0:30
you had your time with Jesus , conversations
0:33
with Jesus this week ? Coffee with
0:35
Jesus , a day at the beach
0:38
with Jesus , five minutes with Jesus
0:40
. You know , I'd encourage everyone
0:43
I talk to spend some time
0:45
with Jesus . Just share your
0:47
heart , telling what you're concerned about , whether
0:49
it's world issues , whether
0:51
it's personal , whether it's marital
0:54
or financial . Just share your heart
0:57
and then be quiet
0:59
and wait till
1:01
you begin to hear what
1:03
he has to tell you . Yes
1:05
, he has something for each of
1:07
us and he wants to have
1:09
that dialogue . Well
1:12
, today I have an interview
1:14
that I had listened
1:17
to on WGTS FM
1:20
radio and Lauren Daigle . And
1:23
I brought Lauren Daigle here
1:25
in concert in the early days I
1:28
mean she had just got
1:30
out of college , I believe at LSU . I
1:33
had her booked at a concert at First Baptist
1:35
Church in Gulfport and she was with
1:37
a group called Big Daddy Weave
1:39
, and that night during dinner
1:41
, I told Lauren . I said
1:43
you know , lauren . You do
1:45
know , don't you , that you're going to go
1:48
on and be a big star . And she looked
1:50
at me with those precious eyes and said
1:52
do you really think so ? Yes
1:55
, she is a mega star today
1:57
, fills up arenas all over the world
1:59
. You're
2:01
going to hear Lauren talk
2:04
about how she is on a mission
2:06
to eradicate loneliness . She
2:10
sits down with our friends at WGTS
2:13
radio and
2:15
Lauren Daigle opens up about overcoming loneliness
2:19
and finding purpose . I
2:22
believe you're going to be very blessed and encouraged . Let's
2:25
take a listen to Lauren Daigle . Let's take
2:27
a listen to Lauren Daigle .
2:30
My life was absolutely spinning out
2:32
of control . I was seeing a neurologist
2:34
, I was going to therapy
2:36
. I was trying to figure out what is going on
2:38
. I didn't realize the weight
2:41
of what I took
2:43
on every night during a show . I
2:45
don't want to sit here and go through life
2:48
just maintaining
2:50
you have to return to me the joy
2:52
of my salvation . We have to stop
2:54
being so busy and there are people out there
2:56
with not a single friend . I want to be
2:58
someone who is known
3:01
as helping eradicate loneliness . So
3:09
in 2018 , we released the
3:11
record Look Up Child and
3:14
it really did change the trajectory
3:16
of my life . I remember we
3:18
had just finished touring in Australia
3:21
when 2020 rolled around
3:23
, but we had started
3:25
on the United States leg of the world
3:27
tour . I think we had something like
3:30
72 shows lined up for
3:32
that and a show number 10
3:35
or 12 it was . Everything came
3:37
to a crashing halt . You think in
3:39
moments like that , where the bottom
3:41
drops out , you'll have it a little bit more together
3:43
than what I did . I
3:46
remember the isolation part
3:48
wasn't something that was new to me . I
3:50
had been in isolation in high school . I had an illness
3:53
, so I was placed on homebound for two years
3:55
and was experiencing true
3:57
isolation . A lot of people were
4:00
isolated together during the pandemic
4:02
, like the whole world kind of shut down In
4:05
high school , only my world shut down
4:07
. So it was definitely a different experience
4:09
. But I remember feeling
4:12
the isolation in 2020
4:15
and thinking this is actually one of
4:17
the best gifts that life could have given me , that
4:19
God could have given me right now , because it
4:21
made me have to be still and
4:23
reconcile with the fact that my life was
4:26
absolutely spinning out of control . I
4:29
remember , in this isolation
4:31
, being so grateful for it because
4:33
I I was able to refine
4:35
the beauty of life again
4:37
in the simple things like walking to the
4:39
grocery store and seeing someone smile on
4:41
the street corner , finding
4:44
time with family again that was just so
4:46
rich and being able
4:48
to redeem some of the years that had been gone
4:51
for so long . So there was
4:53
really really beautiful elements . But with
4:56
my world coming to a crashing halt , it
4:58
was like whiplash . It wasn't just
5:01
. My mom often talks about that time
5:03
she was telling a friend like
5:05
for Lauren , it wasn't just that
5:07
the world shut down , it was also that
5:09
her life prior to the world shutting down
5:11
was moving at a speed that wasn't even
