Neo-Paganism, a collection of rituals and beliefs that take inspiration from pre-Christian polytheism in Europe and the Middle East, has appealed to new practitioners throughout the West, including many on the political left and on the extreme right. We trace its development from academic circles in Central Europe in to its growth through the 1960s counter-culture in the United States.
