Hawks Live presented by the

0:02

Dining District at the Bellevue Collection at

0:04

Bellevue Square Center Court, every

0:06

Thursday from seven to nine, live on air

0:08

on Seattle Sports.

0:10

No.

0:11

If you're your host, Michael Bumpis

0:12

and Paul Moyer.

0:15

Welcome back to Hawks Live presented

0:18

by the Bellvue Collection on Michael Bompas here

0:20

at Bellvy Square Center Court every Thursday,

0:22

well the next two thursdays. I should say, Man,

0:24

it's been a long season. We had

0:26

a couple weeks off, but now we are

0:29

back.

0:29

Man.

0:29

Lots has happened since the last time

0:32

we.

0:32

Got together with our people here at Bellevue Square.

0:34

Man, the Hawks have been They've been

0:36

on a losing streak and as of late, they

0:38

lost to the San Francisco Forward.

0:40

No, sorry, the Cowboys. We got to the Ford

0:42

Dowartis next. They lost to the Cowboys,

0:45

and the offense did some things. Man, nine

0:47

to fourteen on third down. Actually,

0:49

let me back up, Moyer. How you doing?

0:51

Man?

0:52

I got right into it. I even saying with something to my man's

0:54

man, how you doing, Moyer?

0:56

Well, we've been out hanging out already prepping

0:58

for this thing.

0:59

I'm good. It was a good trip.

1:01

Went to Dallas for the game,

1:03

really thought, damn we were gonna win that game.

1:06

Felt good about it going into it as well.

1:09

And we should have won that game, Bump. I mean

1:11

we actually we probably should have beat them by twenty one

1:13

points.

1:14

There.

1:14

We just the some key

1:17

plays, three fourth down plays that we

1:19

should have executed on. One of them

1:22

would have probably won the game. We were up five points

1:24

at that time. I thought we just did

1:26

some really good things offensively. But

1:29

now, Bump, and it was good to see my grandkids,

1:32

my kids.

1:32

That was fun.

1:33

But now we got we

1:36

got a team of forty nine ers. That man,

1:40

they're playing at another level, another level.

1:43

Last time we played them, I actually thought we

1:45

matched up pretty well. I was somewhat

1:48

confident that we would compete and win

1:50

that game. I feel the opposite

1:53

today, which means we're gonna probably win Sunday. Forty

1:57

nine ers are just playing

1:59

at another level. Now, I don't mean a skill

2:01

level.

2:02

Let's hold on on the Niners. Let's talk more about

2:04

the Cowboys.

2:05

Well, you're you're the hoe.

2:06

Let's talk more about the cowboys.

2:07

Oh, there we go. Oh that's the first question.

2:08

Here we go.

2:09

It's the cowboys, all right, well, we'll get to the Niners.

2:11

We know what they present. They beat up on Philly, got

2:13

everybody shook right now. Okay, but let's talk about

2:16

the Cowboys. What the Niners? What

2:18

the what?

2:19

The Sea Alls did well against the

2:21

Cowboys.

2:22

Man good on third down nine to fourteen,

2:24

the best they've been all year. The offense

2:26

finally shows up Gino Smith three hundred

2:28

and thirty four yards, his second highest

2:31

total of the year, three touchdowns, the

2:33

most he scored this year. DK Metcalf

2:36

looks like a number one receiver one

2:38

hundred and thirty four yards and three touchdowns.

2:40

The positives were on the offensive side.

2:42

Of the ball.

2:43

Yeah what Dk?

2:45

Also, what hit about twenty three miles an hour

2:47

on that one touchdown?

2:48

Beautiful throw.

2:49

And they really work their corners, particularly

2:52

Darren Bland. Even though Darren had an

2:54

interception, he's got five interceptions

2:56

for touchdown and NFL record. We

2:59

absolutely schooled him for over two hundred

3:01

yards. Would have been worse. Now if one of

3:03

the big plays. I have five plays that turned

3:06

that game around. I mean, it's the first time in history

3:08

that somebody scored thirty five points, never

3:11

punted, lost the game. That was Unfortunately

3:13

the sixth time in NFL history that

3:16

two teams never punted in a game, and

3:18

the Seahawks were really good offensively, but it could

3:20

have been better. And what I mean by better

3:23

is we had a fourth and one that

3:25

was there.

3:25

It would be would have ice the game.

3:27

We were up five points at the time, and

3:30

we just didn't seal it off properly.

3:32

We went for a fake that the guy tried

3:34

to jump outside. We should have let him go outside.

3:37

He ended up coming inside making that play. That

3:40

probably the biggest one. The guy that we count on more

3:42

than anybody, who's the most dependable player.

3:44

We have one of the clolest cats in the world.

3:47

I mean, Tyler Lockett drops a

3:49

touchdown on Bland, who would have had the

3:52

probably given up four touchdowns at that point,

3:54

you know, pushing two hundred and seventy yards that

3:56

would have put us up, you know, at thirteen fourteen

3:59

points that point, so really

4:01

disappointing. And in the refs, I mean,

4:03

I don't like to bring the rest in, but man,

4:06

I mean two pass interference calls. It

4:08

just were not pass interference calls. I don't know

4:10

what it is anymore. So frustrating game.

4:13

We played really well even I

4:15

would say defensively at times we

4:17

had four sacks. Dak had not given up a

4:19

sack or they hadn't been sacked in three

4:21

games previous.

4:23

It's just the.

4:24

Key plays getting off on third down.

4:27

And to me, the biggest play of the game

4:29

for me personally was we had

4:31

just taken the lead seven to three. We

4:34

had gotten a sack on deck. It was third

4:36

and sixteen. We're going to get the ball

4:38

back and they get a first

4:40

down on us, and shit, and it was a checkdown and we

4:42

had two guys not play it well.

4:44

I won't going to all that. Those

4:46

are the.

4:46

Things were used as a

4:48

coach. Go they they weren't

4:50

better than we were. We just didn't execute

4:53

on the key plays that you know, if we

4:55

just play football, just do what we're supposed

4:57

to do. Break on the quarterback on

4:59

top, be in the right position, use

5:02

help in tackling. We

5:04

win that game going away. So disappointing,

5:06

and you know, it's three games in a row now,

5:09

you know, and that Ram game we should

5:11

have won.

5:11

We gave up a fourth quarter, League gave.

5:13

Up ten points there, we're up eight points

5:15

on Dallas. You gotta finish games,

5:17

man, Otherwise, you're six and seven in your fight

5:19

for a playoff spot.

5:20

Yeah, you got to take advantage of these opportunities,

5:23

man, some more positives. The Hawks were four for

5:25

five in the red zone. That's been a struggle, right, third

5:27

down and red zone. Also

5:30

six or six what oh.

5:31

I said, we're six and seven.

5:32

I met six and six.

5:34

People are gonna say he doesn't even know what our record

5:36

is.

5:37

Also something that needs to be tied up a little

5:39

bit. Just the penalties.

5:40

Now.

5:40

You mentioned that some of the calls were bogus.