5:13
good for humanity as
5:16
a whole right , it's not good for a human being to
5:18
be going that fast . But not only were
5:20
they going that fast , they didn't just come back to
5:22
regular life , they then went
5:25
backwards to having to be completely still
5:27
, and the thing that was the hardest for me
5:29
during that time was not
5:31
having any correspondence
5:35
or interaction with people . I
5:37
remember thinking to myself
5:39
like I didn't realize
5:42
the weight of what I
5:44
took on every night during a
5:46
show , like I get excited
5:48
. I look for those responses in
5:50
people's faces . I say God , where are you
5:52
meeting this individual ? How can I
5:54
partner with you in bringing love and
5:57
joy and hope to those people
5:59
? When you're doing like 900 Zoom concerts
6:01
, it doesn't really feel the same because you don't
6:03
have people on
6:05
the other side that you can extend
6:08
love to in those moments the way that you
6:10
would in a live show . It
6:13
was definitely difficult and
6:15
from that experience I started dealing
6:17
with a lot of anxiety , a lot of depression
6:20
, a lot of panic attacks , and
6:23
I was seeing a neurologist
6:25
, I was going to therapy
6:27
, I was trying to figure out what is going on
6:29
. My life just felt like it
6:32
was fully flipped upside
6:34
down , and I feel like that's a relatable story
6:36
for a lot of people . I feel like a lot of people
6:38
experienced a very similar maybe
6:41
not from like a stage kind
6:43
of thing or having a platform
6:46
, but from the sense
6:48
of life was one way , and now I'm
6:50
being told a completely different construct
6:52
that I'm having to give in to . That was
6:54
really really tough
6:56
. And so , through
6:59
the panic and through the anxiety , I
7:01
say God , you have to return to me
7:04
the joy of my salvation , like the true
7:07
joy . I don't want to be , I
7:09
don't want to sit here and go through life
7:11
just maintaining
7:14
. I want to go through life with exuberance
7:16
, with zeal , with passion . I
7:18
don't want to maintain what
7:20
I've created , what's been
7:22
created for me over the past 10 years . And
7:25
when you allow God to come
7:27
into those broken places and
7:30
say I'll return to you the joy
7:32
of your salvation , it is like
7:34
this beautiful lens
7:37
gets added to your , your eyes
7:39
, and you're able to see through . It's
7:41
like the glory filter , like walking
7:44
through life and seeing the kingdom
7:46
versus the things in the natural , like
7:48
looking at scenarios and saying , oh
7:50
, I can run into that scenario because
7:52
I know who has me , I
7:54
know who holds me and
7:57
pursuing even trials and
7:59
tribulations with joy . I
8:02
found myself really interested
8:04
in what Paul talked about when he said
8:07
consider it joy , my friends , whenever
8:09
X , y and Z happens , whenever troubles
8:11
come , or how he could be
8:13
content in all things , whether
8:15
he was in prison , whether he was
8:17
in a shipwreck or whether
8:20
he was , like you know , king
8:22
of the world . Right , he , he found
8:24
contentment in all things and
8:27
that began to be the prayer on my
8:29
lips . Like I want to figure out this
8:31
contentment . What does this look like
8:33
? To have everything and to have nothing and feel
8:35
the exact same , like I want that
8:38
wholeness , if you will . And
8:40
so from 2020 and 2020
8:43
and 2021 , the chaos of what was there
8:45
it was like 2022 was
8:47
the rebuilding in 2023 , I feel like I'm
8:50
I'm just , yeah , I'm excited
8:52
about what God has , and the joy
8:54
that I get to feel every day , even in
8:56
the midst of difficulty , is unlike
8:59
anything else in this world . Loneliness
9:01
is a really interesting topic
9:04
. I remember years
9:07
ago , somebody asked me when
9:09
you leave this earth , what is the legacy that
9:11
you want to leave behind ? Like , you have a platform , you have
9:13
a name , all the things . What do you want to leave
9:15
behind ? And I remember it
9:18
wasn't . Oh , I want 900
9:20
Grammys . That sounds great . I'm not
9:22
against it , but the thing that I
9:24
said is I want to be someone
9:26
who is known as helping
9:29
eradicate loneliness , because
9:31
I remember , before I was ever doing music
9:33
, being in high
9:35
school , being in junior high I would look for the lonely
