recreates the words of a slain

his own murder on YouTube, where

Good Risings. I'm Brian, and

0:53

this is grateful Grains.

0:58

Welcome back. We're on the final

1:00

day of our week, spiritual awakening.

1:02

It's all about freeing ourselves from

1:04

the things that get in the way of us knowing and

1:06

embracing who we are deep down and

1:09

directing ourselves toward the future

1:11

self the us we'd like to become.

1:14

Monday, we talked unpacking suppressed emotions.

1:17

Tuesday, we had a brief conversation on meta station.

1:19

Wednesday, we dove into shadow work.

1:22

Yesterday,

1:22

we explored the trifecta of peace,

1:24

compassion, empathy, and gratitude. And

1:26

today, we're reprogramming belief systems.

1:29

Our identity, who we believe we

1:32

are, is the accumulation of

1:34

all our life experiences, and

1:36

our conscious and subconscious perception

1:39

of those events. It's often

1:41

rooted in our earliest memories.

1:43

The things that we found pride in, the things that

1:45

we attached to. Our critical

1:48

minds generate beliefs and opinions

1:50

as a result. We see and

1:52

judge the world. From a perspective

1:55

based entirely on what's unfolded in

1:57

and around us thus far. Our

1:59

traumas,

1:59

our victories, our disappointments,

2:03

how we've been loved and how we've been

2:05

rewarded, how we've been punished

2:07

and how we've punished ourselves, all

2:09

play a role in our thoughts and feelings

2:11

about not only ourselves, but the

2:13

world around us. This is

2:15

why our response to external topics,

2:18

events, People situations are

2:20

often prefabricated. They're

2:23

not necessarily coming from analytical

2:25

thought, They're coming from that

2:27

subconscious gut reaction, our

2:30

innate response. We

2:32

filter those subconscious thoughts of opinions

2:34

and reactions by introducing consciousness

2:37

to the idea before letting it out

2:39

into the world. And that takes quite

2:41

a bit of extra effort for someone who's

2:43

not well practiced in the discipline. So

2:46

how do we change those automated responses

2:48

if they're so deeply ingrained in who

2:50

we are. Well, sometimes

2:52

it takes us detaching from our identity

2:55

altogether. It's a little bit like

2:57

moving a house off its foundation and onto

2:59

an entirely different foundation. That

3:02

being said, a lot of people, if not

3:04

everyone, go through these kinds

3:06

of monumental changes in life naturally,

3:09

and the shifts happen in every direction.

3:11

Devout Christians can lose faith and

3:14

set out to rediscover what morality

3:16

means outside of God.

3:18

Career criminals can find Jesus

3:20

and become pastors. Sometimes

3:22

it's a slow burn, as information slowly

3:25

chips away at our beliefs, and

3:27

sometimes it's one sudden blow.

3:30

These major changes might cause a

3:32

shift in the perspective that we have

3:34

on our lives thus far. And

3:36

or a shift in the perspective

3:39

that we have on our lives thus far

3:42

brings about major changes. When

3:44

we experience these wake up calls,

3:46

so to speak, our lived experience

3:49

begins to inform our subconscious in

3:51

an entirely new way, whether

3:54

positive, negative, or neutral.

3:56

So let's say we want to make sure these major

3:59

shifts are positive.

4:00

We want to grow in the right direction. How

4:02

do we troll our trajectory when

4:05

the mechanisms are subconscious.

4:07

It boils down to three awareness,

4:10

openness and information.

4:13

Awareness by bringing ourselves

4:15

into the present moment, by giving

4:17

that critical voice in our head, an

4:19

identity and recognizing that

4:21

we're separate from it. We're able

4:23

to meet that voice in our head and give

4:25

it pause before it reinforces our

4:28

beliefs or opinions. And that's when

4:30

we turn to openness. Openeness

4:33

that other truths have valued

4:35

and other truths may better serve

4:37

us It's the simple willingness

4:39

to allow information to shift

4:41

our perspective. And

4:43

from there, information. The

4:45

pursuit of information We

4:48

seek out the alternative answers.

4:50

Let's look at the example of being afraid

4:52

to fly. Maybe a parent figure

4:54

was afraid of flying. We felt heard

4:56

or witnessed that fear at a young

4:58

age. That formed the seed of

5:00

fear in us. From that point,

5:03

confirmation bias led us

5:05

to subconsciously pay closer

5:07

attention to plane accidents throughout

5:09

our lives. We'd likely pay

5:11

closer attention to conversations where

5:14

other people confess their fear of

5:16

flying. In short, we've spent

5:18

our entire lifetime thus far,

5:20

subconsciously galvanizing a deeply

5:22

rooted fear of flight. The

5:25

work of reprogramming begins

5:27

first with awareness. We

5:29

bring awareness to our emotional and psychological

5:31

responses to news about plane

5:33

mishaps. We bring awareness

5:35

to conversations where fears of

5:37

flying are being discussed.

5:39

When new information enters our minds,

5:41

which leads to that habitual fear based

5:43

response or the galvanization of

5:45

that deep seated fear, we

5:47

pause instead.

5:49

We're engaging rather than simply

5:51

reacting reacting reacting. We

5:54

hold the response in our minds eye and

5:57

we consider the idea that it's not

5:59

logical after all, even

6:01

though everything in our body

6:03

is telling us that it is. We

6:05

become open to the idea that when

6:07

we believe to be true in this case

6:10

that flying is dangerous is just a

6:12

small piece of the puzzle of truth.

6:14

A bite sized selection of information

6:17

our minds have been curating over

6:19

the course of our lives. From

6:21

there, we begin to seek out information

6:24

contrary to what we believe. We

6:26

look at states statistics on flight failures.

6:28

Maybe we follow commercial pilots on Instagram.

6:31

We start to pay closer attention to

6:33

success air travel. Maybe

6:35

we even begin to realize that it

6:37

would be impossible to pay close

6:39

attention to every successful plane

6:41

flight. I as thousands upon thousands

6:43

are happening every single day.

6:46

Slowly but surely, we take control

6:48

of that automatic fear response in

6:50

our heads. By dictating a

6:52

conscious confidence in flight. Up

6:55

until now, we've given our fear

6:57

of flying respect as we've under

6:59

stood it to be based in fact. With

7:02

new information, a new perspective, we

7:05

see our fear of flying up until

7:07

now has been irrational and

7:09

it's of the past. It's

7:11

possible to reframe how we think

7:13

about ourselves and the world around us in the

7:15

very same way. Those

7:17

building blocks that make up who we are

7:19

actually can shift, we actually

7:21

can change our minds. And

7:24

in changing our mind, we can

7:26

actually change who we perceive ourselves

7:28

to be. It's more than

7:30

just a beautiful thought. By practicing

7:32

awareness, we can re engage with our subconscious.

7:36

We can enact new habits like reflection,

7:38

positive self talk, and intentional

7:40

joy, and we can legally shift

7:42

the way we feel about ourselves and

7:44

the world around us.

7:46

Keep in mind, those mental shifts can

7:48

work wonders for our physical well-being

7:50

too.
