hey it's gonna it's I'm. Sitting here listening to

0:14

fully is pod and of course we

0:16

couldn't do it without the Hall of

0:18

Famer himself. the hard core legend. Ladies

0:20

and gentlemen Mister Mick Foley make our

0:22

you man are going great Conrad Looking

0:25

forward to a. Monumental.

0:27

Final is the final episode. It is a

0:29

Follies pod said you want to get the

0:31

bad stuff out of the way for Wow

0:34

Man there's been a lot of news and

0:36

and we're excited to be on the road

0:38

to Wrestlemania and that's our topic today. We're

0:40

going to be talking about some of your

0:42

favorite Wrestlemania moments, but. For. Better

0:44

or worse, Vince Mcmahon was a large part of

0:46

that and he's been in the news this last

0:48

rivals. He sure was. man. Who's

0:51

a huge part of it? Yeah, His

0:54

belief in may made all the different

0:56

to the world from just be in

0:59

another guy to be in you know

1:01

one of his main guys during that

1:03

attitude era and that you can tell

1:05

if anyone who's listen to a single

1:07

episode knows the great fondness I have.

1:10

For. Mr. Mcmahon. Ah,

1:12

But the. Fishes.

1:14

I don't know all the facts, right man?

1:17

It's. Really ugly?

1:19

Yeah I'm I feel

1:21

some very similar. Christlike.

1:25

That dead inside feeling the way

1:28

I had in two thousand and

1:30

seven after the the Bad More

1:32

murders. And. Ma'am.

1:35

I just. I.

1:38

Hope it doesn't take away from

1:40

people's amazing memories of all the

1:42

things that Mr. Mcmahon. Created

1:45

or Help Create Including you know my

1:47

my character and the programs and I

1:49

was in. He was such a big

1:51

part of it. Ah to I wish

1:53

she'd really just stepped aside. You.

1:55

Know. The. First time we

1:57

just heard a little. Hint

2:00

of these allegations. Ah I'm and

2:02

I believe you brought up there

2:04

were on the Rain hotline yeah

2:06

when you're talking with the Jaffa

2:09

with some Eric Iraq now yeah

2:11

I was a volunteer on wine

2:13

for two years so I know

2:15

the great work they do and

2:17

have somebody is I have in

2:19

the workplace. Difficulty. Ah,

2:22

Or ah, Has

2:25

eight as a difficulty in their

2:27

personal life for family law Kremlin

2:29

lie for our or have been

2:32

See ya. Survivor. Of

2:34

our an assault than Rain or

2:36

A I am and.org is A

2:38

is a great place to go

2:40

to look for help. And one

2:43

of the big differences they have

2:45

now that they did not have

2:47

when I was on the hardline.

2:49

Ah Maskell back twelve thirty years

2:51

since I did the hotlines odds

2:53

they did not have the means

2:55

to safely and anonymously have a

2:57

chat room for survivors. and now

2:59

they do. And that's huge

3:02

because I did a lot of reading,

3:04

lot of studying, and I tried to

3:06

be the best volunteer I could. but

3:08

I don't I haven't been in their

3:10

shoes, right? So if we got a

3:12

rain.org you not only can talk to

3:14

a train the I volunteer, but you

3:16

can talk amongst other people who may

3:18

be in the same situation that your.

3:22

Well, sad and we know where you are on

3:24

that sort of vague and all the great work

3:26

you've done with Rain and I think we all

3:28

agree we just want to serve. To. And

3:30

as best as a key and ah

3:32

for all involved. yeah and for the

3:34

never happens yes obviously never happen again.

3:36

we we should talk about some good

3:39

stuff and God and wrestling would you

3:41

do our are pretty fun Royal Rumble

3:43

record setting or Rumble. Cody Rhodes wins

3:45

again. Back to access and yeah little

3:47

surprise of the lady sad Vallely came

3:49

out victoria whatever show where I didn't

3:51

see the show is on the road

3:54

and had one of the drawback so

3:56

I why did not see it and

3:58

in fairness there were few. people I

4:00

saw at the con who invited me to watch it

4:02

but then when it rolls around 7 p.m. and you're

4:05

just in your bed yeah you

4:07

said cons can take a lot out of you

4:09

you know it's like a marathon no it's not

4:12

a marathon because I can do three days of

4:14

the con I can't run a marathon but

4:17

it is you need some energy to go out

4:20

there and I just I just I

4:22

just didn't watch it yeah so I

4:24

was I really wanted to see

4:26

Becky and mommy and

4:29

I don't know if that's going to

4:31

happen now it's always an interesting couple

4:33

months to see how something that technically

4:36

should be died in

4:38

the world you know once you know

4:40

once you establish that boom off and

4:42

running I've sometimes wondered if maybe the

4:44

rumble should be the the

4:46

pay-per-view in February yeah so

4:49

that the momentum I

4:51

have seen the momentum die yes

4:53

and I've seen the the stipulations change

4:55

so much that you wonder why there

4:58

was even a rumble winner wow but

5:00

um you know when that did

5:02

you make the I think

5:05

the most glaring player

5:08

I'm thinking there were obfuscation even though I'm

5:10

probably not ever using it correctly was when

5:12

it was set I think in 2004 to

5:14

be a singles

5:18

match and then Shawn Michaels super

5:21

kicked one of the participants assigned

5:23

his name and I thought how did that

5:25

that's legal I don't know if that's legally

5:27

binding but

5:31

it should be interesting I mean it's it's it's

5:33

a call it the road to WrestleMania I don't

5:36

know if they've ever given moments

5:38

thought to having the rumble in

5:40

January I mean in February and

5:42

said January because it is sexual

5:44

it's a great to me

5:46

it's a great service for the

5:49

wrestling community yes because we're talking

5:51

about the doldrums yeah talk about

5:53

late January through these are the

5:55

dreariest months of the year yes

5:58

and having the rumble and You know

6:00

that it's mania

6:02

but it's also springtime. I

6:04

think it's been a great service

6:06

for people to have something besides

6:08

the Super Bowl to get excited

6:10

about. Yeah. No, I totally agree.

6:13

Well, the world wants to know what's

6:16

going to happen with Cody Rhodes, of

6:18

course, Seth Rollins as we're recording this,

6:20

planned his case on Monday Night Raw

6:22

saying Cody should challenge for

6:24

his belt, the quote unquote workhorse belt,

6:26

the Dusty belt. And

6:29

a lot of people wonder, does

6:31

Cody go with Roman or does he go with

6:34

Seth? I think a lot

6:36

of people would see the story not

6:38

being complete unless it's Roman. Right. But

6:41

we have heard rumors out there that Roman

6:43

might be occupied on mania. What

6:46

do you think about the rumor that perhaps

6:48

The Rock would be involved in wrestling? Well,

6:50

going back way over to a

6:52

similar place last year, a

6:54

year ago, although we know we're talking

6:56

Clash of the Castle and

6:58

you asked me if I

7:00

thought Drew McIntyre should have been put over and

7:02

I said it remains

7:05

to be seen if Roman holds

7:07

the title until mania,

7:09

this was last year and I thought it

7:11

might be Rock last year. Right. Then

7:14

it makes sense for Roman to

7:16

hold onto it. But

7:20

at this point, so many, how many, what are you, 1,000

7:22

days? Yeah, well over, yeah.

7:24

Like 1,300 or something crazy. I mean, it's conceivable

7:26

he could have lost the title to both. Yeah.

7:29

He could have lost the title

7:32

a couple times. Yes. To

7:34

say Sammy, to give

7:36

people that incredible rush

7:39

when they leave in Sammy's case.

7:42

It was Montreal, right? In

7:44

Drew's case, it was Wales,

7:47

right? That's right. Wales.

7:50

I don't know looking at it now if

7:53

it would have hurt Roman at all. He

7:57

could still be solidified as a really

7:59

strong champion. So I don't know. I'd love

8:01

it. I just want whatever the

8:03

right thing is for Cody. I think it

8:05

has to happen this year. I

8:08

would agree. I hope it does and I'm

8:10

excited about it and I'm interested to see

8:13

if the Rock does come back. And I

8:15

think if the Rock comes back, people want to

8:17

see him in a tag team situation. A hundred

8:19

percent. They want to see him. Solo and Roman

8:21

against the Rock and Sock. It's got to be.

8:23

That's easy. That's why I've been

8:25

shaping up the last 45 minutes. Hey,

8:31

so we did get some big news. Your

8:33

old pal Dwayne is now on the TKO

8:35

board. What do you make of that, man?

8:37

I like it a lot. I'm sure he

8:39

takes that job really seriously. I'm happy also

8:41

for Dwayne that the

8:45

United States Football League. I'm

8:48

excited, man. They've got a

8:50

team in Birmingham. I want to go. I

8:53

want to be part of this thing. I'm excited

8:55

about it. I'm

8:58

bullish. I'm rock in general. I'm

9:00

bullish. I'm a bromable.

9:03

So I think he doesn't get involved

9:05

in things unless he knows there's a

9:07

good chance of making

9:09

things better or continuing

9:12

excellence. So I'm sure it's not an

9:15

opportunity to lightly and I'm really

9:18

glad that he's on the board. What

9:20

about the news that Monday Night Raw next

9:22

year will be moving to Netflix? Did that

9:24

shock you? I

9:26

was just glad to hear that I was

9:29

penciled in for 10% of

9:31

the Netflix deal. Congratulations, man. That explains

9:33

why this is the last episode. That's

9:35

right. You didn't take it good. I

9:39

believe in round numbers it would be

9:41

zero that I'll be receiving

9:43

them, but I'm proud to be a big

9:46

part of that legacy. And that stuff, from

9:48

an ancillary standpoint, does

9:50

come back to help you out as

9:52

far as games or whatever go. So

9:54

I'm really happy. I didn't see that

9:56

coming. I don't know if anybody did,

9:58

but the streaming game. That's a big one.

10:01

I mean, we saw the

10:03

success that Peacock had with

10:05

the Chiefs and Bills, right?

10:08

People may have grumbled about it, but they sure

10:10

as heck signed up. And

10:14

now Netflix is looking to

10:16

extend and deepen their bench

10:19

in terms of streaming. And WWE,

10:21

I believe, is a valuable piece

10:23

of that puzzle. With

10:26

the ink dried. Really?

