Absolutely love this podcast! Every one of the players does an amazing job, and each one has a unique spin on their character, not to mention the GM who is able to effortless weave these stories around such powerhouse roleplayers.
I started listening to Faeforge Academy back in early 2020 (with episode 1). I was hooked immediately and was itching for more. It's not smash and bash D&D, it's thoughtful, fun and playful. It has moments of darkness that make it's bright spots shine. You'll care not only about the characters, but the NPCs too. Steven is a note perfect DM giving his players space to explore and an ever expanding world to live in. The cast is diverse, loveable and creative in their own right. This world is a true collaboration.
Warning this podcast is gripping I have had more than one night where just one more episode ended up with me still awake hours after I meant to stop. That said I regret nothing the joy I have gotten listening to this more than makes up for being a little sleepy. The setting uses a lot of tropes of a magical Academy but makes it feel fresh and engaging. The chemistry between this cast and their characters is really what makes this podcast shine. It is so charming it has burrowed it's way into my heart with how much I love the PCs particularly Sepia and Besky. If you only have time for a couple of TTRPG actual play podcasts this should be one of them.
In today's world of a plethora of D&D themed podcasts, Faeforge Academy takes a different spin, infusing a magical academy setting with the magic of the feywilds. The cast does an amazing job weaving a story that never fails to pull me in and makes me feel like I am there with their characters experiencing every moment.
Faeforge AcademyThis is so awesome. Thank you!
One of the most thoughtful and innovative DMs in the game.
I've always been a fan of magic schools but this has to be one of my absolute favorites. The way Stephen weaves the strands of this world that bind the characters together as they explore ways to solve their many mysteries is a beautiful thing to watch. Add in the wonderful music and sound design...perfection. I binged it. So should you.
Faeforge AcademyAhhhh! Thank you!!!
Engaging cast in what promises to be a fascinating setting and plot.
The Faeforge Academy is a "What if...?" form of a TTRPG. Yes it is based upon D&D, but it doesn't fully limit the Spellcasters to what you would think: Master-Apprentice arrangement. It is more like a Harry Potter type of school for Spellcasters, but more in the flavor of F&SF Ficton. It follows the adventures of 5 students throughout their time in the Academy, while it is in its beginnings, I can see a long run for this one. The chemistry between the players & DM, is such that most DMs would love to have with their players. The 5 students do have some growig pains, but these are realistic for the characters. I wholeheartedly recommend this podcast to anyone and everyone.
An Unforgettable and Dreamlike TaleOne thing that stuck out to me when starting Faeforge Academy was the whimsical sense it portrayed. From the theme music, to the mystical setting, to the wonderful characters introduced. There was a sense of wonder and fantasy that was instantly setup for you to just immerse yourself in as they figured out how to get into this academy. The players do a great job having their characters setup and personalities fleshed out as they step into this tale and the useage of the crafting system is a really great point in giving the players desires and goals more life and meanining! They bounce off one another quite well and are comfortable diving deep into the roleplaying and discovering more and more about one another alongside you the listener. Stephen himself does a great job with building the scene and walking with the players through it, leaving room for them to tell the story alongside him. If you're looking for a tale of a magical academy with dangers lurking around the corner, a mystical setting that brings forth excitement and wonder, and the great characters who are yearning to reach their potential, then make sure you find yourself a tree and slip on into the Faeforge Academy.
Faeforge AcademyWow. This is really meaningful. Thanks so so much.
The podcast is extremely well done and a blast to listen too. But the people behind it, that's what makes this podcast so very special. I look forward to each episode drop.
Top notch podcast. Really a fan of digging into this expertly played show with a great story and a unique flavor. The pod only loses a star for early audio problems that made it hard for me sometimes to keep sticking through.
Faeforge AcademyThanks so much for journeying with us! Definitely has been a learning experience on the audio end but we are continuing to improve. Hoping down the road to remaster the early episodes too!
I love the character interactions on this podcast- each player does a fantastic job of creating a unique and engaging character that interacts with their surroundings in intriguing ways.
LOVE THIS PEOPLE LOVE THIS JOURNEY.Everything is absolutely good and the story is very captivating.
Love this podcast. The smaller intro episodes really help you immerse yourself in the character's lore. Episode 1 was great and can't wait for more. Give it a go!
The Faeforge Academy presents a interesting take on your standard actual play podcast. The musical score pulls you out of your chair, your chair or wherever you are listening to it, and into the world the players are in. The characters are all unique, quirky, played wonderfully by the cast. My personal favorite is Michael who plays Besky. Anyway, I really hope others give the Academy a shot because the story, the music, and the characters play a concerto Mozart would be proud of.
Faeforge AcademyThanks so so much for your kind words! We will keep the story coming!

You can stop looking now! I tried so many ttrpg podcasts, and consider myself fortunate to have stumbled across a listicle that mentioned Faeforge, which quickly became my favorite. I love the incredibly talented diverse cast. The PCs and so many NPCs are all so charming. As they note in one of the episodes, this is a ttrpg podcast you could share with your mom (though I would recommend only doing so if you are willing to have your mom get hooked on it)! It's that good--mom-tested and kid approved!
A magnificent podcast with great music, great story, and great people!