5:43

I agree, man, I am a receiver, Okay,

5:45

I understand if I played in today's

5:47

game, I might just be starting my

5:50

media career like three years ago because nobody

5:52

will be able to touch me.

5:53

Right.

5:54

But ten penalties for one hundred and thirty

5:56

yards. That's the second time in three weeks that they've

5:58

reached about one hundred and twenty plus yard. When it comes

6:00

to penalties, you have to clean that up. You

6:02

can't leave it in the hands of the referee. But on the other

6:04

side, the Dallas Cowboys had nine penalties

6:07

for one hundred and twenty seven yards as well. Time

6:09

of possession has been an issue throughout the year. The

6:11

Hawks possessed the ball for twenty three minutes, and the Dallas

6:14

Cowboys thirty six minutes. Dallas

6:16

Cowboys put together some drives twelve fourteen

6:18

to fifteen. Dak press out did a good

6:20

job just taking what the defense is given him. But

6:23

you said something to me at dinner

6:25

tonight, and and it's stuck out because

6:27

you know, I do a daily show Monday through Friday

6:29

ten to too bumpa Stacey holl at your boy Curtis

6:33

Rodgers on the ones and twos. I see his people sayre wifey

6:35

over there.

6:37

When we do this show.

6:38

Man, I'm surprised with how many

6:40

people are still saying get rid of Gino,

6:42

get rid of Gino.

6:43

I go, look, man, all right, you have to know.

6:45

Who this team is at this point of the season, right, A six

6:48

and six team, so they're mediocre, but they

6:50

have the potential to put together some performances.

6:53

Gino had himself a game.

6:54

Now, he did have the interception, but overall, what

6:56

does you think of his performance?

6:58

It was the best game of the year by far, is what

7:01

he let the ball loose it last week?

7:03

You know the other times I'm like, man, you got

7:05

to throw in windows that doesn't mean to

7:07

be reckless with the football, but you've

7:09

got to take the shots when you think

7:12

you can thread the needle. And he did that that

7:14

first touchdown to DK. I mean they

7:16

tried to undercut it. They knew it that he

7:18

was going to undercut. His bland is always trying

7:20

to undercut. He threw it high, beautiful

7:22

catch, you know, great throw. He did

7:24

some great things. There was a couple again, I

7:27

got a nitpick. I mean there's a couple of times. Actually

7:30

one of them was that fourth down and four play

7:32

that he threw to jsn If. He had

7:34

a stepped up in the pocket on that one. It

7:37

was a beautiful pocket, but he felt

7:39

heat on his left side and he retreated

7:42

and threw it, you know, kind

7:44

of a hope throw, you know. So he

7:47

could have had a darn near perfect game. But he

7:49

played really well versus a cowboy

7:51

team that's very good in the secondary,

7:54

very good pass rushing team, great linebacker,

7:56

safeties. We're gonna

7:58

need that again, man, because this

8:01

again, I'm not gonna talk about forty nine ers.

8:03

It's gonna be tough. Defensively.

8:06

We were talking about to wrestle a little bit, right. Dallas

8:09

had a drive for seventy five yards.

8:12

They went forty because of penalties

8:15

on that drive, they had nine first

8:17

downs.

8:18

How do you get nine first downs on seventy

8:21

five yards?

8:22

That's a great question. A lot of penalties, penalties.

8:25

We had five penalties on that drive. We

8:27

had a holding penalty. Now other holding

8:29

penalty illegal hit, pass

8:31

interference, and pass interference. It's like, okay,

8:34

already, I go enough. I mean, those

8:36

aren't all holding penals. Are not all

8:38

pass interference penalties. At some point you

8:40

hope they leave it away. But that's what you dealt

8:43

with in Dallas. By the way, man,

8:46

I am not a Dallas Cowboy fan anymore.

8:48

And I don't like their fans. I don't like

8:51

I do not like their Please he was.

8:53

The Lions did.

8:54

He didn't show the pregame show for two hours

8:57

at Jerry World, man, and you

9:00

walked around, you got to know the lay of

9:02

the land. But when the stadium got filled, you

9:05

weren't filling the virue.

9:06

They were obnoxious. The press box was awesome. Their

9:08

amenities are amazing. Their food,

9:11

man, you would have loved it. They had everything,

9:14

I mean, halftime have spread.

9:16

It was really good. I'll tell you how how how

9:18

good it is.

9:18

In Texas postgame

9:22

they bring out the CagA

9:25

Raiders keg for the for the press.

9:28

I'm like, they bring out the keg yes and

9:30

have beers on the postgame show.

9:31

Let's go.

9:32

I know you here, that me

9:35

my god, neven Keg. You know what, let's

9:38

give it a six pack would be good.

9:39

Yeah, six pack. But look, we played well,

9:41

really disappointing. Two of our last three games

9:44

we should have won. And now

9:46

look three games ago we were tied with Dallas

9:48

six, six and three, and they've gone on a

9:50

run that's pretty amazing, and

9:53

and we've we just haven't able

9:55

to finish the games.

9:56

Yeah, it's uh, it's been tough.

9:58

Now, we knew that there was a god in

10:00

front of us, right, It started with the Rams.

10:02

You didn't get that one, and then you get into

10:05

the forty nine Ers and the Cowboys, and you got the Niners

10:07

again, and then the Philadelphia Eagles,

10:09

and we all saw what the

10:11

forty nine ers did to Philly in Philly,

10:14

So yeah, we know this is gonna be a tough task

10:17

in front of us.

10:18

So we shall see.

10:19

Man.

10:19

But you know what, I know you're excited about the Niners.

10:22

I know my guy, Paul Moyer. He watches

10:24

a lot of film. He texts me at like midnight.

10:27

I gotta tell wife he don't worry. It's Paul Moyer.

10:29

It's nobody else. He's got all these ideas.

10:31

So coming up next, man, we'll dive into

10:34

that opponent, the week fourteen opponent. It's the San Francisco

10:36

forty nine ers that is next, and we are

10:38

back right here on Hawk's Lot.

10:45

Hawks Slid presented

10:47

by the Dining District of the Bellevue Collection

10:49

at Bellevue Square Center Core, live

10:51

on air on Seattle Sports.

10:55

You are listening to Hawk's Slab presented by the Dining

10:57

Gusus after Belty Collection, every Thursday

10:59

for the two Thursday right here at

11:01

seven on Seattle Sports Station seventy ten,

11:04

we havet Belvy Square Center Court. And now it's

11:06

time to look at this week's opponents

11:09

to San Francisco forty nine ers. They went to

11:11

Philly. Last week they beat the Eagles

11:13

forty two to nineteen. Rock

11:16

Perty had a day nineteen to twenty seven, three

11:18

hundred and fourteen yards and four touchdowns.

11:20

Christian McCaffrey carried the ball seventeen times

11:22

for ninety three yards and a touchdown.

11:24

Deebo had a rushing touchdown.

11:26

He also had four receptions for one

11:28

sixteen and two touchdowns. He is

11:30

the first receiver for the forty nine

11:32

ers is two thousand and one to have three

11:35

touchdowns in a game.

