Dorus and I (Vanessa) have a passion for ecological sustainable travel and we want to share some of the things we've learnt and enjoyed from choosing not to take flights any longer. We discuss how we didn't go to one supermarket in the 6 days of cycling from Barcelona to the Dordogne region, 100km east of Bordeaux.
We both surprised ourselves on this journey when we found ourselves not needing to buy bottled water or little to no plastic along the way. Shopping at local markets, getting a bunch of bananas, a baguette and the occasional coffee. Using an app, Maps.Me, which many travellers know is the offline map with amazing category features! Including public water taps !!! This meant no need for bottled water.
We also explain our previous experience cycling long distance and what we took along the way. We thoroughly enjoy the physical and mental challenge of ecological travel and of course the beautiful journey along the way.
