FirstWoman; Shattering the Brick CeilingIn the light of the recent events further highlighting racial inequality and the huge challenges faced by the BAME community I want to explore how, despite the backdrop, there are women out there who continue to triumph over adversity and act as an inspiration for the next generation of BAME women who are just starting out in their careers. My 3 guests have diverse backgrounds and are at different stages of their careers but what unifies them is that they have all achieved success against the odds; two of them being the First Black Woman in their company. They are ordinary in the sense they are not Business Icons or Celebrities but they are extraordinary in displaying how drive, tenacity and resilience can win throughDuring the podcast the term Brick Ceiling is used to explain how doubly hard it is for BAME women to succeed in the workplace having not just the gender issue to navigate but also coming from a minority with all the misperceptions and stereotypes that brings. In this podcast they talk about their experiences and challenges, how they have got to where they are, what they have learnt along the way and their vision for gender and race equality.
