About Carlos:

I grew up in an abusive home, my father was a drug addict and alcoholic, he was very abusive to my mother, siblings and I both mentally and physically.

My parents split up and my mom raised 3 kids on her own with no support from our father. We when through a lot of hard times. I start down the same path as my father. Started using drugs and alcohol at a young age, was very violent, negative was a thief and a liar.

After several stints in and out of jail between the ages of 17 to 26, I got tired of the life I was living, tried of seeing my mother cry, wanted to be a good influence for my younger siblings when through an intense prison therapy program, got my general education degree (GED) in prison.

Made it my life mission not be like my father to be the best son, brother, father, friend, husband to be the best version of myself in this lifetime. Got out of jail, got a college degree and worked as a system engineer. Feel in love with an exchange student from the Philippines, but she was unable to come back to the USA after 911 attacks,

So I sold everything I had in the USA, house, car, left my job friends and family, followed my heart and when to the Philippines to marry her. In the Philippines I invested all of my life savings in opening a call centre, found out my wife was cheating on me, we separated and my business failed all at the same time.

I was at another low point in my life I had $500 to my name, no source of income and wanted to kill myself, but through personal development and hard work, I overcame a lot of adversities.

Was able to get the job of my dreams that lets me work 100% from anywhere there is an internet connection. Simplified my life, travelled and lived in different parts of Asia, Central and South America training Jiu-Jitsu, my only possessions were my backpack and laptop this was my life for several years. Full-filled a life dream of going to Brasil, training Brazilian Jiujitsu and getting my Blackbelt in Brazil.

Fell in love with a local girl in Brazil, we live in paradise on a small island off the Southern coast of Brasil called Florianopolis. I have the family of my dreams, 3 beautiful kids and a beautiful wife, have the dream job that allows me to work 100% remotely from anywhere in the World, I am also an inspiring entrepreneur host of @mentaljitz podcast where I go into the minds of high-level Jiu-Jitsu athletes and I am also the coach for the kids Jiu-Jitsu team and an active competitor in the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu circuit.

This is just a short version of my story, there were a lot of failures and adversity I had to overcome to recovery. I still feel I have many goals I need to accomplish and feel that giving back and sharing my story is one of them. My goal is to share my story and experiences to show that change is possible at any level of life and that anyone can be who they really want to be in life and not be a victim to their past.