10:28

I mean, the timing was crazy.

10:30

Did the ink dry before the

10:32

lawsuit? It was 48 hours

10:35

later. 48 hours, okay. It's

10:37

a lie. It's just so sad.

10:39

It's really sad. It is. You

10:41

know, it's really sad. Well,

10:45

let's try to talk about some

10:47

fun WrestleMania moments. And we've got

10:49

a ton of news and notes

10:51

here of everything that led into

10:53

some of your favorite moments. But we

10:55

are in WrestleMania season. I think we

10:57

should just try to be pretty conversational. When you

10:59

think about your personal WrestleMania

11:02

moments, what would they be? Well,

11:04

it's really the big one was with Edge.

11:07

Because what I liked about that angle was

11:09

it cut very close to the bone. And

11:11

I had to ask Edge, hey, calm me

11:14

out of never having the big WrestleMania moment.

11:16

I think in fairness to me, when I retired

11:18

for good, first time, you

11:22

didn't need that on your resume. Like, you

11:24

hadn't heard, there was no such phrase as

11:26

WrestleMania moment, at least that I'm not aware

11:28

of. And I think

11:30

when Shawn proclaimed himself Mr. WrestleMania,

11:32

that's when people started checking on

11:35

someone's pedigree to see if they had

11:37

that great WrestleMania match. I'd had a

11:40

couple of good matches. You

11:43

know, me and Terry against the

11:45

New Age Outlaws was a good

11:48

match. But it probably

11:50

could have used another five minutes to

11:52

really strengthen it. But we were kind of

11:55

in a rush to get everything in,

11:57

talk about show-wise. So that was a good

12:00

match, you know, the tag

12:02

team match I had me and Leon

12:04

against Davey and Owen was a good

12:06

match but not anything you were going

12:08

to be thinking about after the fact

12:11

and and WrestleMania 2000

12:14

the only one I main evented, I was

12:16

the first man out of what turned into

12:19

a good match but I was you know

12:21

I hadn't trained seriously I had you retired

12:23

for good six weeks

12:25

earlier and so now 2004 to me

12:27

the landscape had

12:29

changed where you kind of needed that

12:32

magic moment and I put a ton of

12:34

pressure on myself so

12:39

no doubt about it to me only

12:41

one real magic moment I guess in

12:43

some ways sharing that victory with Terry

12:46

Funk was really meaningful but

12:48

I mean to go back and have the

12:50

intention of putting that magic moment on the

12:52

board with Edge and doing it that

12:55

was really that was really special. When

12:57

you think about you know the the

12:59

WrestleMania disappointments as they were you know

13:02

we know that you wound up in a tag match

13:04

at WrestleMania 13 we talked about what you

13:06

did at 14 you know with and I

13:09

had a match with big shell at 50 and that's

13:11

what I wanted to ask you about because you know

13:14

you had just won the world title and then

13:16

you had that phenomenal I mean we're still talking

13:18

about it all these years later series of matches

13:20

with the Rock whether it was the halftime heat

13:22

or the I quit match at the Rumble and

13:25

now you're not figured

13:27

in for the world title at WrestleMania was

13:29

that disappointing? Oh really disappointing because that was

13:31

year was supposed to be a three-way mm-hmm

13:33

it's supposed to be me Rock and Steve

13:36

and you know the decision we've made at

13:38

that time it had to be a singles

13:40

even though in future years

13:42

we would see several three

13:45

ways and really good three ways personally

13:47

I believe Steve and Rock was the

13:49

right call but for me you know

13:52

it was it was disappointing I think

13:54

there's like a lost bit of footage when Kevin

13:57

Kelly interviewed me after the

14:02

pink slip on a pole match with the

14:04

Rock where I lost and my family was

14:06

there because they'd come to the pay-per-view the

14:08

night before in Memphis or Birmingham and it

14:10

was it Memphis was the

14:12

pay-per-view but Memphis was the St. Valentine's

14:15

Day Massacre or Big Show debuted right

14:17

oh it was okay and that's where

14:19

Rock and I had the double

14:22

knockouts the Rocky 2 finish

14:25

and so it was the night

14:28

after that that I lost

14:30

the opportunity to go to Mania

14:33

with the Rock and when Kevin Kelly interviewed

14:35

me I broke down

14:38

and that's not one of the things

14:40

I'm able to do you know I

14:42

remember when I got emotional in

14:44

front of the the cell

14:46

structure at the warehouse

14:49

my son Huey said dad that wasn't very believable

14:51

and I was like what do you mean

14:53

it wasn't believable because why would someone cry in front of a

14:56

cage and I was like I don't know

14:59

but I said I couldn't cry when I tried

15:01

you know four or five times in

15:03

my career that's just not something I've ever been

15:06

able to do so I was you know I

15:08

didn't realize how upset I was until I had

15:10

a chance to give voice to it so

15:13

I did I missed out and that was the

15:15

whole reason that Vince decided to put me in

15:17

the main event the next year even

15:19

though I didn't think I deserved it and didn't really

15:21

want it. Alright listen up

16:14

I'm fascinated by the idea of.

16:17

The. Weird spots, You had to be an

16:19

and ninety ninety nine because. You're.

16:21

Now this sympathetic baby faced by

16:23

hero. And clearly stone cold

16:25

as is the hottest are visible. Yes.

16:28

So. It would have been weird for their to

16:30

be through a shirt. well I just it just

16:33

you and he's so like a certain have been

16:35

singles as I understand it. I mean I've heard

16:37

through the years. When. People were

16:39

making the argument that it needed to be

16:41

to view were still included. But

16:43

but the thing is questionable to me as. I

16:46

just couldn't imagine you and stone cold

16:48

because at that point you're both. Maybe

16:50

for the I think the last I

16:52

think Sean. Who. Was bad sean

16:55

at the time or that? Ah. You

16:58

know he was impulsive than he and all

17:00

he was very opinionated and he actually thought

17:03

it's the he was the one that

17:05

went in. To push

17:07

the singles match. Ss and

17:09

he did to his their mind be

17:11

as when he went into maggots on

17:13

singles match of. Came. Out

17:15

I was. But I was. I was not part

17:17

of it. So. Odd years

17:20

later he inserted himself windows are you

17:22

I might have an affair idea of

17:24

and it was a great three way.

17:26

I wasn't It was an amazing match.

17:28

What do you think about that though

17:31

today would a three way as a

17:33

spent a while since we've seen welfare

17:35

for example I thought in this is

17:37

no disrespect to Charlotte charge to generational

17:39

talent. Ah what I thought For example

17:42

the women's match Cinnamon Betty and I'm.

17:44

rhonda a handful years ago i thought

17:47

that was the match the people wanted

17:49

to see and it was still really

17:51

good and done really well but i

17:53

think sometimes you just wanna see those

17:55

two people yes ah that we know

17:58

we can and know the are of

18:00

the three-way match. A lot of people do, you know,

18:02

like when you're in them, you know, you're

18:05

taking that strategic rest, you'll hear fans going,

18:07

hey, you were throwing off a sell and

18:09

now this keeps you down for 10 minutes.

18:11

You just have to suspend disbelief and then

18:13

focus on those people in

18:16

the ring. But, you know, it comes

18:19

with its own advantages, breakups

18:21

of false finishes and people

18:24

teaming up who normally wouldn't team up.

18:26

But as a purist, I

18:28

still think a singles match is the

18:30

way to go. So let's talk

18:33

about, you know, the next year after

18:35

you, well, I guess we should ask about

18:37

the Big Show match. What did you think of the Big

18:39

Show match? Were you disappointed in it or were you happy

18:41

with it? Well, I think the only thing people remember is

18:43

that he squashed me like a bug when I was on

18:45

his back and

18:47

then I was able to make the spirit

18:50

of 76. He still

18:53

wasn't bleeding from the head wound. Anytime in Russell

18:55

speak, you come back from an injury, you'd

18:57

spirit it. Well, no, it is specific to the

18:59

head wound. But I did come back

19:01

and I got to referee the

19:04

last five minutes of that match. Most

19:06

deafening noise I've ever heard.

19:08

So in a weird way, even though I was

19:11

the guest referee, you know, when Steve

19:13

said, thanks, kid, you know, as I was counting

19:15

to three, like I felt like I was a

19:17

part of something really special.

19:20

So I mean, it was really, it was very nice of

19:23

Vince to include me, you know, the following

19:25

year. But in a weird way, I felt

19:27

like I had that taste of the

19:30

main event. But the only

19:32

thing people remember, I think, is that Big Show

19:34

squashed me like a bug when

19:36

I was on his back. And in

19:38

all, I mean, I should, you know, that's one of

19:40

those things you show that to an

19:43

orthopedic guy and they'd shake their head and

19:45

say, I have no idea how he got

19:48

up from that magic trick involved.

19:51

But I think years later, Cody

19:53

actually used

19:55

clip of that match to

19:57

build up his match with Big Show because

20:00

he was saying that big show, this

20:02

is heel Cody, right? This is heel

20:04

Cody before he left and became, you

20:06

know. Babyface

20:08

Cody. Babyface Cody and grown

20:11

up Cody. Yes. That

20:14

he was pointing to one

20:16

of the spots in our match, which I guess

20:18

was a bungalow. What are the kids calling it

20:20

today? A botch. Botch, yeah. Bungle

20:24

mania coming your way. Not

20:27

to be confused with bung-hole mania. Straight

20:30

to DVD. All

20:33

right. So there was a spot in

20:36

the match that they bungled. We

20:38

bungled it, yes. And Cody played it.

20:40

Cody played it, yeah. I don't remember,

20:42

I honestly don't remember. You

20:44

know, I've talked before, you remember the things

20:46

that went really well, you remember the things

20:49

that went not

20:51

so well or really badly. And

20:53

then everything else is kind of in a

20:55

vacuum. That's why even on our show, you've

20:58

had to remind me of certain matches. Sure.