9:37
person in the room , for whatever reason
9:40
. God highlighted loneliness
9:42
to me . It's the feeling that
9:44
I don't like , probably
9:46
the most of all feelings I do not like
9:48
feeling lonely , and
9:51
I'll find myself chasing every
9:54
hour of the night just trying
9:56
to escape going to sleep because
9:58
I don't want to feel lonely . And
10:01
that's a real thing for a lot of people . And
10:03
then some and there are people out there
10:05
with not a single friend , and
10:07
that's a problem . For those who do have friends
10:10
, that's a problem . We need to be more
10:12
active in more people's lives . All
10:14
of that to say . There
10:16
was a mandate in the beginning of time that
10:19
said love your neighbor , as yourself , like
10:21
God wrote it in
10:24
the commandments , right
10:26
, he wants us to love others
10:28
, and one of the things
10:30
that we can do in regards to
10:32
loneliness is love our neighbor . So when
10:34
you go to the grocery store and you're sitting
10:36
there checking out , look at the cashier
10:38
and say how's your day ? What's
10:40
going on ? How can I put
10:43
a smile on your face today ? When you're
10:45
walking on the sidewalk and you pass
10:47
someone , you can say , hey
10:49
, I hope you're having a great day , or hello
10:52
, and you just never know what
10:54
a countenance of kindness
10:57
can offer someone . The
10:59
reality is , if we're living by those
11:01
commandments to love your neighbor as yourself
11:04
, to love others we have to stop
11:06
being so busy . We have to be able
11:08
to look at the person next to us and see their scenario
11:10
, see what they're going through and love
11:12
them as we would love ourselves . It
11:15
wasn't the commandment
11:17
to make this much money , the commandment to
11:19
be this successful , the commandment to have this
11:21
many things on your to-do list that get crossed off . It
11:24
was the commandment to love others . And
11:26
so , whenever we look
11:29
at society , the stillness is
11:31
what brings the fruit . And
11:33
so , yeah , I would say
11:35
, how can music help ? How
11:38
can we , as Christians , help solve
11:40
this problem of loneliness ? I would say
11:42
it's to be present and to see others in
11:44
their situation , not in the situation
11:47
you want them to be in , but actually
11:49
in their situation . How can you go
11:51
and tend to their needs right then and that moment
11:53
, whether it's just someone on the side of the
11:55
road , like you can talk to homeless people . It's
11:57
okay , you know you can say
11:59
hello to a homeless person and keep
12:01
going on your day . But I
12:03
find myself really seeing Jesus
12:06
the most clear in those moments
12:08
. And I'm not delighted
12:10
in those moments but like , actually
12:12
you'll find you thought you were going to
12:14
help them or give them a smile and
12:17
your heart will light up in a way that you haven't felt
12:19
in years . That's
12:22
what my journey has been over the past couple of years
12:24
, talking to people again . I think a lot of
12:26
times in media we can read
12:28
where this
12:30
headline is saying
12:32
this , this headline saying this , this headline saying this
12:35
, and it makes you want to not engage
12:37
with humanity . It makes you kind of like
12:39
I got to keep this protection mechanism
12:41
up at all times . Or else what
12:43
if the bottom drops out and I'm caught on camera
12:46
, you know , or whatever . I
12:49
think those headlines kind of naturally
12:52
psychologically dictate that we would be
12:54
more of a reserved people . That's
12:57
not . That isn't actually what Jesus would
12:59
want . He would want us to run
13:02
into the world and say oh
13:04
, let me show you kindness , let me show you
13:06
love , let me show you hope , and with
13:08
that . It comes with interacting with the people around
13:10
us . How can music help ? Let's get
13:12
back to that . Music can help , because
13:14
there's something really powerful about music
13:16
that it opens up the doors to the soul . It opens
13:19
up the doors to the spirit . It's the
13:21
universal language . God can come through
13:23
the airwaves and make you feel things that
13:25
you haven't felt in years . He can make
13:27
you feel passionate , he can make you feel
13:29
love , he can make you feel joy , he
13:32
can make you feel sorrow , he can make you feel grief
