Are you struggling with motivation in life or even just in exercise? Julia Ryan is here to share how she keeps her passion in the midst of pain and transitions.
Julia Ryan is national champion and coach in Olympic weightlifting, a Ph.D. Candidate in Clinical Psychology, and a devoted dog mom. Julia has been weightlifting since 2013, and in that time she has amassed some impressive achievements, including gold and silver finishes in the past three years at the provincial championships, and most recently her first gold medal at Nationals 2018.
Julia also likes to share her passion and knowledge for weightlifting by coaching athletes of all ages and levels. When she's not lifting, Julia is working on her research dissertation on ADHD and completing her predoctoral internship at the Ottawa Carleton District School Board, where she helps assess and treat students with a range of mental health concerns.
In this episode, you will learn how to pick the right exercises for your body, how to lift for your best health, and how to develop a positive mindset. Listen to start taking your negativity and turning it into motivation.
“It’s okay to care about how you look… For me personally, though, it’s been so much more motivating to focus on what my body can do.”
