On today's episode, I had the opportunity to sit down with Jessica Quijano (she/her), an seasoned feminist and anti-racist activist based in Tio'tia:ke (Montréal). She is the coordinator of Iskweu , a project of the Native Women's Shelter of Montréal which aims to reduce the number of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, trans and two-spirit people, and to ensure that the police are filing reports and appropriate follow-through on cases of those who have gone missing. As biracial folks, we are both deal with various issues surrounding our racial identities. This reality influences the ways that we choose to interact with our communities, how those communities engage with us, and how we are perceived by society at large.