11:36

The Niners have been rolling their last four

11:39

games.

11:39

Man.

11:40

They have one games by a combined score of one

11:42

hundred and thirty four two forty

11:44

nine, and the Hawks are included in that streak

11:47

about a couple weeks ago.

11:48

So when we look at this team, there's no denying

11:51

that they have weapons.

11:52

You got Deebo, Samuel rock Purty,

11:54

who people are considering an MVP candidate, Christian

11:56

McCaffrey. You got George

11:59

Kittle. Did I say iyuk already? I

12:01

feel like there's so many guys. I don't want to leave anybody

12:03

out. Yeah, Jennings as well, you've been

12:05

watching film, You've been studying this team.

12:08

What are your thoughts when you look at this matchup in the forty

12:11

nine ers overall?

12:11

Well, they're talented, obviously. I mean you can

12:14

make a case for I was just doing it sixteen

12:16

guys who are Pro Bowl

12:19

caliber type of players. They

12:22

have talent, and I don't know if their talent is

12:25

massively better than everybody else,

12:27

but they're really good across the board. I think

12:29

Deebo Samuels is there

12:33

is there's not another player really like him. I'm

12:35

not sure if there is a McCaffrey either. They're

12:38

defensive line. All four of them are Pro

12:40

Bowl caliber players. They're two inside

12:42

linebackers. There's no question they're the two best

12:45

inside linebackers.

12:46

In the league.

12:47

But what makes him so great? I'll

12:51

even throw perty and they're gonna give him a little love.

12:53

He's having a phenomenal year. I

12:55

consider him a point guard. He's

12:58

got to have pieces around it, but he's a very good

13:00

point He's a Jason Kidd type

13:02

of player, but he's not a He's not a Steph Curry.

13:04

You know, he's not a shooter. You know, he's not going to score

13:07

on his own. But he

13:09

got weapons all over the place. And when they

13:11

didn't have Trent Williams and they didn't have Deebo

13:13

Samuel during their three game losing

13:15

streaky, they only scored seventeen points

13:17

in those three games.

13:19

So you know they're they're talented.

13:22

But here's what separates them.

13:24

I watched them against Philadelphia, and I

13:26

don't know if they they play like

13:28

that almost all the time, but

13:30

that was personal to them. They

13:32

kicked their butts, I mean

13:35

kicked it everywhere.

13:37

And when I mean kick it, I mean they're wide

13:39

receivers. Kicked the wide receivers

13:42

butts. Why physically got

13:44

in their.

13:44

Face, knocked them on the ground, stayed

13:47

on them.

13:48

They were relentless. You watched their

13:50

their their linebackers. Man,

13:53

I tell you what, if I was a Seahawks, I

13:55

would put that film on. I'd say, boys, this

13:58

is how we have to play. They're not

14:00

more skilled than we are, but they don't.

14:03

They never quit. They are sidelined

14:05

to the sideline. There's never any You don't

14:07

see one player job, not one. And

14:09

I don't know if that's coaching. I don't know if that's them

14:11

the DNA of the type of player that they draft.

14:14

But when there's a play away, that

14:17

whole team is sprinting. So you don't

14:19

see a lot of miss tackles because if

14:21

you miss one, the other guy's right there.

14:23

I mean, you don't see the miss tackles. Man,

14:26

They're relentless. The way they break on the football.

14:30

McCaffrey, you think of McCaffrey. You would

14:32

think of him as a finesse player. You're

14:34

not finess, no, man, he's physical.

14:37

He will run over you now, and he's got that

14:39

kind of you look at him and you go, oh,

14:41

it's not that fast. No, it's that fast. He

14:44

runs away from fast guys. So they

14:46

got it all.

14:47

And Purdy is great feet

14:49

in the pocket.

14:50

He really knows where to go

14:52

with the football quickly and probably

14:54

the best thing he does.

14:56

To me, it's not his accuracy, it's certainly not

14:58

his arm strength.

15:00

It's the ability to let the plays extend

15:03

and then check it down. And he checks

15:06

it down when you get deep and lets

15:08

his players get out in space and do

15:10

their thing. It's the most impressive

15:13

team I've seen in years, the way

15:15

they're playing. They fight for

15:18

every inch. You know how you hear the

15:20

old cliche you got to fight for every

15:22

yard. Not them, They fight

15:24

for every inch. It does

15:27

not match.

15:27

You're out in the open field. If it's third and if

15:29

it's first and ten, they

15:32

want it to be second nine, not second and

15:34

seven.

15:35

And I'll tell you what, man, if you don't

15:37

match that intensity and that physicalness,

15:40

I think we match up skill wise.

15:42

I really do.

15:42

I mean, in fact, you watch the second half of the game

15:44

we played against four and as we played well.

15:47

I mean, we have players, but

15:50

I it's

15:52

impressive. It's the most impressive thing

15:55

I've seen in a long time.

15:57

Yeah, they had a good game against

15:59

the phillip f Eagles. They were eight for eleven

16:01

on third downs, one for one on

16:04

fourth downs. Add four hundred and fifty six

16:06

total yards to the field of for Eagles three hundred

16:08

and thirty three.

16:10

Here's the stat that sticks out to me. Discipline team.

16:12

Five penalties, forty seven yards, getting

16:15

to the red zone, taking advantage of every opportunity,

16:18

four trips, four touchdowns.

16:20

Those are the things that good teams do.

16:21

And also when I break down the film of the forty nine ers,

16:23

they do a great job of manipulating

16:26

the edge of the defense. That's why

16:28

you see all those motions and orbits and

16:30

all that. What they're gonna do is that last

16:32

man on the line of scrimmage, whether he has his hand

16:34

in the dirt or he is standing up, if

16:36

you motion this way, you're gonna shift your

16:39

shades.

16:39

Boom.

16:40

They shift the shade and then find a way to bring

16:42

a guy back. And now they pin the corner, do a

16:44

great job of getting on the edges. That's where

16:46

they want to hit you in the run game. Now, in the past game,

16:48

You've been saying this for years now. I've been working with you for about

16:50

seven years now, right, and You've always

16:53

mentioned no matter who the quarterback is, it could

16:55

be uh, Jimmy Garoppolo, it could be Trey

16:57

Lanz, it could be Brock Party.

17:00

They want to hit the middle of the field. Everybody knows

17:02

that they're going there.

17:02

But they do such a good job of expanding the defense

17:04

east or west in opening up those holes.

17:07

So again, when we talk

17:09

about how to defeat the forty nine ers, I

17:11

think there's always a common theme when it comes to you

17:13

and I and the rest of the crew when we break things down. Stop

17:16

them from hitting the middle of the field. But it

17:18

seems like teams aren't able to do that.

17:19

No, it's hard because they they look.

17:23

Last week, brock Purdy had two passes

17:26

to drawing

17:29

a plank on his name, Oh Deebo Samuel.