21:00

That I just didn't, had

21:03

to struck me as being

21:05

particularly memorable. When

21:07

you think about, you know, some of those less

21:10

than memorable WrestleMania, I know one of

21:12

the ones that you weren't really

21:14

thrilled with was the WrestleMania 20 match

21:17

with The Rock. Only because

21:19

I didn't dig down

21:21

deep. Only because I set my sights

21:24

on having a good match and not messing

21:26

up. You know, there was a

21:28

ton of pressure on me. Sure. And

21:30

then when I walked out to the garden, I

21:32

felt overwhelmed. Because I'm walking

21:34

there with The Rock, who at that point was

21:36

one of the biggest stars in the world. Now

21:39

he's the biggest star. But

21:41

20 years ago, he was certainly one of the biggest

21:43

stars. And then you have

21:45

the nature boy who's always feeling

21:47

it. Like he's, you know, like he's-

21:50

He wakes up on. He's on

21:52

and I just felt suddenly

21:54

overwhelmed. It's Madison Square Garden.

21:57

I have a wrestle in five months. I had worked for

21:59

six- months to drop 70 pounds, you

22:02

know, but I'd blown up in

22:04

ungodly fast fashion when I faced

22:06

off against Randy and I remember

22:08

thinking like as we're slugging away

22:10

I'm like how could I

22:12

possibly be, you know, gassed

22:14

out as hard as I worked,

22:16

you know, night in and night out going to

22:18

the Gold's Gym at, you know, 1 a.m. in

22:20

the freezing cold, you know, like I

22:23

thought okay I'm ready, you

22:25

know, and from a standpoint

22:28

of being on the bike

22:30

or the elliptical, I

22:32

felt like I was ready and then you

22:34

get in there and it's a whole different ballgame

22:36

brother. The the

22:42

WrestleMania moment thing, had that been

22:44

something that you thought of before

22:46

that promo with

22:48

Edge? I mean had it always been in the back

22:51

of your mind? It had been on my mind since,

22:53

at least since 2004, because

22:55

The Rock was so good in that match and he

22:58

was coming back from a lengthy absence too,

23:00

you know, and I just, man, the

23:02

idea of just playing it safe and

23:05

playing not to lose, you don't, nobody

23:08

succeeds by playing not to lose. It's

23:10

the, it's the worst way to compete at

23:13

anything and so I should have

23:15

put it out there and I should have taken my

23:17

swings but I was, you know, to use the baseball

23:19

motif, I was content that

23:21

night to single cleanly up the middle

23:23

instead of, you know, and

23:25

that's great but it's not like, you know,

23:27

watching a, you know,

23:30

a ball take off into a

23:32

purple twilight sky and chart its

23:34

course, like that's magical, you

23:37

know, whereas playing it safe and having a good

23:39

match and relying on your partner to make it

23:42

which is what I did,

23:45

nothing glorious about that. So that's the one

23:47

I look back as this should have, could

23:49

have, would have, you know, and

23:51

it was good. I've heard it was good

23:53

but I have not watched it in its

23:55

entirety because I don't want to

23:57

watch something that I know I didn't put Everything

25:22

talk a little bit about that Russell any

25:24

moment that you're so fond of with you

25:26

an edge in Chicago. And your

25:29

wrestling is Texas check their was as

25:31

well Me neither line of yes he

25:33

looks like tie and you do in

25:35

hardcore surf I'm wondering like. You.

25:38

Know was that important to you

25:40

to to represent that character? At.

25:43

It was born into the have that kind of

25:45

match the i didn't think that you have. Any

25:48

regular mass that would

25:50

be particularly memorable. I. Needed

25:53

my choices that point I needed both

25:55

who I thought the yard the best

25:57

all around worker. in the business

25:59

with I thought Edge was at

26:01

that time. Performance combined with

26:03

character, promos, ability

26:06

to elevate people. I thought he was the

26:09

best in the business and we

26:11

had a really good batch. Because

26:13

he was there, I guess I was

26:16

working hard. One thing I told him, and

26:18

I don't advocate this, especially not for people

26:20

of my age, but you remember this was

26:22

20 years ago. I was 38 and not

26:24

58. Or

26:29

was I 40 in 2000? I

26:31

think I was almost 39, 40. But

26:36

I told Adam, I need

26:38

one shot to put

26:40

me into another reality. I might walk out

26:42

there as Mick Foley. One

26:45

good shot is gonna jolt

26:47

me into being cactus jack. And

26:50

that's where the cookie sheet to the

26:52

head. Boom, okay, now

26:54

I'm ready. I needed that, I swear. And

26:56

I think if you look back to almost

26:58

all my return matches. You did something like

27:00

that. I did something like that, yeah. Why

27:02

do you think that works that way for

27:05

you? I

27:08

think as time went on, the

27:13

traits that made that character

27:16

work and memorable were not

27:20

traits I carried with me in

27:22

my everyday life. I gotcha. Tougher,

27:24

stronger, braver. And meanwhile here, well

27:26

this is years before I became

27:28

Santa, but at that point I

27:31

was becoming kinder, gentler, more patient.

27:33

And those are great attributes. And

27:36

if you, you know, and not that I wasn't

27:38

kinder, gentle and patient as a dad, but it

27:40

was easy for me, say in 1995, to

27:46

drop my wife and kids off at a park, go

27:49

to the house of

27:51

one of the cameramen in ECW, cut

27:56

the Cane Dewey promo,

27:58

cut the Uncle Willie promo. promo and one

28:01

other promo, get all that out of my

28:03

head and then go pick up my kids

28:05

and I'm a normal guy. But

28:08

as time went on, I needed to work

28:11

harder and harder and harder to get into

28:13

that mode and

28:16

it wasn't something I could easily get rid

28:18

of. Like skipping

28:20

out a few years, several years, when I

28:23

was on the road to doing that match

28:26

with Moxley, I couldn't

28:29

get out of that zone and it felt

28:31

like it was a dark cloud hanging over

28:33

me. It really did. Like I

28:36

wasn't able to think about the wild stuff

28:38

and the cool stuff and the disturbing stuff

28:40

and just let go of it. It was

28:42

like a cloud that hung around me

28:45

all the time. It really was. How did you shake loose

28:47

of that? I stopped doing matches.

28:52

That was when I was

28:55

called in and I

28:57

failed my impact

29:00

test, my concussion test. Failed

29:02

it through WWE and

29:05

an independent neurologist.

29:08

So that kind of took my, to

29:10

use the baseball motif, kind of took

29:12

the bat out of my hand

29:14

and made the decision for me. A lot of people listening

29:16

to this will never go through an impact test. Can you

29:18

describe what that's like? Yeah, I mean

29:20

a lot of it is if you know

29:23

how, I've heard that some people will game

29:25

the test by purposely not doing as well

29:27

as they can, which

29:29

only hurts them. The idea is you're

29:31

going to take a base test and

29:33

compare it with your results after

29:35

you've received a head injury

29:38

to see where the differentiation

29:40

is. But mine

29:42

was so bad as far as a short term memory

29:45

that I realized as it

29:47

was going on that I wasn't doing

29:50

very well. And then when the neurologist

29:52

asked me to recite back the words

29:54

of the beginning of the test, it was like, my

29:58

jaw just dropped. No

30:00

recollection. A few of the things

30:02

I've done, though, to work

30:04

hard to make things better is

30:06

the one-man show. Yes, sir. Really

30:08

helpful. Doing the podcast,

30:11

really helpful. The cameos, and I swear this

30:13

isn't just a cheap plug, but you can

30:15

get one at cameo.com/Mick Foley. But the truth

30:18

is, when I'm doing the cameos

30:20

and I'm thinking of things as I'm

30:22

doing them, and sometimes when I break

30:24

into the song, I don't even have

30:26

my rhyme, and I'm creating

30:28

the rhyme as I'm talking. I always have

30:30

the ability to turn it off, but

30:33

I've worked really diligently. You know, really,

30:35

I remember coming out of

30:37

one of the one-man shows

30:39

in Boston, Kristin Winski was there, and I was

30:41

like, Chris, this might sound crazy, but I feel

30:44

like I'm getting better. And he

30:46

said, Mick, what you're doing on the stage? He

30:48

goes, you're memorizing

30:50

stories, you're working

30:52

on new stories, you're playing off

30:55

the crowd. It's like gymnastics for

30:57

your brain. And so,

30:59

as much as I sometimes say,

31:01

man, I'd just like to just

31:03

lead a quiet life, I

31:07

think I need these things

31:09

to keep sharp. Because

31:12

I will say that when I

31:14

listen, not just after, and

31:16

I'm not, when I talk

31:18

about beyond the mat, I'm not

31:20

just talking about the way I was after the match.

31:22

I'm talking about my coherence.

31:25

During the movie, I feel like I'm

31:27

sharper now than I was in

31:29

98. Wow. And,

31:32

you know, I mean, people can go back and listen. No,

31:35

I'm not claiming I know everything. And

31:38

I don't retain knowledge the way that I used

31:40

to, but I

31:42

feel like I'm pretty

31:44

sharp these days. I

31:47

wanted to ask you about other Wrestlemanias, because

31:49

we know that you were at like the

31:51

Wrestlemania 30 pre-show panel, but you didn't actually

31:53

appear on the pay-per-view, but you did 32.

31:56

So we'll talk about 32 in a minute, but, where

31:59

there shows that you wish you could have

32:01

been a participant or done something, it

32:03

just didn't work out? No, I've

32:06

been happy. I mean this

32:08

year I'm going away doing a little

32:10

counter programming. I think it's just

32:12

me and Sting. Sting will do one day

32:14

I believe. Sting does the one day. He

32:17

does the three or four hours in one day and so

32:19

he's able to do a couple things in a weekend. So

32:24

I was like I don't know if

32:26

I would have gone to WrestleMania if

32:28

Stacey Keebler had not asked me to

32:30

induct her. Wow. But I was really

32:32

happy to do that. It was nice

32:34

to catch up with everyone. I had

32:36

the whole family except Dewey I think

32:38

backstage with me and that

32:40

was fun but I mean I've

32:43

watched many of WrestleMania with

32:46

friends or family. You know

32:50

and I wasn't you know

32:52

I didn't mind it. I'm pretty

32:54

sure I've been invited in some way most

32:56

of the time. Sure. But if an invite

32:58

doesn't come I don't feel left out. I

33:00

feel like what I've done makes me part

33:02

of that 40-year tradition and

33:05

I may have already told John Cone hey

33:07

I'm you know I'm not going to be

33:09

around this mania. So I've got a good

33:12

relationship with the people there. Where

33:14

can people find you this WrestleMania?

