This second Sunday in Advent is the Sunday called “Peace.” Change can happen in our world, not just by protesting, or winning elections, or lobbying those in power.

But the real change, the real power comes when people recognize each other’s shared humanity, each created in the image of God, serving one another, being served by another, putting aside egos and agendas, learning from those who are different from us, hearing stories that may disturb us and opinions that infuriate us, then finding common connection, finding friends in the unlikeliest of places, and the spirit of the Lord resting upon us.