17:32

Two plays he threw to him. It was for forty

17:34

eight and forty six yards, so ninety

17:37

four yards the ball traveled

17:39

combined four yards and nobody

17:43

blocked for Deebo Samon. He broke two

17:45

tackles on his first one and he

17:47

just outran everybody on the second. So he's a really

17:50

special player. McCaffrey has the same

17:52

thing. I think what makes San

17:54

Francisco better now is perty's

17:56

not afraid to throw outside the numbers and

17:59

he knows where it is. Whereas the old

18:01

guys they didn't want through outside the numbers, they

18:04

didn't recognize it quick enough.

18:06

He does now.

18:06

He has some flaws and you've got

18:09

to get around him, but he's really good with

18:11

his feet in the pocket. Also, here's

18:13

some crazy stats though, I mean I think,

18:16

well, they throw their average in two hundred

18:18

and fifty one yards two hundred

18:21

and fifty five yards a game passing, we're averaging

18:23

two hundred and thirty one. Gino's

18:25

throwing it one hundred times more than he has, you

18:27

know, if they're not throwing it that much. And so

18:30

when you were talking about all those crazy emotions

18:32

and what they do, and they run powers and they

18:35

run traps and they run ice,

18:37

I mean, they run everything. It

18:40

reminds me you're gonna hate this, but

18:42

it reminds me of Bellevue and the wing tea and

18:44

the reason why we used to run the wing t is they

18:47

go.

18:47

They may be able to stop it for a quarter.

18:49

But nobody has it, particularly in high school,

18:51

that kind of focus to be on

18:54

their key every single

18:56

snap, every snap, because if you don't on

18:58

one of them, the plays gone. And

19:00

I watched Philadelphia last week for

19:03

a quarter and a half they shut out San

19:05

Francisco. Matter of fact, their first two drives

19:07

were three and out. The

19:10

next two and a half quarters they

19:12

scored forty some points and put

19:15

up four hundred and fifty yards on them. So

19:18

that's what I mean is you got to want to be in

19:20

it physically, and not just physically. You

19:22

got to be focused on your

19:24

key every single play. And I'll

19:26

give you an example for San Francisco.

19:30

I watched Fred Warner. It was an

19:32

extra point and Fred was in

19:34

his stance and he was off the ball. He

19:36

was the guy that you know, they usually pull guys

19:38

out in case there's a fake on a

19:41

field goal or a pat right, and

19:43

so he was in his stance

19:46

as a linebacker, and all of a sudden, the balls

19:48

kicked.

19:48

And he immediately turned and he stared

19:51

at his key.

19:51

He didn't even look at the ball after it was kicked.

19:54

It was I mean that kind

19:57

of detail, attention to detail.

19:59

He focused every play And I tell

20:01

you, man, that's to me is what separates San Francisco

20:04

from every team in the league right now.

20:06

Another thing that does is that at every position

20:09

they have guys who gets yards

20:12

after the catch and yards after contact.

20:14

You talk about getting to the football and rallying,

20:17

you have to do that this week. So eleven

20:20

hats to the football. That's that's simple football,

20:22

right, rally to the ball. That's

20:24

what they gotta do. All right, A come

20:27

join us here at Hawks Live at Bellevy Square Center Court, where

20:29

we have a chance to win gift cars

20:32

from the Dining District at the Bellevue Collection.

20:34

Tonight they are giving away

20:36

gift cars to Patty Coins, Irish Pubs

20:38

and Jackel Neessa. All right, when

20:40

we come back, we're gonna hear from one of the tackles

20:43

man, second year man, Charles Cross, that is

20:45

next right here on Hawks Live.

20:49

Hawks Live presented by

20:51

the Dining District of the Bellevue Collection

20:54

at Bellevue Square Center Court, live

20:56

on air on Seattle Sports.

21:00

Going back to Hawk Slide presented by the Dyning

21:02

justic after Belview collection every

21:04

Thursday right here on see I was four seventy ten.

21:06

We're a Bellvy score Center courting. Now we are joined

21:09

by starting Tackle Charles Cross.

21:11

Charles, how you doing a little good?

21:15

We are good man, thanks for joining us on

21:17

a Thursday.

21:19

Question. Are you a Fortnite guy? Man? Because

21:21

that that old mad drop a couple of weeks ago.

21:24

My son was all on it. Uh you

21:26

a gamer? You a Fortnite guy? What do you do in your spare

21:28

time?

21:29

I do?

21:29

I do play Fortnite occasionally. I

21:32

actually played it like the first time, like last

21:34

week.

21:36

Do you like the new the changes? My

21:38

son was complaining to me about changes

21:40

of the game, and that is nod in my head, like I know

21:42

what he's talking about. Charles, I don't know what he's talking about.

21:45

Oh well, this is from the last time

21:47

I played. It's been a while, but it's

21:49

a it's a cool settle.

21:52

I don't even get the Fortnite thing, but I don't

21:54

know what it is. I'm so out of school.

21:56

I mean, look, I was in that Tendo guy right doing

21:59

nor super super Mario things

22:01

along the way. Hey, real real quick man, tell

22:03

us how your season's going for I mean, last

22:05

year you played every game. He had a couple

22:08

in or an injury this year and missed a few. But you

22:10

know, just tell me how you feel the season's going, how your

22:12

body's reacting.

22:14

Oh well, as far as the season going, you know, you

22:17

know, just taking me one week at a time, you know, just trying

22:19

to improve week by week, working

22:21

on little things, you know, just

22:23

trying to improve on the run

22:25

game past game. We're just trying

22:28

to through wherever I can to, you know, help the team.

22:31

Man.

22:31

You guys have had a lot of bodies.

22:33

Man, I want to say nine to ten different starting lineups

22:36

tied for the first I believe when

22:38

it comes to lineups in the NFL

22:40

when it comes to the offensive line. But now you've got a Lucas

22:43

back. Man, what is it like having a guy? You guys

22:45

held it down last year? I believe it was the first time since

22:47

the seventies that two rookie

22:49

tackles started the whole season.

22:51

Man, what's it like having a Lucas back?

22:54

I mean, it's always good. It's always good. It

22:56

was great with a K but you know, he

22:59

just brings the h Another

23:01

admission to our game. Man. It's

23:04

uh, he's just such a great

23:06

player. It's just great. Heaven, he'll bat

23:09

you know, you're a little better force of comfort.

23:12

Yeah, definitely. It was nice to see him

23:14

in there. I mean him and Bradford on

23:16

that side that they're mallers.

23:17

Man.

23:18

They they they can move, move a pile,

23:20

and uh, it was it was good to see him

23:22

get back there.

23:23

Hey, we we knew this gauntlet coming in.

23:26

You know, you had the forty nine ers, you had the Cowboys,

23:28

you got the forty nine ers, you got Philadelphia.

23:31

But Charles Man, you you've had

23:34

to face the gauntlet now. I mean you have had

23:36

Nick Bosa, You've had Miles Garrett,

23:39

You've had Micah Parsons, You've got Nick Bosa

23:41

again. Man, just talk

23:43

about that, I mean yeah, I mean mentally,

23:46

is that tough for you? You know, to go

23:49

week after week about truly the best

23:52

in the business.