33:17

This WrestleMania will be at the Las Vegas

33:19

Toy Show which

33:21

is a convention. You know toys. Hey I'm

33:23

so happy the three-faced Zafoli are out. Hell

33:26

yeah. They are out. I should have brought

33:28

one. Have you seen them in person? I

33:30

have. Yeah they sent me one a couple

33:32

months ago and I did a box opening

33:35

then they sent me another six-pack and

33:37

when I was at a con this

33:39

past weekend I signed the first one.

33:42

Wow. Three different colors. So

33:44

I'm really excited about it. If people do

33:46

see me on the road like you know

33:49

like I want that to look good. Yeah

33:51

so I mean I look I accept some

33:53

people are gonna put them up for sale

33:55

and that's their. Explain what you mean about

33:57

three colors. I know. Three colors so the

33:59

three faces what's really neat about this is

34:01

unlike the Jack's three faces of volume

34:03

which was a great addition but you

34:06

know the detail that's gone into these.

34:08

So much better so it's no longer

34:12

just an artist chipping away at a

34:14

sculpture to make your face you get

34:17

the whole face with the 360 surround

34:19

and it's three different figures that fit

34:21

into one box then the

34:23

boxes it's got a great opening I

34:26

mean when they originally showed it to me I was like

34:28

it's a great box but this isn't a box

34:30

made for signing you know and so they took

34:33

my my

34:36

concerns and then the next thing I know

34:38

a few weeks ago a few weeks go

34:40

by and I seeing an image

34:42

there and it looks spectacular and so I'm

34:44

really excited about it so I'll

34:46

you know dude love usually

34:49

gets the blue okay with the

34:51

red heart cactus jack gets

34:53

the yellow there you go mankind I'm

34:55

probably gonna go with an orange or

34:57

I could do whatever colors you

35:00

know the orange on mankind

35:02

pops yeah yeah so it's

35:04

it's really exciting because I did

35:06

not think you

35:09

know this is 24 years after I stopped wrestling

35:12

full-time and

35:15

I've got a three pack out there that's crazy

35:17

gonna become you know I think it's how many

35:20

boxes sell I don't know but

35:22

I do feel like the people who get them

35:24

will be happy with it yeah people take them

35:26

to get signed will even be happier with it

35:30

I wanted to ask you about the dude

35:32

love character because he never got a WrestleMania

35:34

moment you know in hindsight do you wish

35:37

you could have had a man oh no

35:39

absolutely not that's not dude

35:42

look Barry Blaustein went to see

35:44

me wrestle Jim Nighthart at the

35:46

Garden and I'd completely

35:49

forgotten about that and I said how was it he

35:51

goes it was fun it wasn't

35:53

good but it was fun now

35:56

when you're at mania it has to be

35:58

good yes you know and I

36:01

love when I talk about

36:03

cameos dude has kind of reinvented himself.

36:05

Yes on cameo Yes, when

36:08

I was trying to be dude

36:10

love again For the first

36:12

season where I was a guest on most wanted treasures

36:15

I had trouble finding not only the

36:17

character but the voice and I

36:19

sounded more like dusty Then I did dude

36:21

and there's actually a video where I was

36:23

doing the the thank you video There's a

36:26

video out there where I am doing thank

36:28

you videos for the people who contributed I

36:30

am Santa Claus And I've got my son

36:32

Huey with me and he was just a

36:35

little feller and I even

36:37

stopped myself and I go I Sound

36:39

more like dusty roads and I do dude

36:41

love so dude was always a

36:43

work in progress You know I mean,

36:46

I think he had his best matches when he was

36:48

healed dude And Now

36:51

he's had found a second life another life

36:54

on Cameo, but I

36:56

think we're all fortunate that dude

36:58

love never had the opportunity

37:00

for a WrestleMania moment Because he'd been

37:02

given that opportunity brother. He would have

37:04

failed Yeah, you have a character that's

37:06

designed to not be as good as

37:08

the other characters, right? And

37:11

so I don't know if you need that type

37:13

of guy on a mania card Let's

37:16

talk a little bit about

37:18

your last WrestleMania appearance. I think that's 32, right?

37:22

32 is when you know you and stone cold and Sean.

37:24

Oh, yeah together with nations and

37:28

I think that's still the record like that

37:30

was the biggest event in WWE history over

37:32

a hundred thousand fans that are there in

37:34

Dallas, Texas 101,000 sounds good. It's unbelievable And

37:36

and I can't help but think about you

37:39

thinking back to your first WrestleMania which would

37:41

have been 13. Yeah, and It's

37:45

the Rosemont horizon and and there were a lot

37:47

of fans there and they were excited but

37:49

to go from the Rosemont horizon to 101,000.

37:53

All right, so I'm going to take both Sides

37:57

this position say is one of

37:59

the coolest things in the the world because first of

38:01

all I should have gone out first then

38:03

Shawn then Steve why is Shawn music played

38:05

I don't know I come

38:07

out second I had dropped 50 at

38:10

that point and it would eventually drop another 50

38:13

but I was under 300 I was 288

38:15

I didn't have sneakers

38:17

someone had to go out and get me a

38:19

pair of sneakers and I'm just thinking on the

38:21

walk don't limp whatever you do don't limp just

38:23

try don't limp don't limp don't limp and

38:26

I thought that all went well and then

38:28

when Steve's music hit knowing human nature I

38:30

thought not a soul in a place is

38:32

going to be looking at me yes so

38:34

I'm gonna take this all in and

38:37

I looked around and because I'd never

38:39

been in a

38:43

building like that and I likely

38:46

never would again so I just

38:49

took it all in and it was incredible

38:51

but now oh you just have

38:53

to trust me I've seen the sales figures on

38:55

the Santa memoir not a

38:57

very good chance anyone out there has read

38:59

it but when

39:01

I did the audio I

39:04

actually broke down because I

39:06

got very emotional when they called me a

39:08

day later to come do some rereads because

39:11

when you do audio even

39:13

if you take a breath or a swallow the

39:16

whole sentence is no good so

39:18

I came back they had about 12 sentences for

39:20

me to reread and I said you don't want

39:22

me to do the ending over they said no

39:24

that's that's perfect so what I

39:26

said was that when I was a you

39:29

know when I was a teenager or even

39:31

when I started in wrestling I wrote down

39:33

this list of goals I was definitely in

39:35

wrestling this is 96 I think when I

39:37

did my list of goals and

39:39

I went down one by one and it

39:41

was you know headline a

39:43

pay-per-view that does over a

39:46

one whatever the 1.0 rating

39:48

check check main event Madison Square

39:50

Garden check like I had a

39:52

chance to do all of these

39:54

things and then I said

39:56

just talk specifically about the hundred and

39:59

one thousand people And I

40:01

said it was great. I mean it was

40:03

incredible, but I can't tell you for sure

40:06

That it was better than being and I

40:08

recalled a visit I made on Christmas Day

40:11

which I thought as Santa where I thought

40:13

it was one of my top 10 performances

40:15

ever Wow, and when I walked

40:17

out of there like I really felt like

40:20

I had left Like

40:22

I left it all out there. It

40:24

was this great It was a great appearance in

40:26

the sea You know the looking ahead that the

40:28

little boy who didn't have a hair

40:30

in his head and was so tired and exhausted in

40:32

the Hospital I didn't think he'd even recollect that I

40:34

was there which is why I made

40:37

the home visit He's a completely healthy

40:39

teenager his

40:41

parents showed him the book and

40:44

He said mom and dad whole I want to be

40:46

alone for a few minutes and he went and he

40:48

recorded a video for me It

40:50

was really great. So I want people to

40:53

know That as amazing

40:55

as it is to have that WrestleMania

40:57

moment This is where I enter gum

40:59

dangerously close to DDP air and territory

41:01

here Like we define

41:03

for ourselves What our

41:06

WrestleMania moment is? Yes So if I

41:08

tell you that being in that house

41:10

with only four other people and the

41:12

three adults were crying that

41:16

That that was just as good in being

41:18

in front of the hundred one thousand I

41:20

want people to take that at face value.

41:22

You know that I I do

41:24

mean that so That's

41:26

why I think I'm able to joke around

41:28

about being mister in your house Yeah, I

41:30

joke around about but deep down. I'm

41:33

so proud of those matches You should

41:35

be that I had with Shawn and

41:37

Steve and and taker Those are some

41:39

of my favorite matches and I love

41:41

the idea that I could get the

41:43

spy spotlight I mean on one hand

41:45

I would have loved to have wrestled

41:47

Shawn or taker at mania We're Steve, you

41:49

know I mean the one time I had

41:51

the main event was in a four

41:53

way and I was the first guy out and In

41:57

my heart didn't really want to be there anyway

42:00

since I had such a

42:02

great and fulfilling retirement

42:04

match. But we

42:06

all get to determine what our big

42:08

moments are and you don't need someone

42:11

putting a label on it whether it's

42:13

WrestleMania or Main Event in WrestleMania. And

42:15

I hope that all of the, anyone,

42:18

you know, clearly

42:21

I hope that people in the wrestling

42:23

business can glean a

42:26

little bit of wisdom from that but also

42:28

anybody in any business or in any walk

42:30

of life can decide for

42:32

themselves what their big moments are. Well

42:34

said, well said. Any

42:38

memories from WrestleMania 32 like

42:40

actually being in the ring once Austin got in

42:42

there? Did it feel? Well yeah, yeah.

42:46

I found the spot on my forearm,

42:49

okay. It's still

42:51

there, it still hurts. Reason

42:53

being, I have a tender spot right

42:55

here. I can find it every

42:57

time. This is going back eight

43:00

years, right? So

43:02

I'm sitting back there, I'm nervous,

43:05

right? And I know I'm going to come in,

43:07

I'm on the no touch list. So

43:09

I can hit them, they can't hit me. I'm going

43:11

to do the big running knee, I'm going to do

43:13

the forearms in the corner and then that's pretty much

43:15

all she wrote. And Sheamus comes up to

43:18

me and he goes, right before he goes

43:20

out for his match he goes, I want you to hit me

43:22

as hard as you can in the head, fella. And

43:25

I said, I think I can make

43:27

it look good without doing that. He looks him right in the eye

43:29

and goes, as hard as you can, as

43:32

hard as you can. And that's the cause

43:34

of the weight of my shoulders.

