Welcome to Haventalk by Haventec, a Digital Privacy podcast.

Haventec is a Digital Privacy company, based in Sydney, Australia. It was born out of a simple but compelling question - can your digital identity and your sensitive data be protected online? Is it possible to be truly private and what can companies do to take responsibility for their employees and their customers?

Haventalk by Haventec will examine these questions over the course of the next 6 months from a global perspective. We’ll look at the impact of breaches on businesses, we’ll examine how cryptography has evolved, we’ll seek out the best innovations out there.

In this episode, we’re going to talk about trust. And the role that trust will play in an increasingly regulated, but fractured, digital world.

We speak with Professor Dali Kaafar from the Faculty of Science and Engineering, MQ Computing Department at Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia.

Dali is the Executive Director of The Optus Macquarie University Cyber Security Hub and director of the Data Security and Privacy R&D Program.

He is working in Emerging Technologies with a vision to enable Explicit Trust in the Digital Economy. His research interests include Data Security and Privacy, with a focus on Privacy-Preserving (or Enhancing) technologies and Information Security for Web and Mobile applications, (Provably) private date sharing and Trustworthy Secure and Private Machine learning techniques.

Prior to joining Macquarie University, he was group leader (and founder) of the Information Security and Privacy group at CSIRO Data61, a principal researcher at National ICT Australia (NICTA) and a permament researcher at the Privatics team at INRIA in France.
