Sacraments are a part of our journey as members of the church of Christ. Each of the sacraments should have an ongoing effect on us, not only in the moment at the altar when they were dispensed, but also throughout our lives. This continuous effect takes places when we reflect on them and allow them to unfold inside of us.

Jesus Christ, in His incarnation, sacrificial death, and resurrection, as well as the sending and activity of the Holy Spirit, opened salvation for us, and we experience that in the three sacraments: Holy Baptism with water, Holy Sealing, and Holy Communion.

Holy Baptism produces the effect of belonging: we belong to the Lord, as He has drawn us to a nearness with Him; and we belong to the church, as we become part of the body of Christ. Through this sacrament, the remoteness from God, which is the result of original sin, is washed away. Nevertheless, the inclination to sin remains.

The effect of Holy Sealing is that God grants the believer a share in His nature and Spirit, and fills him with His power. This power also awakens the God-given gifts in each of us for us to engage them in serving and edifying the body of Christ.

In Holy Communion, the effect on those who worthily partake of it is that they share in the sacrifice of Christ. This establishes true fellowship with the Lord and the unity of believers, which thereby gives the strength to overcome and live in Christ.

Christ shares His life and victory with us so that we can be victorious. In this longing to experience communion and be with Him, we want to come back to church not only to hear the divine word together as a congregation, but also to have communion together. That then has a great effect on us.

Los sacramentos son parte de nuestro camino como miembros de la iglesia de Cristo. Cada uno de los sacramentos debe tener un efecto continuo en nosotros, no solo en el momento en el altar cuando fueron dispensados, sino también durante toda nuestra vida. Este efecto continuo tiene lugar cuando reflexionamos sobre ellos y permitimos que se desarrollen dentro de nosotros.

Jesucristo, en Su encarnación, muerte en sacrificio y resurrección, así como el envío y la actividad del Espíritu Santo, abrió la salvación para nosotros, y experimentamos esto en los tres sacramentos: Santo Bautismo con agua, Santo Sellamiento y Santa Cena.

El Santo Bautismo produce el efecto de pertenencia: pertenecemos al Señor, ya que Él nos ha acercado a Él; y pertenecemos a la iglesia, ya que nos convertimos en parte del cuerpo de Cristo. A través de este sacramento, la lejanía de Dios, que es el resultado del pecado original, es eliminada. Sin embargo, la inclinación al pecado permanece.

El efecto del Santo Sellamiento es que Dios concede al creyente una participación en Su naturaleza y Espíritu, y lo llena con Su poder. Este poder también despierta los dones dados por Dios en cada uno de nosotros para que los involucremos en servir y edificar el cuerpo de Cristo.

En la Santa Cena, el efecto sobre los que participan dignamente de ella es que participan del sacrificio de Cristo. Esto establece una verdadera comunión con el Señor y la unidad de los creyentes, lo que da la fuerza para vencer y vivir en Cristo.

Cristo comparte Su vida y victoria con nosotros para que podamos ser victoriosos. En este anhelo de experimentar la comunión y estar con Él, queremos volver a la iglesia no solo para escuchar la palabra divina juntos como congregación, sino también para tener comunión juntos. Eso entonces tiene un gran efecto en nosotros.