43:37

So when I got in there, now I had worked

43:39

really hard on the 50 pounds. I

43:41

had a personal trainer and later on

43:43

I started doing DDP and going swimming

43:45

and all that stuff. And

43:47

especially when you're in the pool and you're

43:49

doing your uppercuts and your hooks until

43:52

you're just exhausted, I

43:54

mean that really is a good thing for

43:56

the forearms. Right? And

43:58

big, big, big, big, big. I

44:01

watched them back and I wondered if someone had

44:03

sped up the film. I don't think that's me

44:05

in there But I hit

44:07

Seamus as hard as I could 28 times.

44:09

It wasn't just ten. It was like He

44:13

was okay two minutes later I could still point to

44:15

the spot eight years It's

44:19

really sorry really so I'd love to

44:21

probably some calcium build-up on an x-ray,

44:24

you know That may

44:26

have been the I still think they would

44:28

look good Yeah, but I go back to

44:30

like 99 when I was in the corner with hunter

44:32

and he was like Bringing out

44:34

the best to me that was kind of

44:36

how it felt with Seamus because he's in

44:38

his glory You know, I'm hitting him as

44:41

hard as I can and it's WrestleMania And

44:44

he was a fan of mine and so

44:46

I think we both we both enjoyed that Remind

44:50

us about the story with hunter in the corner where he

44:52

brought out the best Well, yeah, well I just done that

44:54

the big reveal Switching

44:56

from mankind to cactus Jack which

44:59

hunter could have Nubbed

45:03

Dipped at the bud, right if he just

45:05

didn't sell it or if he so they're like,

45:07

yeah, it's the same guy a different shirt

45:09

Yeah, and instead he sold it like it was

45:11

a ghost from his past like it was

45:13

a whole new human being Yes, so that when

45:16

I did hit the ring he instinctively knew

45:18

I have to I have to bring it And

45:21

so I was in that corner and he was like You

45:24

know just little things it says it you're not

45:26

you're not writing a dissertation in there, but just

45:28

come on Boom

45:31

and so when I did the running knee

45:33

I actually I think I bruised

45:35

my sternum I never know to the doctor

45:37

for but was sore for about three weeks

45:40

Because I don't think I had

45:42

moved that fast before. Yeah. Yeah

45:46

So that's that's probably gonna be the last time we

45:48

see you in a ring doing anything physical at WrestleMania

45:50

That's uh, that's a pretty cool

45:53

way to go out in there with Shawn

45:55

Michaels and stone cold goodness Right, not bad.

45:57

And then we had this spacious dressing room

45:59

and Cena was back

46:01

there and you

46:03

know and the rock stopped by

46:05

and Steve. It was really cool.

46:07

It was really cool. My kids

46:09

didn't know Dewey, no Elle and

46:11

Huey were there and

46:14

I didn't tell them I was going to be

46:16

on the ring. Oh wow. They lost their minds.

46:18

That was a really, yeah it was cool. And

46:21

Dewey was there because he was working for WWE

46:23

at the time. He just started, I

46:25

think he just started working

46:27

with them. No, no, no, no. This

46:31

was 2016, yeah 2016 he had just started

46:33

working with them. Do you think he'll continue

46:35

to pursue wrestling? Dewey no, it's

46:37

been two years. He showed no interest in it.

46:39

You know I mean there's a big burnout factor.

46:41

You know that it's just, it's

46:44

even people who like Freddie Prinze Jr.

46:46

talk about it you know lovingly

46:50

or fondly. They'll

46:55

tell you it's really difficult.

46:57

Like Jonathan Coachman said you

47:00

know you're expected to bring it every day

47:02

and they do expect that. So

47:06

when we think about you know WrestleMania

47:08

obviously we fans sort of

47:10

consider that the Super Bowl

47:12

of wrestling. Do you think the

47:14

boys consider it that way? Oh

47:17

yeah, yeah but now that WrestleMania is

47:19

a two day event which I think

47:21

is a great move because

47:24

we've talked before it was really hard

47:26

to peak for a main event not

47:28

only after a seven hour show but

47:31

taking into consideration at least half the people

47:33

there have done a minimum

47:35

of five events and

47:38

some people have done ten events or more. It's

47:41

just really hard to peak if you're

47:43

the main event. If you're anything after

47:45

that fourth hour it's difficult to

47:48

get an audience emotionally up to create a

47:50

situation where you can have that classic match.

47:53

So Mania is still the biggest event but

47:56

I think the Rumbles is

47:58

the greatest night. of

48:00

the year. I would agree. The most fun

48:02

night of the year. I anticipate the Rumble.

48:05

I mean, that's what's great about the Rumble is

48:07

we already know what the match is next year.

48:09

Yeah. Like we don't know what the match is

48:11

for WrestleMania even this year but we know next

48:13

year what to expect. You look forward to it

48:15

and with a couple hiccups along the way I

48:17

think I mentioned that when the

48:19

Rumble was in Philadelphia there was a big

48:22

blizzard coming in so I did the driving

48:24

so I dropped my kids off and

48:27

when I picked them up I didn't need

48:29

to know who wanted to know that people

48:31

weren't happy because everyone had a slow gate,

48:33

had their head down and

48:35

I think I put out a post at

48:37

that time saying that you know the Rumble

48:39

is in danger of becoming just another show

48:42

which I thought at that time it was

48:44

and clearly that's not the case anymore because

48:47

they've really done a good job and

48:49

I think I'd

48:51

said that I was months and months, maybe even a

48:53

year ago I was given Hunter an A and

48:56

it depends on where things went and

48:59

although this is a grade from someone who's not

49:01

closely watching the product I'd have to give him

49:03

an A plus because he

49:05

has stuck to programs that

49:09

needed the longevity, the

49:12

character building has been really

49:14

good and I think you

49:16

can see you know that

49:19

he has been given more rain

49:24

to create the big

49:27

shows the way he sees fit

49:29

and I think WWE is really benefiting from

49:31

that I have to totally

49:33

agree, I think WWE is as hot as they've ever

49:35

been right now I'm excited to

49:37

see what they do at WrestleMania but I

49:39

wanted to ask about you know if whether or not

49:41

the boys felt like it was you know the Super

49:43

Bowl of wrestling even from an outsider

49:46

perspective I'm not pretending that you're friends with

49:48

Okada but he is like the hottest free

49:50

agent in wrestling right now and there's reports

49:52

out there that perhaps Tony

49:55

Khan and AEW would allow a schedule where he

49:57

could still live in Japan perhaps WWE would require

49:59

he's a live here in the States, but

50:01

allegedly Okada would really like to perform at

50:03

a WrestleMania. Would that shock you? No, I

50:06

mean, you know, going back decades

50:09

when the garden, the Madison Square Garden,

50:11

was essentially the pay-per-view. Yes. You know,

50:13

if you had the garden on your

50:15

schedule, it was going to be a

50:17

big month, and they would

50:19

bring in big stars that the rest,

50:21

that the WWF fans

50:24

may not have been aware of, and

50:26

that you largely heard about through the

50:28

magazines, but like... No masquerists. No masquerists

50:30

and Dusty Rhodes, you know, but I

50:33

remember Dusty cutting a promo on on

50:35

Adrian Street, and I'd never heard of Adrian Street.

50:37

I think it was 83, and

50:39

then, and Anokee would have a chance to

50:42

wrestle over there, so I

50:44

see in the same way that I think

50:46

fans are really grateful to see someone like

50:48

Jordy Andrés and the women's rumble,

50:50

they want to see the biggest stars, so

50:53

why not just give guys a chance to blow

50:55

the roof off the place, even if there's not

50:57

a heck of a lot of build there. I'm

51:01

excited to see what happens at

51:03

this year's WrestleMania, but I'm also curious if

51:06

you recall having that post-show glow at a WrestleMania.

51:08

You told us before that you feel like there's

51:10

this high that you can't really come down from,

51:12

and I know we even talked about, as

51:15

silly as it sounds, that euphoria was there

51:17

even at Ric Flair's last match, which, making

51:19

a mistake, was not a WrestleMania, but it

51:22

still felt like everyone was just all smiles,

51:24

there was an energy. There was definitely an

51:26

energy. Was that always the case for WrestleMania

51:29

for you or no? You

51:31

know, going back to the the moment

51:34

where I just strange

51:36

moment, and people have heard me refer to

51:38

this occasionally on the one-man shows, I had

51:41

this strange potpourri of burnt

51:45

hair, charred flesh, and

51:47

blood, because you know

51:50

when the hair on your arms, singes, you

51:52

know it stinks, and

51:55

the blood is that heavy iron smell,

51:57

and the burnt hair, charred flesh, and

51:59

blood. and then Earl Headmer is making the

52:01

three count and I feel this giant weight

52:04

off my shoulders. So with

52:06

that weight off my shoulders, I think the

52:08

surreal aspect of mania for me is that

52:10

I've got all this blood in my hair,

52:12

it's all congealed on one side

52:14

of my face, and it was the Nature Boy

52:16

who lent me his shampoo. So

52:18

I got the Nature Boy shampoo and then when

52:20

I go out to the monitor, the seat that's

52:22

available in front of the monitor, it's next to

52:25

Bern Gagné. Oh wow! And I thought,

52:27

here are two things that probably no

52:30

one had on their bingo card, especially

52:32

when I begin my journey

52:34

into wrestling in 1985, Flair's

52:36

the NWA champion, Vern's the AW

52:39

champion. I'm bumming shampoo from one

52:41

of the champions and then it

52:43

was only a matter of a

52:45

year or two before Vern passed

52:47

away. But he was okay,

52:54

he may have been showing

52:56

signs, but it was just this surreal

52:59

feeling of watching that and then you

53:01

have the job well done. Edge

53:03

is really happy with the way things

53:05

turned out. So I knew, the fans

53:10

eventually determined who had the

53:13

classics, but I think one of

53:15

the things that's helped that match over the years

53:17

is that it's only 10 and a half minutes

53:19

long. So you can squeeze

53:21

that in, that can be one of the

53:23

matches you show to a non-fan where they go,

53:25

whoa, I had no idea they did this. So

53:28

within the 10 minutes, I think we told

53:30

a good story, there was a lot of

53:32

action, and everything that Edge does

53:34

is going to be done right. Lita

53:37

played an invaluable part in that match, and

53:39

I'm like, she took a ride on

53:41

my shoulders and this is what, you know, this is

53:43

the way we put it. I said you don't have

53:46

to do this, but

53:48

I'd like to know if you'd consider

53:50

jumping on my back so that when I

53:52

close line Edge over the top rope, you're

53:56

going over too. And I said,

53:58

but you need to know at a certain point. You're

54:00

all on your own so

54:02

that when I come over you need to find a

54:04

way to escape Or do you feel comfortable doing that?

