Episode 051 | Time Management as Part of a Self Care Routine for Special Needs Moms: Let's Get Real with Cristin Condin

Listen in as Cristin Condin joins us to share her invaluable experiences, transitioning from a speech and language pathologist to a life coach (and a decluttering background to boot!) with a heart for special needs moms.

Together, Cristin and I unpack the the unique challenges of raising children with disabilities. Cristin, with her own journey as a mother to a child with Down syndrome, understands the struggles and triumphs of managing time and maintaining personal identity beyond the role of caregiver. Her insights provide a beacon of hope for those feeling overwhelmed by the mental load and the guilt of seeking personal time.

Our conversation takes a turn towards the practical strategies that can make a significant impact on the daily lives of these moms. Cristin emphasizes the power of systems and automations to reduce decision fatigue. She shares tips on adjusting expectations and the importance of flexible routines to better handle unexpected crises. And, finally, we explore the necessity of self-compassion and giving oneself permission to step back when needed -- how we can do that without the added shame and guilt that comes up right behind it sometimes.

Cristin is a single mom of 3 amazing young adults. With two decades of experience as a pediatric speech-language pathologist, Cristin transitioned into the world of coaching moms of kids with disabilities. She's deeply committed to helping fellow moms of kids with disabilities nurture their own well-being while advocating for their children. In her diverse toolkit, you'll find a blend of life coaching, meditation, restorative yoga, and somatic practices, as well as her own experiences raising her 19 year-old son with Down syndrome. Cristin strongly believes that moms should take care of themselves as much as they take care of everyone else. You can find her on instagram @cristincondon.

If you could go back in time to when your child was first diagnosed with a disability, what would you tell yourself?

I would LOVE to hear from you!!

And finally, if you have been wondering how long you need to keep certain documents, whether its a utility bill, and IEP, medical records, or an insurance policy, I have a quick and accessible one-page document for you to download that shares exactly how long you should be holding on to these items and when you can let them go (e.g. shred and/or recycle.)

Click here to get on my email list and I will send this handy doc straight to your inbox.

And I promise I won't start bombarding your inbox with emails -- that is not my style! I just want to be able to stay in touch and keep you informed occasionally of resources to help you reclaim whatever it is YOU need!
