How do you view your brain? How do you view your body?

When you think about your brain and your body, are you separating the two?

Over the years, I have had to be intentional about reminding myself that the two are connected. Mind and body go hand-in-hand and work within and around each other every.single.day. 

This week is the fourth week in our podcast series: The Brain Science of Success. I’ve invited some of my colleagues and leading doctors to come talk with you over the next few weeks about how to maximize the power of your brain to work for you - and not against you! 

In this week’s episode of the Epic Success Podcast, I talk with Dr. Jen Esquer about the connective piece between mind and body. 

Dr. Jen (known as Doc Jen Fit) is a top-40 physical therapy influencer with a doctorate in physical therapy, and she is currently ranked as one of the Best Fitness Trainers. Dr. Jen is a mobility expert who helps people to connect the mind and the body so that they can move into the most creative and focused version of themselves.

• “Pain is interconnected to the body, mind, and lifestyle. It’s not just physical.” 

 

Sometimes we get into a mindset that separates the mind and the body. We look at pain, stress, and circumstance as solely physical or solely mental and we often forget that mind and body go hand-in-hand. When we are aware of how our brain and body work together, we open the door to opportunity and take the power and control back into our hands so we can create the life we really want. [3:40] 

 

• “It is not about the money or the results, it’s about what you are willing to step into.”

 

Everybody is wanting the magic blue pill or the big secret that will fix and change everything in an instant. That magic thing doesn’t exist. You have to be willing to step into who you want to be and do the work around your thoughts. Recognize and be aware of the negative, self-sabotaging belief, then refute it and rewire it! When you are the creator of your thoughts, you will create the life you’ve always dreamed of having. [11:45]

 

• “We can either react to what we are doing or we can respond.”

 

There is a difference between reacting and responding. When we react, we are oftentimes not thinking or processing the situation. When we respond, we are intentional and aware and are slowing down and truly deciding the best way to respond to that situation. Reacting tends to lead to high stress, comparison, and overwhelm. Responding leads to intentional decision making, creating meaningful service, and staying aligned with our vision. [28:02]

You have the ability to connect your mind and your body to work together so that you can live in the best version of yourself and you can start doing it today.