23:54

Oh, for me, it was it was uh oh

23:57

it was fun. It was like competist,

24:00

compete, So for me, I feel

24:02

like it was it was. It was great. It was great

24:05

we to compete, go out there and play against hold the bitch

24:07

guys. Oh so I feel

24:09

I feel good about it. I feel great about it.

24:12

You know, I'm excited about the competition that's

24:14

coming up. Uh.

24:16

You guys are six and six right now, still in

24:18

the playoff hunt. Obviously would

24:20

love to get a win this weekend.

24:23

What's the mentality of the offensive

24:25

line?

24:25

Man?

24:25

Because you know a lot of the love goes to the outside,

24:28

right, but we all know it starts and ends with

24:30

you guys. Man, what do you think about the challenge this week?

24:32

And and how how are you guys.

24:34

Feeling about pushing this team forward during

24:36

this playoff run?

24:38

Oh, we feel good. We feel good about it. You

24:40

know, just trying to take where we get a time, you know, plays

24:43

to get it as a group, be on the same page. So

24:46

that's how we look a at it.

24:49

Watching San Francisco on film,

24:52

I mean they're talented, there's no question. I mean,

24:54

their fronts good. We know that their linebackers

24:57

are really good. But

25:01

there's something about them that

25:04

it's just the way they get after

25:06

the football. Are they on film?

25:09

Do they appear to be the most physical

25:11

team you guys play for

25:13

this year?

25:15

I fast a lot of good

25:19

defensive this year. You know they're they're going over

25:21

them. Oh no, we just gotta we gotta

25:23

go in and we gotta do our job and compete

25:25

at a high level.

25:27

What's you know, as

25:30

analysts and fans, we look

25:32

at the game from the outside end, and

25:35

we saw some of the calls these referees man

25:37

put in you all last week, and we're.

25:38

Bad for you guys.

25:39

You guys got to be in the moment right in and and

25:41

still execute and get on to the next play.

25:44

We're allowed to gripe about

25:46

some of the calls of referees I put

25:48

on you guys as a team, How do you guys handle

25:51

that? Do you even acknowledge it or do you just kind of say

25:53

it is what it is. Let's move on and uh

25:55

and get ready for the next play in the next game.

25:57

Oh, you know, we on the control and we take control.

26:00

So you know, we just gotta see the

26:02

what is you know? Make

26:04

you just get better for me?

26:08

Hey, Charles, so man, you're you're up

26:10

here in the Northwest, the second year

26:12

that you've been out here. You're entering

26:15

your second winter. You know, you got Christmas

26:17

coming up? You got any plans with the

26:19

family they coming up? Or are they kind of just let

26:22

you focus and do your thing during

26:24

the season.

26:26

Oh thank you. They get a chance to come up

26:28

a good amount on the majority

26:31

of the time, they just let me focus on You

26:34

know, I talked to a

26:36

lot throughout the week, so we're

26:38

still We're still having

26:41

a great relationship.

26:43

All right, Charles Man, We appreciate your

26:45

time. Enjoy I guess

26:47

the new maps on Fortnite, the new skins. I'm

26:49

just gonna throw terms out there. My son say to me all

26:51

the time in these v bucks or all that, so I don't know what

26:54

I'm talking about.

26:54

Charles Man. Hey, we appreciate

26:57

your time and good luck this weekend.

26:59

Thank you.

27:00

That was good, Charles

27:02

Cross starred and tackled. This is gonna

27:04

be big for these guys. This is gonna be big. I

27:07

mean, like you mentioned,

27:09

you got Michael Parsons coming up, you

27:11

play Michael Parsons's got Nick Bosa. We

27:14

all know what the defensive line looks like for

27:16

the Philadelphia Eagles. They've been good over the past

27:18

few years. I mean, what do you what are

27:20

you expecting out of these guys?

27:22

Well, I think, first

27:24

of all, I thought we protected pretty well last week,

27:26

and I thought we did a good job on Parsons.

27:28

Who is man you can have a great

27:30

game. He gonna get free, you know at times.

27:33

Uh you know, and you know, the one play

27:35

where we didn't block him, you know, was scrutinized

27:37

a little bit, even though on on the

27:40

board it looked like a good play.

27:42

I thought he protected well.

27:44

San Francisco they said they sack us six

27:46

times two weeks ago. I want to say

27:48

it was six six, six times, and you

27:50

know it wasn't all on the offensive line. And you know, you

27:52

get behind. Now we're throwing a ton, and you

27:55

know the game can change.

27:56

At that point.

27:57

We were trying to get some long routes without we could

27:59

take some deep on them, and with that

28:01

you got to protect long enough. And they were in

28:03

their sprinter stands like they always the forty

28:06

nine ers. But look, I mean, Charles,

28:08

you watch him, man, he's

28:11

an athletic guy, you know, for a three

28:13

hundred pounder. I mean, he looks like almost

28:16

a basketball player the way he moves.

28:18

He's going to continue to get stronger, which he's gonna

28:21

need to do.

28:21

I mean.

28:21

The one thing about the West, the

28:24

defensive lines where you got to go up against are

28:27

incredible. So I was trying

28:29

to get to say Hey, he's the most physical team

28:31

you've seen, and he's like, eh, you

28:34

know, just just one of many. So maybe

28:36

I'm not seeing everything I saw on

28:39

film after all.

28:40

And that's a good point you make about the NFC

28:42

West.

28:43

I mean, you got Aaron Donald, you got Nick Bosa,

28:45

you got Armstead, you got Chase Young. Arizona,

28:49

despite their record, has been playing some decent

28:51

football as well.

28:52

And remember Paul Moyer. We

28:55

laughed at JB.

28:56

Long a couple of weeks ago, a few weeks ago

28:58

when he said, look, these

29:00

Rams are gonna make a push to the playoffs. We

29:03

did not believe them. And Al Saul knotted up at

29:05

six and six. Obviously the Rams have the tie breaker.

29:07

It's gonna get interesting here as of late. That's why

29:09

I'm looking for that Rams Ravens game. I want

29:11

to see how the Rams handle the Ravens.

29:13

We know what they did to the Hawks over

29:16

there in Baltimore, So I'm excited.

29:18

Man.

29:18

I know that it's it's a tough place for the

29:20

fans to be at six and six with high expectations,

29:22

but they are still in the mix and there's a lot of

29:25

football left to be played. But

29:27

when we come back We're gonna go around the NFL and talk

29:29

more football.

29:30

That's next right here on Hawks Live.

29:34

Hawkss Live, presented by

29:36

the Dining District of the Bellevue Collection

29:38

at Bellevue Square Center Court, live

29:40

on air on Seattle Sports.

29:46

Welcome back to Hawks Live.

29:49

We are live here at the Dining It well, it was presented by

29:51

the Dining dis you got the Bilby Collection. Every

29:54

Thursday right here at seven o'clock on Seattle Sports

29:56

seven to ten, myself, Michael Bumpas, and my god,

29:58

Paul Moyer ak A Moyer will

30:01

break down what you need to know

30:03

about this game and other games. So

30:05

let's go around the NFL. Just an update of what's

30:08

going on on Thursday night football. The New

30:10

England pages are of twenty one to eighteen,

30:13

with about eleven minutes left in the fourth quarter of the

30:15

Pittsburgh Steelers have the

30:17

football.

