A little whimsy, now and then, makes for good balance. Theoretically, you could find this type of humor anywhere. But only a topflight science-fictionist, we thought, could have written this story, in just this way…. This week is a story from another legendary writer, Philip K Dick, called They Eyes Have It.
Originally published in 1953 in “Science Fiction Stories”.
Philip K Dick is an American writer known for his fiction exploring everything from altered realities to questions around the human condition. Possibly best known for his story, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, which went on to become the sci-fi film classic Blade Runner.
In this story we get a glimpse at a masterful shift in perception with a humorous twist as he examines some common phrases in the English language.
