This episode, we talk about Joe Exotic, the star of the Netflix documentary series Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness.  Who is the real villain?
Tiger King is full of villains.  Joe Exotic is no exception.  He is the anti-hero in this tale, but is he the worst of the lot?
Joseph Allen Maldonado-Passage AKA Joe Exotic started out his career with animals by opening a pet shop with his brother Garold in Texas in 1986.  They quickly caught the attention of law enforcement with their repeated code violations.
Tragedy struck when Joe’s brother died in a car accident.  Joe sold the pet shop soon afterward and opened up Garold Wayne Exotic Animal Memorial Park.

Fame

In 2011, Joe was one of the subjects of the Louis Theroux series America’s Most Dangerous Pets.  He was also the subject of The Life Exotic, a documentary on his zoo in 2016.

But recently it was the Netflix documentary series Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness that made him infamous.
Joe also made some fantastic music videos such as I Saw a Tiger which is a classic.
Joe did not sing but mimes the songs.  The sexy voice and music is by Danny Clinton & Vince Johnson.

Carole Baskins

Carol Baskins was portrayed as Joe’s arch nemesis with him making numerous videos about Carole and her alleged hypocrisy regarding the safety of tigers.
He also accused Baskins of murdering her husband and feeding him to tigers.  This is beautifully portrayed in his music video Here Kitty Kitty.

During a back and forth campaign between Joe and Carole culminated in Joe’s use of Caroles copyrighted trademarks.  Carole then successfully sued joe for and received a $1 million settlement.

Death Threats

With dept looming and both an unsuccessful presidential and Governor run, Joe found money drying up fast.  He enlisted the help of a vegas businessman Jeff Lowe who would later be the owner of the park.
Joe made multiple threats against Carole’s life and seemed to want her to be murdered.  Whether he would have went through with it is up for debate.
We only scratch the surface of this story and eagerly await season two.
