We had the privilege of talking with PJ Mercanti, the CEO of Carmens Group, one of Southern Ontario’s most dynamic hospitality, entertainment, food-service, and development companies. PJ also serves as President of the Hamilton Urban Precinct Entertainment Group (HUPEG), the consortium responsible for the revitalization of downtown Hamilton’s entertainment venues.

PJ is a proud Hamiltonian, a passionate family man, and a dedicated community leader who has been actively involved in various initiatives and spearheaded fundraising efforts. He has also played a key role in securing major events for Hamilton, such as the NHL Heritage Classic, Canadian Country Music Awards, CFL Grey Cup Festival, and Canadian Open golf events.

PJ has garnered attention from national media outlets for his events produced through Carmens Group. Additionally, through his holding company, Mercanti Enterprises, PJ is involved in various creative endeavours, including writing published articles and short stories, and keynote speaking for LeaderImpact Group.

He was recognized as CEO of the Year by the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce in 2023, as one of Canada’s Top 45 Entrepreneurs by The Globe and Mail in 2016, and as one of the 30 Most Influential People in Hamilton by Urbanicity Magazine in 2015.