30:17

This is a game of the backups. You

30:20

got Zappi for New England.

30:22

Got Mitch Trubisky for the Pittsburgh

30:24

Steelers. I don't care who's playing,

30:26

where they're playing. If it's football, I'm

30:29

always interested.

30:30

Boye.

30:31

Well, I'm interested because we got to play Pittsburgh later

30:33

in this year. And their offense has been

30:35

pretty anemic. I was telling you

30:37

earlier. It's really interesting because you

30:40

know, Tomlin, their head coach, you

30:42

know, nationally, you know,

30:44

I think we all respect him.

30:46

I mean what he's done.

30:46

All they do is win, right, and a

30:49

great, great program. And I was

30:51

listening to a show today and how

30:54

their local media just

30:56

trashes them.

30:57

You know, haven't won a playoff games, which blows my

30:59

mind. We want to playoff games since twenty

31:01

sixteen.

31:02

That doesn't feel right.

31:02

That's seven years, man, I mean there's

31:05

something to that, right. How

31:08

he doesn't manage quarterbacks probably so

31:11

stuff.

31:11

We're not in the weeds on that.

31:14

We're up here and people want to fire Pete Carroll

31:16

right fourteen year all we all we do is win.

31:18

We've never had to really rebuild.

31:20

We retooled a little bit and went to the playoffs

31:23

when everybody thought we were gonna completely

31:25

rebuild. So you know, it's just

31:28

perception, isn't isn't always reality.

31:30

So I'm interested in Pittsburgh because you

31:34

know, to get to the playoff. I mean, we're not gonna

31:37

get the tiebreaker on the Rams now they're tied with us.

31:39

A matter of fact, I think we'd lose most tie breakers, so we're

31:41

gonna have to actually have a better

31:43

record than everybody else. We

31:45

need the Rams to lose to Baltimore

31:48

this weekend. We need to steal one

31:50

this week or the week after. We're gonna

31:52

have to win ten games.

31:53

I don't think.

31:55

I don't think nine to seven is gonna get us in. But yeah,

31:58

so Pittsburgh, excuse me, or nine and

32:00

eight's gonna get us in. I think we're gonna have to win ten. And

32:03

that's why Pittsburgh is interesting to me.

32:05

According to the stats, nine and eight gives

32:07

you a sixty three percent chance to

32:09

get in. But you're looking at what's in front of you. I think that's

32:11

why you're saying that might not be enough.

32:13

You got the Rams at six and six, the Vikings at

32:15

six and six, and the Packers at six and

32:17

six, so you're gonna need some help either way.

32:20

You put it all right.

32:21

So when I say these words,

32:23

tell me what organization you're thinking about. One of

32:25

the worst, the most poorly ran

32:27

organizations in the last couple of decades.

32:30

The Jets.

32:31

The Jets. We're going right to New York now.

32:33

Aaron Rodgers responded

32:36

to some leaks

32:38

out there that Zach Wilson was

32:40

reluctant to play for the

32:42

Jets because of

32:45

being injured. Now Aaron Rodgers come back, he

32:47

goes, that is chicken poop

32:50

and that has no room when

32:52

it comes to an organization trying

32:54

to change the culture and be a winning coacher.

32:57

Now I hear that, and I go, Zach Wilson,

32:59

you are paid to do what. You go out

33:01

there and do your job. If you're capable of being

33:03

the quarterback for the Jets and they ask you to bead,

33:06

you go out there and do that. Now, Zach

33:08

Wilson. Also, I understand where he's coming from

33:10

because he's probably looking at that offensive line and hey, man,

33:13

ain't nothing out there for me. But you're getting paid

33:15

millions upon millions of dollars. If

33:17

it's your time to go out there and be the quarterback,

33:19

you go out there and play some ball.

33:20

Well, Aaron actually was

33:23

upset with the organization for leaking

33:25

something and he said, there's been a lot of leaks,

33:27

and he said, that's where this organization

33:30

I used to to get their act together.

33:32

There's no place for that. And it's

33:34

hearsay, right, I mean, there's nobody

33:37

has come out and said it. As Zach Wilson's

33:40

denied it. I think he said, like, you

33:42

know, hey, you know, I'm not

33:44

gonna maybe be here next year.

33:46

You know, what do you think?

33:47

And who knows what was said there. I think

33:49

they've addressed that it's

33:52

a bad organization. I

33:55

just feel like they've lost this team, and losing

33:58

does that very quickly. And if you don't have a leader,

34:00

true leader at the quarterback position

34:02

to keep everybody in place, it

34:04

makes it even tougher.

34:06

And you know, Aaron likes Zach Wilson.

34:08

He said, look, he's a great kid.

34:09

You know, I'm pulling for him. You know, he probably

34:11

hasn't had the best he hasn't been dealt

34:14

the best hand.

34:14

Along the way.

34:16

But normally where rumors come out,

34:19

where there's smoke, there's fire. He

34:21

probably said something either in jest

34:24

or just you know, in a conversation.

34:27

Man, there's no play to me, there's no place in that.

34:29

Man.

34:29

You play, You're paid to play the

34:31

game. I hey, you know what, my my organization,

34:34

it's the end of the year. I'm not

34:36

going to come work the rest of the

34:39

year. You know, I'm paid to show

34:41

up every day And and do a job.

34:43

So, but that's just a bad or. Cleveland

34:46

was is obviously a horrible one also, I think Arizona.

34:49

But the Jets is probably the worst organization

34:52

for a long time.

34:53

Yeah, the Jets had a couple of years when

34:55

they were decent, made it to the AFC Championsship

34:57

game with Rex Ryn and Mark Sanchez at the quarter spot.

35:00

Let's stay with the quarterbacks and talk about

35:02

a local guy. How many Huskies do I have

35:05

right here? Husky fans? Husky fans?

35:07

Okay, you can raise your hand. All I want to

35:09

say to all of you are go kugs. But

35:11

I respect what the Huskies are doing. All right,

35:13

give me the booze.

35:14

I love it.

35:15

I love him, especially when I beat him three times.

35:17

I love it.

35:20

But that Jake Browning, Jake

35:23

Brownie had an opportunity to do his thing,

35:25

and I was happy to see that man. He was thirty

35:27

two or thirty seven for three fifty four in

35:30

one touchdown, and he looked so calm

35:32

doing it.

35:33

There was no panic.

35:34

Man.

35:35

We've seen a lot of backup quarterbacks get opportunities

35:37

this year. Guys been hurt and Rogers started

35:40

this whole thing the very first week, the very first play

35:43

that he had for the Jets.

35:45

Man, what did you make of Jake Browning's performance?

35:47

Well, for I couldn't believe the stats. You

35:49

know, I knew he was playing. I was kind

35:51

of watching it, But now, sad I was looking, I

35:53

go, is he like he

35:55

was like twenty eight for thirty two or something like

35:58

That's that's almost unheard of, and

36:00

that's almost an NFL record type of percentage

36:03

for that many throws. Yeah, it just goes

36:05

to show you. I mean, brock Purty is a good example.

