She realized she wanted to have deep conversations with her patients about nutrition and lifestyle, so she left her job which didn't promote that. Almost simultaneously, she began talking to many women. These women, like Cynthia, had just been told that they had to accept they'd gain weight in their 40s. Cynthia wasn't satisfied with this. Cynthia doesn't want women to feel like they must apologize for being women. INTERMITTENT FASTING TRANSFORMATION https://cynthiathurlow.com/book/ Jason Fung wrote an endorsement of the book. Many women feel slaves to their scale, to counting calories, and to their treadmill. Cynthia believes this is very destructive and wanted to figure out sustainable ways to help women feel good about themselves and be healthy. If can be a great way for women to lose and then sustain their weight. Approaching health and medicine holistically is so very important. She realized many of her patients' total cholesterol levels were very low and they were on statins. This is a marker of morbidity and health issues. For diabetics, she found that statins could really hurt. We need cholesterol for our bodies to live and build. Fasting in women, we need to lean into our physiology. For example, things are different for women during their menstrual cycles. Estrogen and progesterone are important and make a big difference.
