With his global perspective, the entrepreneurial-minded Martinez is a recognized expert in the cannabis startup arena and has ideated, launched and successfully built several startups in the space. His successes and unique perspective in the cannabis industry has led to numerous speaking engagements across the US and several publications to his credit and even the launch of his wholly owned media channel, Weed To Know Basis, which is known as the worlds first media channel dedicated to the cannabis startup entrepreneur. His career has focused on healthcare and more so in developing efficient, scalable and profitable methods to impact not only the general public in a positive way but also the shareholders he has served. He launched his business career by founding Medtrust, LLC in early 2001, one of the nations largest healthcare staffing firms serving the DoD and growing that to over $52mm topline revenue before selling the company in 2014. Shortly after the exit his cannabis business journey began and he founded Texas’ first ever cannabis business incubator and the only the 9 th in the country at the time of it’s founding. Martinez was named his city’s “40 Under 40” and he was also awarded the prestigious Jefferson Award for Public Service highlighting his work with disabled US veterans. He holds a four year nursing degree, BSN, and served as a US Army officer shorty after 911. He is married to Lisa and has three grown children.
