So whether its wrapped in bacon, covered in cheese, doused in mustard or ketchup, piled high with chili or peppers – or whatever the toppings, the hot dog can be found all throughout the United States in its various forms and interpretations.
Most people may not want to know what’s inside their hot dog. Essentially it’s this intestine encased flavor bomb, that we the hot dog, but it’s certainly a coveted part of this country’s national cuisine. As popular as this food item is, it’s not native to the USA, as the roots of this quintessential baseball companion go back centuries with its origins in western Europe.
