A quick stop here at the sub-district De Waterkant. You’re now walking in the most fashionable area of Cape Town.
De Waterkant experienced a rebirth starting only a decade or so ago. Renovation to the former slave houses began, cafés and coffee houses opened, interior designers opened studios and before anyone knew it, the area was transformed into one of Cape Town’s most finest historical neighbourhoods, which is now protected as a National Preservation Area.
It’s the history that dominates the ambience in De Waterkant. The original cobbled streets and the traditional 18th and 19th century’s traditional Cape Dutch and English Georgian architectural styles, the beautifully restored cottages and villages are very pleasing to the eye. Keep on strolling around when you walk to the next stop.