54:07

And she did man, and she she rocked it, you

54:10

know, I would have felt awful

54:12

if she got hurt Yeah, she she jumped

54:14

ship at just the right time and it

54:16

turned out to be a really cool spot

54:18

and because I

54:20

wasn't instigating I

54:24

did give her mr. Sacco sure, but

54:26

she did such a great job in

54:28

there and set up, you know The

54:31

the flaming table. So yeah, I was

54:33

really happy with that. Hey

55:56

55:59

think? Some wrestlers.

56:02

I. Mean, I've heard that. It'll. Bring the

56:04

main event of Wrestlemania is a high watermark for

56:06

a lot of God or me though they get

56:08

any bigger them out. but so many. Don't.

56:10

Get to go on last night or her. Great

56:12

wrestler like even like Rick Flair when he was.

56:15

There. And wrestled Shawn Michaels in his last

56:17

match. It didn't cause the bio When he

56:19

had the World Title match against Randy Savage

56:21

in Indianapolis, it didn't close the show. He.

56:24

Think it's important who closes the shower?

56:26

Us awareness on? I don't know, I

56:28

don't because ah, The. Truth

56:31

is. How Co In didn't close

56:33

a lot of the house shows, especially the

56:35

Garden when they wanted to sell tickets during

56:37

in the Us. And ah, so you look

56:39

at the guys whose technically we're in the

56:41

main event and they would often be a

56:43

six man. And. It wasn't hogan

56:45

same thing with Back Lammy, that's just

56:48

the way Debbie the Be did things

56:50

and yeah but I turned my yeah

56:52

it can be return match it will

56:54

go on earlier. Ah I love sending

56:56

people home happy I a few yeah

56:58

oh this is one of those things

57:00

where I when I was the General

57:02

Manager and Vince who's making the calls

57:05

it was like you had Sasha lose.

57:07

To. Ashley Charlotte. In.

57:10

Boston they are ellen. You have

57:12

Charlotte lose to Sasa. In.

57:15

Charlotte like is just like why just

57:17

for the sake of doing it's yeah,

57:19

like you're not gonna become predictable. As

57:21

he said, be bomb happy once in

57:23

awhile and I got. So.

57:26

That a bummer few last year when

57:28

when Roman one and when we didn't

57:30

send people home happy like Cody didn't

57:33

win best or a little bit. ah

57:35

but I also feel like the work

57:37

that was done subsequently. On

57:39

Cody character V S M the you

57:42

know that I mean the Brock Lesnar

57:44

thing is like a baptism of fire

57:46

like he comes out of our fight.

57:48

Okay for those who are on the

57:50

fence be they were now I believe

57:52

like out a thorny you can be

57:54

the guy so that if he if

57:57

he were to win that ah from

57:59

either the. The peons I

58:01

think. Ah. I.

58:04

Don't think it has any problem passing

58:06

the credibility test. I'm.

58:08

Wondering if it does wind up

58:10

being. The. Rocks and Roman

58:12

closing the show and Cody for

58:15

some reason does Texas. Mean.

58:17

It doesn't make sense to put the

58:19

title on rocks. are going to get

58:22

the same thing again, right? Roman? Unless

58:24

they go with the tag team Mack

58:26

and Saw when there's always that yeah,

58:28

I'm a good disgrace. Auto my drop

58:30

in the fall and the main arrests

58:32

and you've got a Mr. Soccer ready

58:34

to come right out of Iraq right?

58:36

amp at a rare ah. I'll.

58:39

Be honest, sometimes surprise at the Rock would

58:41

even consider it like. And. Putin

58:43

the know what is movie schedule is but.

58:46

As I recall when he wrestled John Cena, he

58:48

walked away with a few injuries dad and that

58:50

was eleven years ago. So the idea that we're

58:52

going to come back. And. Do it

58:55

again. Eleven years later, that's a tall asked to

58:57

be in the main event or miss. Is.

58:59

As. If ah okay to just be good

59:01

he needed to be gray and you're

59:03

seeing. are you know with punks try

59:05

Sep injury rides. Was it the triceps

59:07

to sure? what alarms But it was

59:09

another thing that kept him out for

59:11

six eight months. Rock out. Six eight

59:14

months with an injury was. ah man.

59:16

I'm sure that the people who make

59:18

the decisions for in a with him

59:20

were not altogether happy serve you know,

59:22

arm and that's why Think he's got

59:24

a call on me to handle quite

59:26

a bit of the heavy lifting and

59:28

that tag match cells well. I'm looking

59:30

for the last ah last year. A

59:32

few questions we got tons of questions

59:34

about Wrestlemania moments and own and this

59:36

is were coming down to the end

59:38

of Foley as pie winding down and

59:40

this was Iraq If I cannot I've

59:42

always had a blast right? Absolutely. I

59:44

even grillo a we grill i add

59:46

said me a couple months or master

59:48

his Dame de Silva. Below

59:51

for Life Real? Oh for Life. But we

59:53

all We've always had a good time. Yes,

59:55

are and not that I didn't enjoy the

59:58

ones we did. Ah, remotely

1:00:00

but coming in here. It's way more fun

1:00:03

in person. It's been a lot of fun.

1:00:05

Way more fun in person. Ian Drew Dice

1:00:08

Clay, one of my favorite follows on Twitter says,

1:00:10

if Mick signed for the WWF

1:00:12

in 1991 instead of WCW, what

1:00:15

opponent from that roster would you have liked to

1:00:17

have worked with at WrestleMania 7? That was perfect

1:00:21

for a taker match right? That would have

1:00:23

been great. Would have been his second Mania.

1:00:25

I think that

1:00:27

would have been his first. Oh no, he has. Yeah,

1:00:30

yeah. He... 7

1:00:33

was snuck out of things. Well, if I came in in

1:00:35

the fall of 91 like I did to WCW, then

1:00:40

maybe I could have been the 1992 Mania

1:00:43

opponent. Oh, there you go. But yeah, I

1:00:45

love, you know, I was such a fan

1:00:47

of the original Undertaker and then all the

1:00:49

incarnations over the years but

1:00:51

that first one, you know, at that... I

1:00:54

can see you in there because I think

1:00:56

takers opponent at 8 was

1:00:58

with Jake. Yeah. So yeah, slide

1:01:01

Jake out, slides you in. He had a good

1:01:03

thing going with Jake too and that was where

1:01:07

taker eventually worked himself into a corner

1:01:09

where every opponent had to be bigger

1:01:11

in some way than he was. Whether

1:01:15

it was Kamala or Bundy or Giant

1:01:17

Gonzalez and so I was a break

1:01:19

from that in 90... well,

1:01:21

just when I started feuding with him

1:01:24

in 96 and

1:01:26

he really welcomed that and I think

1:01:28

he wanted to do more offensively and

1:01:30

switch shift gears a little bit and

1:01:32

so that was a great... greater program for me than

1:01:35

it was for him but still really... I think a

1:01:37

really good shot in the arm

1:01:39

for Undertaker as well. Instagram

1:01:41

A wrestling historian says, would you have ended

1:01:43

your career at WrestleMania differently or was WrestleMania

1:01:45

2000 the way to go at the time?

1:01:47

No, the way to go out was me

1:01:49

and Triple H riding off into the sunset.

1:01:52

That was a perfect way to go. It

1:01:54

was. So when I got the phone call

1:01:56

from Jim Ross... now I will say that

1:01:58

I went back on my word... What

1:02:00

I will also say I was the only

1:02:02

guy in history to try to talk any

1:02:04

one out of being in the main event

1:02:06

the Us. so when I said digit him

1:02:08

a call me I guess at my parents'

1:02:10

house to I still had to go outside

1:02:12

of my parents. Are. You know, with

1:02:14

the cord? And go outside and a

1:02:16

big as a read a couple of going

1:02:18

some plan for you. What I thought of

1:02:20

them are host a panel or something like

1:02:22

that. We. Broke the news or he

1:02:24

wanted me to be the main event of mania.

1:02:27

My answer was. I

1:02:29

just retired six weeks ago.

1:02:32

And. So you can ask Gym:

1:02:34

It took some convincing for me. And.

1:02:37

That's when I was like children's college.

1:02:39

I only had two kids college education.

1:02:41

I could put that directly and and

1:02:44

so I'm glad to get a nice

1:02:46

pay off from it. But in a

1:02:48

perfect world, The. I was

1:02:50

just fine with that. Ending it

1:02:52

in Hartford with Aaa in the

1:02:54

cell. Fancy Booker

1:02:57

Parker says any memories of your backstage

1:02:59

segments with Santino Morel I Wrestlemania Twenty

1:03:01

Four and twenty Years of To? Yes

1:03:04

sir I only knew there was one

1:03:06

I thought oh we did the same

1:03:08

with The Deadliest Catch I think were

1:03:11

so am I. were acting like talking

1:03:13

like putting. A

1:03:16

lot it was. It was fun. You know

1:03:18

I mean I enjoyed is none. I watched

1:03:20

from the you know the sweet in our

1:03:23

like five hundred yards of I was tickled

1:03:25

of that. When people get excited about getting

1:03:27

a sweet for Wrestlemania it's like you're gonna

1:03:29

see anything so far away. You know the

1:03:32

were I where you want to talk with.