36:07

Brown is a good example. You got good pieces

36:10

around you, and you you know

36:12

when to get rid of the football, you know where to throw at.

36:14

Browning was always that guy. He just didn't have a real strong

36:17

arm. Right, You can be

36:19

successful, man. You don't have to throw a bullet

36:21

one hundred miles an hour. You

36:23

know, you don't have to be the fastest guy.

36:25

You can. You can compete in this league. And so

36:27

I thought it was great.

36:28

Man.

36:28

I was really excited for him, and I was just all that,

36:30

what's going on with the Huskies. Let me see,

36:32

let me tell you Daniels from LSU. I'm

36:34

gonna do a little heisman on this right now. He

36:37

was an Arizona State quarterback. He transferred

36:39

to LSU. I promise

36:42

you, if he was at Arizona State with those

36:44

stats, he wouldn't even be in New York.

36:47

But he transferred to LSU, and

36:49

he's gonna now win.

36:50

Hold you saying with forty

36:53

touchdowns yes, and ten rushing

36:55

testdowns over one thousand yards, ye.

36:57

Think he'd be in New York from Arizona

36:59

State. I don't think no chance.

37:01

They lost forty two to ten to

37:04

Florida Stair, forty two to twenty

37:06

five to Florida State.

37:07

They lost three games this year. You got

37:10

it. Pennix, who's undefeated.

37:13

He's beat bow Knicks twice.

37:15

Bow Knicks gets Pack twelve player, a

37:18

first team Pack twelve quarterback.

37:21

It's a popularity contest, man, it's

37:23

media. There's more media back East. Down

37:25

South Daniels are gonna win it.

37:28

If Penix was down South, if this was

37:30

if they were in a Big ten next year, he

37:32

gets to sing, hands down.

37:34

It's popularity contest. Penix

37:36

deserves it. Freaks me out because they

37:38

look, if you're behind enough, you

37:40

know you can throw.

37:41

And by the way they played crap

37:44

this year they played I mean they played some

37:46

bad teams sec whether

37:48

they top heavy their bottom part, are

37:51

not good football teams. So that's

37:53

how I feel about I saw him that when he

37:55

was at Arizona State. We're like, not,

37:58

he's just not a gamer man.

37:59

He's it's just not that guy who's gonna win the big

38:02

game for you. And I still believe that. But I'll

38:04

tell you what. I may take him though in the.

38:06

NFL because he is athletic, he's

38:08

got a pretty strong arm, he's you

38:10

know, obviously the statistics are there, but

38:12

three go look at this the scale

38:15

of when all of a sudden he became the

38:18

guy. He wasn't even he was an afterthought,

38:20

and all of a sudden somebody said, oh, he's got forty touchdowns.

38:23

What's he should be now? The number one

38:26

favorite guy for the Heisman? I don't get it.

38:28

Man, to me, wins matter a Heisman trophy

38:31

on top of that, and I know we're spos talk about the NFL.

38:33

It's a joke anyway. It's not the best player,

38:36

it's the best quarterback. So why don't

38:38

we just separate it. Let's get rid of the Heisman.

38:40

When's the last time a defensive guy won the Heisman

38:42

Trophy.

38:43

I couldn't tell you.

38:44

Yeah, thank you. It's happened

38:46

twice, I think in history. That's all I gotta

38:48

say.

38:48

So, I agree with everything you just said.

38:51

Should we save it for your show?

38:52

I'm your guy, So I'm just

38:54

gonna go against you, okay, all right, and

38:56

I'm going.

38:57

To say that you are just

39:00

better that he left Arizona State.

39:02

And it was Charles Woodson in ninety seven,

39:04

but you're just mad that he left Arizona State.

39:06

He's going down to the Bayou and he's bawling right

39:08

now.

39:08

Man.

39:09

I'm happy for him, Man, I don't.

39:11

I'm with you one hundred percent, though. I think Michael Pennick should

39:13

win the Heighesman.

39:14

I think that.

39:17

Pannicks was at Alabama and

39:19

they're twelve and zero, same statistics.

39:22

Who's winning the Heisman Trophy?

39:23

Jayde Daniels, I'm dispensed

39:25

with you, man, it's Pennix. I think Pennix

39:28

is the more NFL ready

39:30

quarterback as well. I

39:32

think that it's difficult

39:34

to win all of your games no matter what league

39:36

you're playing in.

39:37

You could be in three A football in the state of Washington

39:39

to.

39:40

Pack twelve football it's hard to

39:42

do because you gotta stay healthy, you gotta

39:44

get lucky, you gotta win some tight ones. And they've

39:46

done exactly that. And they beat

39:49

the Oregon Ducks two

39:51

times, and it's hard to be the team of that caliber

39:53

two times. So much talent over there.

39:55

So I am a koog okay go

39:57

kug's but I respect Michael Penn

40:00

and the Huskies and what they've done this year. It's

40:02

been fun to watch.

40:04

40:53

Michael Bumpus with my man Paul

40:55

moy gave it's time to do what

40:58

we love to do, man, break down

41:00

film and makes sense of some of the

41:02

biggest plays that we saw this past

41:05

weekend.

41:06

Now, this first play, I mean we were

41:08

waiting for this one, Moyer. We were waiting for.

41:10

Mister dk Metcalf number fourteen

41:13

to put a game together,

41:16

let alone one of the biggest plays of his

41:18

career.

41:18

Man, So let's get into it made.

41:19

Gino Smith finds miss a DK Metcalf

41:22

for a seventy three yard touchdown.

41:24

Dallas in the backfield.

41:25

Gino from the shotgun with three receivers to

41:27

his right JSM one

41:29

of those guys four man rush.

41:31

Gino steps up, throws us like what a catch

41:33

there?

41:33

He goes DK forty thirty

41:36

twenty ten to five touchdown

41:40

Shayhawks seventy

41:44

three yards DK Metcalf

41:47

on a perfect slant route thrown.

41:49

By Geno Smith.

41:51

Holy Catfish won away to start

41:53

this one for the Seahawks. You getta

41:55

stop on, d you go right

41:58

for the juggular and those Seahawks

42:00

go on top sixty three

42:04

and.

42:04

They picked up the third down.

42:07

I gotta throw that in there, Dave.

42:09

That's the fastest forty

42:12

thirty twenty ten. You

42:14

know again, it's the fastest.

42:16

Twenty two miles per hour.

42:17

I believe twenty two point like seven. It's the

42:19

fastest of the year from fastest

42:23

since twenty twenty. I mean, look, we know DK is

42:25

fast, and DK knew he was gonna get

42:27

a touchdown, but I think he wanted to prove a point too as

42:30

well. I wouldn't call that a slant.

42:32

I would call that more of a skinny post because.

42:34

Called a bang bang. Yeah, that's

42:36

why I call it. Five step is a bang. We'll call it seven

42:39

a post, and a three is slant, at least in my

42:41

offense.

