An amazing mix of poetry, social commentary and audio loveliness, this is a wonderful snow that everyone should listen to. I highly recommend it to everyone with ears.
This show blew me away right from the jump. George's storytelling is immersive, hypnotic and really not like anything else I've heard. Put on some headphones, settle in and enjoy ... and close your eyes when he tells you to.
I found out about this show last month and listened to both seasons over the course of about two weeks. I was really impressed by the way this show is innovating and pushing the medium, using elements of spoken word, audio drama, hip hop, and cultural commentary. George the Poet talks about race and class in the UK, as well as the political situation of his home country, Uganda, and his relationship to both countries. He also presents a longform meditation on the creative process and the relationship between artist, art, and audience that I found quite compelling. I don't know if there will be a third season of this show but I look forward to seeing what George the Poet will do next.
Utterly sublime storytelling that merges spoken word poetry, news, ruminations about art and activism, and reclaiming narratives about minorities and the migrant crisis. Swept the British Podcast Awards for good reason.