13:34
. There's so many things that
13:36
can come through the medium of music
13:38
, and music
13:41
has this way of interacting and intersecting
13:43
our stories right when we need it . I've
13:46
heard so many people say that they were
13:48
going to end their life and then a song
13:51
came right at that moment and it
13:53
changed everything for them . It gave them a new
13:55
, fresh perspective , a fresh way
13:57
of hope , and I think
13:59
that's the power of God interacting
14:02
with our stories in a song . And
14:04
there's something about music
14:06
that allows those walls that
14:08
we've protected ourselves with to just come
14:10
down ever so slightly in , for God
14:13
to come and meet with us , and
14:15
that's the power of music . It's a really beautiful
14:17
thing , the thing that's really special about having
14:20
community regarding
14:22
music , regarding radio stations , regarding
14:24
music being on the radio , these
14:26
stories , these lyrics , in
14:30
particular , running its way into
14:33
your car stereo , your house
14:35
stereo , like there's something
14:37
about that that's really powerful and
14:41
to me , I have seen
14:43
incredible fruit . I've had
14:45
people write stories that say
14:47
, hey , I was going through this at this time
14:49
, I was experiencing cancer at this time and I heard
14:51
this song on the radio and it became the song
14:54
that I listened to every time I was doing chemotherapy
14:56
. I had to go through countless
14:58
surgeries and this was the song that I played
15:00
in the OR . I
15:03
lost a loved one and at that
15:05
time , as they were taking their final breath
15:07
, we played this song . I
15:10
was going through divorce and I was completely
15:13
alone and I remember
15:15
this song met me right
15:17
when I needed it . Countless stories
15:20
, people who went to in their
15:22
life . I had this one lady
15:24
tell me and this
15:26
is really intense , but this
15:29
was one story that just stuck with me so
15:31
profoundly . She said that she
15:34
had an abortion 10
15:37
years prior to this
15:40
song and she said
15:42
she couldn't lift her head off the pillow
15:44
Like the grief . She
15:46
thought she was doing the right thing and
15:49
then it ended up being just a
15:51
really tragic situation . And
15:54
she said for years and years she dealt
15:56
with shame and she didn't know how to interact
15:59
with the world , how to get up again after
16:02
that . And she
16:04
said she heard how can it be for the first time
16:06
and it was the first time in 10
16:08
years that she was like , okay
16:10
, I can face the day . And when
16:13
you see that music
16:15
can be on a radio station
16:17
right when someone needs it , that a
16:19
song can come right when someone needs
16:22
it and redefine their
16:24
worth , redefine the way
16:26
God sees them , there's something
16:28
that only
16:31
music can do with that
16:33
right . And so I think a
16:35
lot of times there's this bonding agent . That
16:37
happens too with music . So for
16:39
me , I get the privilege of being on stage and seeing
16:41
it happen in front of my eyes , but people
16:44
will bond over a song . I
16:46
remember this lady telling
16:48
me this story of coming to one of the concerts
16:51
alone , and there
16:54
was this fan forum or something
16:56
of people telling their stories of going
16:58
to a concert and she
17:00
mentioned that she was going to go by herself . Well , this other
17:02
lady was going by herself and she said well , I'm going , we
17:05
should actually just go , let's meet up and
17:07
go together . So they met outside of
17:09
the show and they
17:11
came to the show together . They became best friends
17:13
from that scenario and then moved to the same town
17:16
so that they had friendship . This
17:18
goes back to talking about loneliness . People
17:21
find community through music . People
17:23
find love and
17:26
compassion and a sense of purpose
17:28
with music . That is really
17:30
, really powerful and I
17:32
got to witness that with my own eyes . Two
17:34
individual stories that might have
17:36
experienced loneliness and music
17:39
brought friendship . So
17:41
I say all of that to say I
17:43
think the power of music to bring
17:46
community through radio stations
17:48
is a really beautiful thing that we have
17:50
in the world .

Welcome back
19:42
listeners .