1:03:35

A handful of people you're not going

1:03:38

to pay attention. fierce I remember know

1:03:40

Wow! Was so upset when we we

1:03:42

didn't go as a family to Mania

1:03:44

the day after I was inducted. And

1:03:47

i'm like why thing said she had tears

1:03:49

streaming down her face in the next day

1:03:51

I was like on the i said. As

1:03:54

they weren't know what eating give up their

1:03:56

seat in the arm. friends

1:03:59

and family it's It's so overcrowded

1:04:02

that it was at one point

1:04:04

for a couple hours On

1:04:06

the other side of the suite Overlooking

1:04:09

the parking lot with only a monitor

1:04:11

to look at was me Terry Funk

1:04:13

nature boy Eric and Sean Waltman and

1:04:16

I was thinking like I don't

1:04:18

think my daughter would have been enjoying this You know,

1:04:20

so yeah, it takes you as

1:04:22

well. I've been in corporate suites and they're

1:04:25

great They're a lot of fun, but it's

1:04:27

not the best way to watch No, a

1:04:29

wrestling match Adam

1:04:31

Arpin says do you know anything of

1:04:33

the rumor that Jericho was originally Penciled

1:04:35

in for WrestleMania 2000 in

1:04:37

the spot you had have you heard that before? No,

1:04:40

I'm talking about in the main event. Yeah the Like

1:04:43

man in every corner there were promotional materials

1:04:46

printed with Chris in there with Chris in

1:04:48

there, but he joined in 99

1:04:51

99 It's the

1:04:53

first time hearing of it, honestly That's

1:04:56

what's always been interesting to me is to think

1:04:58

you know I think everyone listening to

1:05:00

this agrees you should have been in that match in 99

1:05:04

And it feels like 2000 was maybe a make

1:05:06

good Yeah, it was and it's interesting that we

1:05:08

pivot from we can't possibly have anything other than

1:05:10

a singles match now It's a four way the

1:05:12

next year. Thank you. So we didn't even go

1:05:15

three first. We went straight to four, right? but

1:05:18

our pal Jim Ross often says all

1:05:20

that really matters is the money in the miles the

1:05:22

cash and the creative and I'm

1:05:25

wondering when everybody knew that WrestleMania 99

1:05:27

was supposed to be yours and you

1:05:29

were supposed but I don't think that

1:05:31

was well known until years later I

1:05:34

mean, Nick you're you're in the title match

1:05:37

into the January pay-per-view and the February pay-per-view

1:05:39

and then You're getting beat up

1:05:41

by the new guy from WCW in March. That's

1:05:43

a little weird Okay

1:05:47

And you're fresh off of that fantastic story

1:05:49

at Survivor Series in 98. Yeah, I mean

1:05:52

it's just You had all that

1:05:54

momentum and especially coming off the cage the year

1:05:56

prior. It just felt like as a fan. That

1:05:58

was your year But

1:06:00

Rock and I had Survivor Series. We

1:06:02

had the following month in December. We

1:06:05

had I Quit in January. We had

1:06:07

the See

1:06:09

you down there Yeah, and

1:06:12

we had halftime heat. Yes, and plus we

1:06:14

had a handful of TV matches. You felt

1:06:16

like you'd done it I thought like it

1:06:18

was the story was Yeah,

1:06:21

I thought the story was told really well

1:06:23

clearly You felt like that could have been

1:06:25

your year too just based on you breaking

1:06:27

down during the Kevin Kelly interview You thought

1:06:29

maybe that was gonna be your year. I'm

1:06:32

just wondering I'm gonna ask him

1:06:34

for a specific I'm just wondering did

1:06:36

do you think JR put a little

1:06:38

extra cheese on your whopper? Since

1:06:41

because we know historically the WrestleMania main

1:06:43

event gets the big Yeah,

1:06:45

and so I know that a lot of people who are

1:06:47

listening to this are simply listening from a fan perspective And

1:06:50

they hear the performer in you who says man I really

1:06:52

wanted that main event But there's also

1:06:54

the business man that says hey the main event

1:06:56

also makes the most money. It was really good

1:06:58

It wasn't the best payoff. I've had because I

1:07:01

did get paid better for a couple of other

1:07:03

matches sure But it was good considering that I

1:07:05

was out of it in ten minutes You

1:07:07

know I was talking about with big show Oh

1:07:09

a big show. I can't remember. Yeah. No, I

1:07:11

don't know if there's any extra Cheese on there.

1:07:14

I really don't I can't recall. I don't

1:07:16

recall being upset or happy okay. Yeah, well.

1:07:18

That's a good time. I guess Here's

1:07:22

a new one. Here's one from Luke from Eastern Iowa

1:07:24

He says if you had to show only one of

1:07:26

your mania moments to a non-wrestling fan, which would it

1:07:28

be? Well, we've

1:07:30

already deduced. I only had one really

1:07:32

big mania moment, so I would show

1:07:35

them Match

1:07:37

with the edge I

1:07:39

gotta say as much as I enjoyed that match

1:07:41

I would still think that WrestleMania 32 moment would

1:07:43

be something to show a non fan with rock

1:07:45

well Just uh well that was with Austin and

1:07:47

oh yeah. Yeah. Oh, yeah, but just a spectacle

1:07:50

of a hundred and one thousand Okay, you're okay.

1:07:52

You're talking about no no I? What

1:07:56

I did so much more oh, I

1:07:58

mean that was cool to be out there among

1:08:00

those people for sure

1:08:02

but I'm pretty good with

1:08:05

my moment with Edge. Do

1:08:07

you have a favorite WrestleMania moment as a fan? Like

1:08:09

when you think you don't have to narrow it down

1:08:11

to one if it's tough but can you give us

1:08:13

a few of your favorite as a fan you're watching

1:08:15

at home or backstage and you

1:08:18

see it and you're like man that's that's

1:08:20

what this business is. Well I mean Brett

1:08:22

and Austin 97.

1:08:26

Were you

1:08:28

watching that in the back? Yeah yeah

1:08:30

that was really special and that was

1:08:32

really so badly needed because Mania if

1:08:35

you recall was on the verge of

1:08:37

becoming just another show. It felt

1:08:39

like it that year. I mean the buy rate was

1:08:43

very... WCW beat it with Uncensored.

1:08:45

Did they really? Yes. Yeah so

1:08:47

I don't think it had become

1:08:50

the destination that

1:08:52

it later would. I know people came from around

1:08:54

the world but not in such big numbers. When

1:08:56

do you remember that changing because I know now

1:08:58

you know it went from it was a day

1:09:00

and then it was a weekend. I

1:09:03

got harangued if that's the word for

1:09:05

saying that Tyson was the most important

1:09:07

guest we had when

1:09:09

I did the Legends Roundtable but I

1:09:11

stand by that. I think that that

1:09:14

turned that from being a match into

1:09:16

a spectacular which is what it was

1:09:18

always supposed to be. I mean it

1:09:20

was a spectacular the first few years but

1:09:23

it's it's bulb and dimmed a

1:09:26

little bit by 97 and 98 boom there

1:09:28

was no turning

1:09:30

back and I think within a couple of years

1:09:33

it was I mean 99 I remember the difference

1:09:36

in going to the TV hotel and just

1:09:38

being hundreds of people

1:09:41

swarming like I think that

1:09:43

was to me that was a difference maker

1:09:45

that's what felt like the difference maker of

1:09:47

me. So your big mania moment as

1:09:51

Austin, Brett and

1:09:54

then the... I mean a

1:09:56

couple of standing out didn't

1:09:58

Sean and Kurt absolutely absolutely tear it

1:10:01

down. Absolutely. Which was incredible.

1:10:04

And then a

1:10:06

couple of the matches that

1:10:08

Taker had with Sean. 25

1:10:10

is unbelievable. And then the

1:10:12

match he had in Miami

1:10:14

with Honor was

1:10:17

exceptional. So there have been so many

1:10:19

great matches. It comes down to

1:10:21

the ones that really make you

1:10:23

feel something. And then, well I

1:10:25

know we can't talk about

1:10:28

Benoit much, but that was a great

1:10:30

field. Oh, 20 was unbelievable. With him

1:10:32

and Eddie, with Confetti. I

1:10:35

mean the idea that they proved just about

1:10:37

everybody wrong. Yes. And to what could and

1:10:39

could not get over

1:10:41

in WWE. So that was really, really special.

1:10:43

Were you surprised to see them in that

1:10:45

spot? I mean I think so many people

1:10:48

felt like they were two of the best wrestlers

1:10:50

in the world, but they just didn't feel like

1:10:53

maybe they had that vision. Yeah, oh for sure.

1:10:55

Yeah, yeah. That was a really cool moment then.

1:10:57

That was at the Garden, right? Yes. So

1:11:00

I had the big match there. Talked

1:11:02

with Jesse Ventura for a long time.

1:11:04

The best of catering

1:11:07

at Mania. It really is the

1:11:09

best of catering. Bruce Prichard recently

1:11:11

said that he thinks, if he

1:11:13

had it his way, every

1:11:15

10 years WrestleMania would be back at

1:11:17

the Garden. So 30 and now 40

1:11:19

would have been at the Garden. And

1:11:21

now 50, yeah. We know that that's

1:11:24

not going to happen because it's a

1:11:26

stadium show now. But

1:11:28

do you think, you know, we need one more

1:11:31

Madison Square Garden Mania. You think that will

1:11:33

happen? I would love for 50 to take place

1:11:35

there. Wouldn't that be cool? You know, make

1:11:37

it the toughest ticket ever. Yes.

1:11:42

Yeah, I mean you sell it out. Well,

1:11:44

but the Garden notoriously is stingy

1:11:46

on their split. Yeah. So I

1:11:48

mean you'd be, for

1:11:50

the sake of prestige, you'd be... Leaving

1:11:53

a lot of money on the table. Well,

1:11:56

we got one silly question we got to finish with. a

1:12:00

fun one and they want to know if this

1:12:02

is indeed the final podcast please

1:12:04

sing the funeral song uh...

