gone cold podcast - texas true crime is you guessed it cold cases out of Texas. gone cold podcast - texas true crime is hosted by Vince with research and production by Cristina and Erica. Gone Cold as I’m going to refer to it from now on covers cases in a narrative format telling the stories of missing people and unsolved homicides across the state of Texas. The thing I truly love about Gone Cold is that I can usually feel very confident that I don’t know about the case majority of the time and lets be real in True Crime that can be hard to say sometimes. So with Gone Cold I can hit play and learn about a case that others may of brushed to the side, collected dust or overall has been forgotten. That is the major appeal to this show, Vince breathes life back into the cases others have laid to rest so to speak and half the battle for these families is getting publicity and making sure people don’t forget. I also appreciate the level of sound design Vince and his team has put into post production since it’s a fully Narrative driven show I particularly really enjoy the clarity of the audio. So if you’re looking to add a new True Crime podcast to your queue but worried you’re just going to get a bunch of repeats look no further than gone cold podcast - texas true crime.
Short and sweet. Good storytelling voice.
Gone Cold - No Spoilers! This true-crime podcast started in 2017 by Vincent Strange and Erica Lea out of Fort Worth, Texas, and focuses on the state’s underreported cases. Vincent is the main speaker of the show with Erica playing a much more behind-the-scenes but just as important role of editor and writer. She also voices the intro and Strange does help write the script as well. Sidenote: the rumors on Reddit are true! Vincent Strange is really a pseudonym. One of the more noticeable aspects of the show is Strange’s radio voice which has been described in places like Reddit and the show’s reviews as sounding like William Shatner’s. I actually really like it along with the pod’s excellent research and writing. Part of which the hosts credit to their brilliant backup team, Dianne and Kim, who help out with cases and the Facebook discussion group. This is a pretty serious true-crime podcast that leaves the jokes and drinking for others. You can tell not in just the writing but Strange’s voice that the victims and their families and communities are really cared about. Apple Podcasts has 4.4 average stars and 1,100 ratings. It’s still current with new episodes coming out weekly on Wednesdays. The show sometimes releases a few episodes on a case but does do single episode cases. I really like this because it shows they aren’t rushed. If they want/need a few episodes to cover a case they take it instead of trying to cram or cut down on information to fit it into a 30-minute episode. Owltail has the top episodes as The Tragic Disappearance & Murder of Hailey Dunn and Carla Walker, Part Three: Rodney. I found Walker County Jane Doe and The Killing Fields of Montgomery County to be really fascinating. The pod has definitely become one I look forward to listening to as soon as new episodes drop. Similar Pods: Montana Murder Mysteries, Going West: True Crime, and Ohio Valley True Crime.
One of the top Cold Case podcasts - focus on the State of Texas. Texas, big for murder; big on the death penalty.
I think this is a great example of a true crime podcast that dives deep into an unsolved case. The research is phenomenal, with audio clips and much more, and I appreciate the fact that they break up the cases over a span of several episodes to keep you coming back for more.If you want to learn more about unsolved cases from the Lone Star State, this is a great podcast to check out.
