterly impossible. I have found
24:39
to practice gratitude. And
24:41
be arrogant. So there's discipline