1:12:09

but the only problem is to make

1:12:11

the funeral uh... i'll

1:12:14

never forget when you broke that out and

1:12:16

reload i will be very likely we really

1:12:18

do this is really happening because this is

1:12:20

the point when i would do the law

1:12:23

i would do the video yes record them

1:12:25

live with the different characters i don't have

1:12:27

my dude stuff but uh... i

1:12:30

and i preface it by saying hey look

1:12:32

you know i know they're outside the box

1:12:35

uh... moments to celebrate and

1:12:37

then instead of saying do you love

1:12:39

it you know you

1:12:42

go into the funeral you

1:12:45

let's put the fun in funeral holland and

1:12:47

i looked up at you guys and you know

1:12:50

this is a rib right? no we had no

1:12:52

idea we were going with it we're

1:12:54

not cameo experts we were learning we're

1:12:57

trying to learn man

1:12:59

i've had so much fun doing this podcast with you it's

1:13:01

been an absolute blast tell everybody where they can keep up

1:13:03

where they can see you in person well

1:13:06

you know why i'm out there a couple

1:13:08

times a month doing the conventions and different

1:13:10

things you can go check me out at

1:13:12

uh... realmikfoli.com you

1:13:14

can hit events you can go to realmikfoli.com

1:13:17

just about anything you can take you to

1:13:19

the cameos uh... cameos

1:13:21

events uh... maybe uh... interesting

1:13:25

uh... just go there i am keeping really busy

1:13:27

i'm gonna slow down when i hit sixty that's

1:13:30

the goal and i know

1:13:32

we had a question a few months ago about

1:13:34

politics and i was really proud of the fact

1:13:36

that we'd only talked i think once like

1:13:38

fleetingly but before i go i just feel

1:13:40

like i owe it to

1:13:44

myself just to say for

1:13:46

everyone out there please vote wisely it's important

1:13:48

i'm not going to tell you how to vote but please vote vote

1:13:52

wisely so now i'm relieved of that

1:13:54

obligation uh... i can

1:13:56

rest easy but i've had a great time

1:13:58

uh... Thank you

1:14:00

to everybody who has given

1:14:03

me their time. I especially like,

1:14:05

not that everybody listens isn't great,

1:14:08

but when I hear somebody saying,

1:14:10

they'll tell me, hey man, I

1:14:12

have a 90 minute

1:14:14

drive to work, 90 minutes back, and

1:14:16

thanks for keeping me company. So

1:14:19

I know there are other podcasts

1:14:21

that do much better you know,

1:14:23

on YouTube clips, but I

1:14:25

think the strength of this one is

1:14:27

that we feel like we're keeping people

1:14:29

company. You know, like I feel like

1:14:31

we're pretty good road partners. And

1:14:34

that's really important. You know,

1:14:36

you're right. When you're listening to

1:14:38

nonstop music, after, I know there

1:14:40

are times where I was, wait a second, I only went

1:14:42

an hour? Like it seems like I've been in the car

1:14:44

forever. But when you listen to

1:14:46

a podcast and you know, when you like

1:14:48

someone's company and you're kind of hanging with

1:14:50

them. You

1:14:52

get lost in that. You can get lost in the time.

1:14:54

It can make things go quicker. And so hopefully

1:14:57

it's been a good place to

1:15:00

find good company. I

1:15:02

really appreciate all of you out there. I'm going

1:15:04

to miss it. I really, I really

1:15:06

am. And I did mean to write

1:15:09

the song to WrestleWap. I

1:15:11

was going to say, We Cast Punches. I'd

1:15:14

still like to do it. And I'll probably put

1:15:16

it out as a video and then you guys

1:15:18

can share it on Foley's Pod. So

1:15:21

I guess we're saying goodbye, right? We're saying

1:15:23

goodbye, but the YouTube channel will live on.

1:15:25

If Foley ever gets a wild hair, you

1:15:27

can check us out at Foley on youtube.com.

1:15:29

And don't forget the meantime, Real Mick Foley.

1:15:31

And I was asked also by a good

1:15:33

podcast, Hey, can you come on for a

1:15:36

while? And I said, listen, man, I'm

1:15:38

just finishing my own. So I'm placing

1:15:40

myself on a six month podcast

1:15:43

moratorium. So

1:15:46

I feel like I feel to be disrespectful

1:15:48

to Foley's Pod and just jump up as

1:15:50

a guest

1:15:52

on someone else's podcast. Well,

1:15:54

stay tuned. You never know where Mick's going to

1:15:56

show up next, including maybe Philadelphia. I mean, you've

1:15:58

had some fun in Philly. I know

1:16:01

but I'm booked for all three days

1:16:03

at the toy convention. But if the

1:16:05

rock calls. If the rock calls. Hey

1:16:07

look like I said I did not

1:16:09

intend to be at Mania last year

1:16:11

and Stacey Keebler called. Sure. So uh...

1:16:13

that would be a... Did

1:16:16

I tell you my... before I go this

1:16:18

is pretty... Did I tell you my rock

1:16:20

Christmas story? I'm not sure. So you

1:16:22

know I go to great lengths to make the

1:16:25

videos as good as I can and people would

1:16:27

be like, what videos? Reason being I do about

1:16:29

40 of them for colleagues and

1:16:31

you know I've got a... you

1:16:33

know some pretty heavy hitters in the wrestling business.

1:16:36

So I had prefaced... I

1:16:39

like said hey rock I'm gonna be

1:16:41

going out to film the videos. I

1:16:43

incorporated reindeer this year and

1:16:45

I didn't hear back from them. And then when I

1:16:47

finished the filming I said hey, I sent them a

1:16:49

text. Hey rock, I did the

1:16:51

filming. You know I wasn't able to touch on

1:16:53

any specific issues but if you have any let

1:16:56

me know so I can do it

1:16:58

in a letter. And I didn't hear

1:17:00

anything so when I sent the video I was like

1:17:02

I hope he gets it. I send

1:17:04

the video and the video is about three

1:17:07

minutes long. Within 10 minutes

1:17:09

I get a voice message. Three

1:17:11

and a half minutes long. It just... What

1:17:15

a great... it's just a... it's

1:17:17

just a really cool thing. So I...

1:17:19

Collette was in another room so I

1:17:21

sent one of the kids with the

1:17:23

voice message and I looked in

1:17:26

at my two younger boys and Collette and

1:17:28

they're like looking at the phone... looking at

1:17:30

the phone and they're just marveling and she

1:17:33

came out and she wiped away tears. She's

1:17:35

like that's really beautiful. So that's

1:17:37

a... I think that's a nice story. Oh yeah it

1:17:39

is. 25 years after I quit, 25 years after the

1:17:44

night of the chair shots it's like you

1:17:46

know Dwayne Johnson can bring tears

1:17:48

to the Foley family's eyes. So

1:17:51

I'm really just... I'm really grateful for you

1:17:54

giving me the opportunity. Grillo. I

1:17:56

consider you guys friends for life.

1:17:59

Absolutely. life. I did this,

1:18:02

but there's no Ric Flair energy drink. The

1:18:04

whole idea was to take a drink

1:18:08

and then channel my

1:18:10

inner nature boy. Let

1:18:14

me just say this, maybe we can get

1:18:16

you some to Philadelphia, because I think there

1:18:23

are going to call me. There's been a

1:18:25

precedent now that three ways are allowed at

1:18:27

WrestleMania, and technically you are physically sitting at

1:18:29

the head of the table. I

1:18:33

mentioned I'd have to lose 70 pounds

1:18:35

just to be in bad shape.

1:18:37

No, nobody needs to see that.

1:18:40

Nobody needs that. Now whether I could

1:18:43

be at ringside and take a Superman

1:18:46

bunch from Roman, I

1:18:48

don't know. Or maybe

1:18:50

a little rock bottom to the

1:18:52

table. Wow, okay. I wasn't

1:18:55

thinking about that. I was thinking maybe

1:18:57

a little soccer for solo. Just to

1:18:59

put it out there, Conrad, 60's

1:19:02

right around the corner. I'm going

1:19:04

to do one final match.

1:19:08

What? For my 60th birthday. Deathmatch. You

1:19:10

kidding around? I'm not kidding.

1:19:13

I think it would be a great

1:19:15

incentive to drop those 100 big ones. I think

1:19:21

it might be fun. Do

1:19:23

you think you would do this in WWE? No,

1:19:26

no. I don't think so, because I

1:19:28

think it would be a pretty gory

1:19:31

spectacle. Just thinking about

1:19:33

it. I put it out there to my kids and

1:19:35

they were like, would you get hurt? Yeah,

1:19:37

probably. I

1:19:40

love your song on it. That's what that does. But

1:19:47

I wouldn't have to get my brain

1:19:49

rattled. I'm not averse to a few

1:19:52

sticharoonies here or there. It's just something

1:19:55

I've... Hey Grillo,

1:19:57

go by mickfoli's last match dot

1:19:59

com. This

1:20:02

is exciting. Might be right? Yeah.

1:20:05

I mean it

1:20:07

won't be for everyone and rightfully,

1:20:09

come on, that's not good for you. It

1:20:13

could help me lose 100 pounds, right? Because

1:20:16

that's what I'm missing is I

1:20:19

did drop the 100, but

1:20:21

I had the WrestleMania thing and I

1:20:24

was already down 50 and

1:20:26

then I had Vince in my ear

1:20:28

where I'd made the promised him that I would

1:20:30

be down 80 and I don't have

1:20:32

any type of incentive. So I'm just,

1:20:34

it's just something that I'm throwing out

1:20:36

there so this time next year we

1:20:39

might have to revisit

1:20:41

that option. Hypothetically, do you

1:20:44

have a dream opponent

1:20:46

in mind? Have you even thought

1:20:48

about that? Moxley

1:20:53

or Matt Cardona? Okay.

1:20:56

How about that? I think

1:20:59

Moxley would be the easiest,

1:21:02

but Matt has that

1:21:05

heat in the deathmatch world that

1:21:07

could really make it something

1:21:10

cool. How about that? You

1:21:12

see, you're genuinely excited and scared for

1:21:14

me. Both. Both, yeah.

1:21:17

Both. Both. But it

1:21:19

would be great for you to shut that big mouth, Matt

1:21:21

Cardona. Yeah, right? Yeah. It's the time to

1:21:23

do it. I mean he says he's the king of the deathwatches. Does he know who

1:21:25

he's talking to? No. He's from

1:21:27

Japan? No. They don't call him

1:21:29

the king of the deathmatch. He ever beat Terry Faunt? No,

1:21:31

he never did. Nope. Just saying. All

1:21:34

right. Well, we're in on a high note, boys

1:21:36

and girls. Any final words today, Mr. Foley? This

1:21:39

has been an absolute blast and we can't thank

1:21:41

you enough for our time. It's been a great

1:21:43

1:21:45

1:21:47

my best to make it

1:21:49

special by being in studio, which I don't

1:21:51

think many other people do. No. And

1:21:54

I really appreciate taking a stroll

1:21:56
