Ever tried shining a flashlight in the day time? Doesn't do much good, does it?Made in the likeness and image of God, the Lord shines on His children like little mirrors in order that they may experience the joy of having and reflect His Light. For now, in this stage of redemption, rather than eliminating the darkness entirely, the Lord sees best to shine His Light into the darkness of our lives and our world.Pain, sickness, sorrow, persecution remain (at least for now), and it is not in spite of these, but in and through these difficulties that His Light is best revealed in our dark and dying world. No one likes pain and sorrow, and it is right and biblical to pray for mercy, healing and relief. But, when, despite the sorrow, our Father gives the grace to choose the Light of Life over the death and darkness of this world, it proclaims of the surpassing glory we have seen in the face of Jesus Christ! As we can see from our passage today, the Lord has been declaring such truth from long before the New Testament. Nowhere better is it seen than in Jesus (1 Corinthians 4.4-6), but this message of hope is scattered throughout the Script of God's Holy Story.Got hope? Are you walking with God? Does His Light and Life shine through the darkness, carry your load, calm your fears, illumine the Rock of Christ on which to stand? Join us for Genesis 5 today.
