Karen Landolt is a professor, leadership consultant and career coach from Austin, Texas. Karen is an advocate for creating an entrepreneurial mindset in academia. She currently teaches Business Law, Behavioral Ethics and Entrepreneurship at the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin. She came across CliftonStrengths when was looking for an assessment to help her newly formed MBA career management team come together. It provided a common language to understand what each person could bring to the team. Soon after, when she began teaching in the business school, she discovered Gallup’s EP10 assessment. Believing in team-based and experiential learning, she knew using EP10 would help the class form teams for their service learning projects that would produce better results. She saw how well CliftonStrengths worked for her previous team, so she realized her students also needed to understand each other’s business talents in order to work best together.Karen has seen a “fever for entrepreneurship” in higher education, and her students (business or non-business students) take what they learn about themselves from the EP10 and apply it to lots of diverse disciplines. She now has EP10 routed into the curriculum of her business classes.
