Brita De Stefano, a pediatric Physical Therapist and owner of a mobile, in-home and virtual practice called Progress Through Play which supports children from birth to 5 years old. She offers traditional physical therapy along with infant developmental wellness. Brita graduated from Tulane University with a bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience in 2007 and then attended Emory University where she received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT). She went on to complete a one year pediatric physical therapy residency program through the University of Central Arkansas and in 2013 she became board certified as a Pediatric Specialist (PCS). Brita has worked in a wide variety of pediatric therapy settings including acute care, school-based, outpatient clinics, early intervention, sub-acute rehabilitation centers etc. She has a background in dance and has also taught ballet classes for children with special needs. Throughout her career as a pediatric PT she has become increasingly passionate about serving infants and toddlers and helping to establish the building blocks of motor development.

In this episode, Brita and James talked about how easier it is to control the environment than to control the child, why kids do not need too many toys in their play space, and how to validate kids’ emotions.
