Northeast Georgia Medical Center Braselton has marked a significant milestone by becoming the first hospital in north Georgia to offer the NanoKnife System for prostate cancer treatment. This cutting-edge technology provides a minimally invasive surgical option, allowing surgeons to precisely target and treat hard-to-reach tumors using small probes that deliver electrical currents, thereby sparing surrounding tissues from damage.

Dr. Ron Lewis, the medical director for perioperative services at NGMC, expressed enthusiasm for the introduction of the NanoKnife treatment, highlighting its potential to minimize damage to healthy tissue, reduce side effects, and facilitate a faster recovery compared to conventional methods involving freezing or burning the tumor.
