Let's get this started with a few simple questions.

First question - Who am I?

Hey there! Call me Chris, the host of The Life Nomadic; a podcast for location independent persons. I've decided to create a space and a community for myself and other individuals in the nomad space – no exclusions.

This podcast is for digital nomads, remote workers, freelancers, wannabes, really anyone interested in what's happening in the subculture of location independence! I use the podcast to satirize issues large and small, from privilege and money to careers and hobbies. The thoughts and opinions expressed may or may not reflect my personal opinions; however, I reserve the right to change my thoughts and opinions at anytime and for any reason...especially when things are trending.

Next - What do I do?

I help young children and teens in China improve their English language skills. Some who do the same thing that I do would call themselves teachers; however, the current landscape of online teaching in China puts us more in the role of facilitator or presenter more than it does teacher. Which is probably a good thing since most of the individuals hired by these companies, up until recently, weren't qualified or certified to teach anyway.

Number 3 - When did I start doing it?

I started teaching English in the Czech Republic after earning a certificate to teach English to speakers of other languages from the Trinity College of London. I taught at summer camps, in classrooms and also taught freelance on the side. I had the opportunity to teach in Cambodia and Russia. Now I work exclusively online.

Number 4 - Where have I been?

In alphabetical order; Albania, Austria, Cambodia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Mexico, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Thailand, the U.K., the U.A.E, the U.S.A, and Vietnam.

Question 5 - Why do I do what I do?

One of the biggest reasons I live this way is so that I can travel around the world. I feel that it would be socially irresponsible of me to waste the advantages that my American passport and white male privilege have granted me from birth. Honestly, I'm not doing this for myself, I'm doing it in honor of all those who don't have the benefits and opportunities that I do. #blessed

And finally - How do I do what I do?

I use online teaching platform to connect with my students and receive monetary compensation from the platform host for each lesson I'm scheduled for. I use the money I make to purchase goods and services like accommodations, food, and travel tickets.

Well that's where I'm going to end this episode...so stop listening to me and go do something nice for someone.