19:55
Weren't those some encouraging
19:58
words from the testimony
20:00
of Lauren Dago ? Wow
20:02
, it just makes us think that
20:05
when we love others
20:07
, when we are looking
20:09
at the world through the kingdom eyes
20:12
, what Jesus wants
20:14
us to see , we see people
20:16
needing a smile
20:18
, compassion , some joy
20:21
. You know , too many
20:23
of us look for
20:25
what's going wrong with
20:27
the world and there's a lot of things going
20:30
wrong , but there are many
20:32
, many things going right
20:34
in the world People like
20:36
Lauren Dago sharing her love
20:38
on the stage every night somewhere
20:41
. What about you ? I know
20:43
you are doing good things . Maybe
20:45
you're smiling at people that are
20:48
in a grocery line , that look like they're
20:50
having trouble . Maybe you say
20:52
hi to the homeless people . Maybe
20:54
you do some work at
20:56
your church or the nursing
20:58
homes . Whatever it is , we can never
21:01
stop . The world needs love
21:03
. The Bible says
21:05
that God is love and
21:08
when we carry around
21:10
Jesus inside of us , we
21:12
have the power to
21:14
eradicate loneliness
21:17
. As Lauren said , what a
21:19
goal to have to
21:21
eradicate loneliness
21:24
. Loneliness is when
21:26
people do strange
21:28
things . That's when
21:30
addiction happens . That's when self
21:33
harm happens . We
21:35
have the ability and the
21:37
power and the strength
21:39
and the wisdom and we need
21:42
the courage to share
21:44
Jesus with someone . No
21:46
, you don't have to stand
21:48
on a soapbox and start preaching
21:50
to them . You can meet them
21:53
where they are at . Just
21:56
listen , have a conversation
21:59
. I remember when
22:01
Lauren Dago was in concert
22:03
, I had brought them in with Big Daddy Weave
22:05
, jason Gray and Citizens Wait . They
22:08
said about 2 pm in the afternoon
22:10
that everybody would have to leave the auditorium
22:13
and I thought , wow , wonder what that means
22:15
. So I'm a promoter , you
22:17
know , I'm paying all the bills . So I said I'm going to stay
22:19
around and see . And what they
22:22
did had a very
22:24
strong impact on me to this
22:26
day . They went
22:28
and prayed over every single
22:31
chair in that auditorium
22:33
. In other words , what
22:35
you see on stage with these Christian
22:38
artists , it's the real
22:41
deal and music is
22:43
so powerful
22:45
. I don't know if many of you listen
22:47
to Christian music , but Christian
22:50
music is good music and
22:52
a lot of the country music is good music
22:54
. I just don't get into a lot of that new
22:57
age stuff Cause I'm an old . I'm
22:59
an old timer . I like the
23:02
easy going stuff , but music
23:04
is powerful . Music meets
23:06
us and the words meet us where
23:09
we are at . Don't
23:11
all of us have a special song
23:13
in our life that really means something
23:15
to us . Well , why not today
23:17
? Make a commitment that you're
23:20
going to do your part to eradicate
23:23
loneliness . Smile
23:25
, love , compassion . Look
23:27
at the world with those kingdom eyes
23:30
. Don't be afraid to
23:32
reach out to people that look
23:34
different , act different and are different
23:36
. That's exactly what Jesus
23:38
would do . I ask people all the time
23:40
do you think Jesus , if he was walking
23:42
the streets today , do you think he'd go
23:45
into a church ? Heck , no , I
23:47
think he would be walking the streets and the
23:49
bars and the lounges , in all
23:51
the crazy places , because
23:54
he wants to go where
23:56
people need hope , where they
23:58
need love , and in the meantime
24:01
, until he returns , he wants us to
24:03
walk in those places
24:06
. In other words , friends
24:08
, part of our destiny
24:10
is to be the hands and
24:12
feet of Jesus . Friends
24:15
, you can do it . I know you
24:17
can . That's why you're listening to this show
24:19
, because something is telling you that
24:22
God is about . You're
24:24
listening to Get the Hell Out of your Life
24:26
with your host , Ron Myers . Real
24:29

25:09
I read once that adversity is never
25:11
reliable evidence that God is opposed
25:13
to you . The world is broken and
25:15
we all go through difficult times of one sort
25:18
or another . There are even times
25:20
when we truly suffer and hope seems
25:22
lost . This can be especially disappointing
25:25
when we carry an expectation that
25:27
life will only have smooth sailing
25:29
. We need someone or something to blame
25:31
, and God becomes one of those scapegoats
25:33
. However , the truth is
25:35
that the only answer to those at first times
25:37
is Jesus . Jesus
25:40
offers hope when we are filled with fear
25:42
. He offers peace when
25:44
we only see trouble . He offers purpose
25:46
when we are lost . We
25:48
were created for and need that
25:50
kind of personal relationship with Jesus
25:53
Christ . If you want to learn how
25:55
to trust Jesus as your Lord and Savior

26:07
Ron will be back in a moment to wrap up
26:09
today's conversation . We want to
26:11
encourage you today with God's promise
26:13
to you . It comes from
26:16
the book of Jeremiah , chapter 29
26:18
, verse 11 . For I know the
26:20
plans I have for you , declares
26:22
the Lord . Plans to prosper
26:25
you and not to harm you . Plans
26:27
to give you hope and the future
26:29
. That's God's promise
26:32
to you when you
26:34
choose to commit your plans
26:36
and future to Him . Now
26:39
back to Ron .
26:41
Well , friends , my time is up . Spend

26:46

26:48
and isolated , open

26:52
Jesus . When you give Jesus
26:55
your heart , he will give you peace
26:57
and , most of all , he will
26:59
give you answers . Remember
27:02