42:41

Yeah, I mean, you know, he completes

42:43

it at fifteen yards and it's just inside

42:46

the numbers. We used to call it a skinny

42:48

post. They didn't get all the way into the post. Not an

42:50

ind route, it's not a slant. Two

42:52

things on this h Dallas

42:55

tried to disguise this,

42:57

so they pretended like they were gonna

42:59

double or over the top on

43:01

DK because DK was a single wide receiver

43:04

to the offenses left and we had three wide

43:06

receivers to our right.

43:08

And so Gino looked at the safety.

43:09

The safety pretended like he was going to go over the right,

43:12

over the top, but he came back down.

43:14

I don't really know what they were doing on their defense. I

43:16

don't know why they did it, and Gino

43:18

read it perfect. It's it's good protection.

43:20

We knew that the pocket was going

43:22

to get It's gonna be muddled

43:25

at times, and you're still gonna have to make those throws.

43:28

But the pocket's nice, you know, and he

43:30

when he has time and he can step into the throw.

43:33

You know, Geno's incredibly accurate. I think

43:35

they practiced this a ton because

43:38

what's what's the corner's name, I've already drawn

43:40

a blank on him. Yeah, think you He

43:42

liked to undercut a bunch and that's

43:44

how he gets his interceptions. So they

43:47

threw this saying Hi, I knew and he was going to undercut

43:49

it. It is a It's

43:51

probably one of the best throws I've seen Geno make,

43:53

and it's one of the best catches I've seen DK

43:56

This is not an easy catch and throw,

43:58

and you know the rest is his after that.

44:00

Yeah, this is when I knew he was healthy.

44:02

Man, I felt like the last few weeks who was

44:04

struggling a little bit. And what

44:06

I think is, I think that safety is looking

44:09

for the crosser by number three and number two receiver on

44:11

the backside, because you see

44:13

the back or flow to the flat with the

44:15

running back. So that makes me

44:17

think that, Okay, that corner probably has his deep

44:20

third or quarters in that safety is looking for the

44:22

cross road.

44:22

Either way you put it.

44:23

Gino takes him there with his eyes too, right, Okay,

44:26

you're looking for the crosser. If that's the case, I'm gonna

44:28

take you there with my eyes, snap back

44:30

to DK and then boom, put it on

44:33

a line in a hands catch

44:35

by DK.

44:36

Man.

44:37

The windows are small in the NFL.

44:39

You got to be able to replete this special that.

44:41

That window is about the size of my hand.

44:43

I mean it.

44:45

There just wasn't much room there. And you

44:47

know, and that's what Gino's capable.

44:49

We saw that last year and this was

44:51

a first game where I just I just

44:53

felt like, you know what I'm gonna throw what I

44:55

see, I'm not gonna wait for them to get

44:57

open because at the time

44:59

he's really not open.

45:01

No, but he put it in a perfect spot.

45:03

All right, let's get to this next play. Oh

45:05

my gosh, you know what the Seahawks did.

45:08

What do they do?

45:08

They had a big play on a screen.

45:12

Geno Smith finds Zach Charbona for

45:14

thirty nine yards on the screen.

45:16

Pass second and ten, empty backfield

45:18

for the Seahawks in Dallas territory.

45:20

Quick thrown near side to Charbonne.

45:21

Who's line up one, and he takes off inside

45:23

the thirty breaks of tackle twenty fifty

45:26

to ten down to the five yard line.

45:28

Go Zack Charbonay catches

45:30

a swing pass as he lines up

45:32

wide to the left side. Dorrence

45:35

Armstrong, the defensive lineman, then finally

45:38

chases him down.

45:40

Coach, you got are you wanting to go?

45:41

All right?

45:41

Let's get it all right? So this is what happens.

45:43

You got an empty backfield, You got

45:45

three receivers to the right of Genome. You

45:47

got Jake Bubble and Zach Charbonay

45:50

to the left. This is just a numbers game

45:52

right here, Moy. They know they're gonna run this screen. So

45:54

you got your left tackle on your left guard, who are

45:56

going to show passpro for a second, and they

45:59

released leave two guys free. Right

46:01

What the Senate does? He blocks down on that

46:04

one or three tech right there, and the five

46:06

tech is free.

46:07

You let him go.

46:08

He realizes, Look, if it's too good to be

46:10

true, it probably is. He tries to reverse back

46:12

a field and it is too late. What I love about

46:14

this is you put your best blocking receiver

46:17

on a corner and Jake.

46:17

Bobo Boom, you go and get him. Now you let

46:19

the big boys go free.

46:21

If you got two of those guys on a backer, one

46:23

lineman takes care of the backer, the other guy goes

46:26

to the safety, and the rest is just Zach Sharbonna

46:28

being elusive with the ball in his hands.

46:31

I saw this play and these are one

46:33

of the moments when I thought to myself, Man,

46:35

I wish Moyer was here so I can see his reaction, because

46:38

Moyer would be going nuts if

46:40

he saw this go down. When you saw go down with

46:42

your in Dallas, with your family, man, a

46:44

big play man. We've been waiting on something like this to happen

46:46

in the screen game. It finally gets done.

46:49

Yeah.

46:49

I give credit to Shane Waldron

46:52

on this too, because the last thing I'm thinking, I've

46:54

got sharbon A and Bobo all the way

46:56

out to my left or defense is right.

46:58

They ain't throwing it to them because I've got JSN,

47:01

I've got Tyler Lockett, and I've got DK to

47:03

the right. They got four guys over

47:05

there. They're kind of confused too. They

47:08

get lined up a little late. I'll

47:10

just close it with this. What I really liked about

47:12

is you got Cross and you got Lewis out

47:15

quick and man, you want to

47:17

get big guys on little guys, and they

47:20

double team. Basically one of the safety

47:22

linebacker that they had in at the time. They

47:25

shove him all the way out and then Lewis

47:28

sees it's kind of like it's a double team if

47:30

he goes to my left and I'm

47:32

gonna keep going out for the safety comes to my

47:34

right, and then Cross would have gone to the safety. And

47:37

then Lewis sprints. Man, he's

47:39

run at least a five to two forty

47:42

here, but he knocks the safety on his butt

47:45

as well, and that wears guys in ethic. He

47:47

made him do a somersault. Just really

47:50

good.

47:50

I loved it.

47:50

But just the whole game plan was good. It was

47:53

just just when you thought they were going to do one thing,

47:55

we'd come back for a run. Then we run a quick screen.

47:57

We run a screen that we would never think we would run.

48:00

And we're gonna have to have a bunch of that this week.

48:03

All right, final play here? All

48:06

this one hurt Moyer. You got the game

48:08

on the line, You're driving down the

48:10

field. You get to fourth down, fourth

48:12

into with a minute and seven left on

48:14

the clock, and Gino Smith can't connect with DJ

48:17

Dallas.

48:18

Dallas shows blitz, they bring it, Gino

48:20

gets rid of it and he can't complete

48:23

it. Gino is hit in the backfield

48:25

again by Parsons, who has just

48:28

been a terror, and

48:30

that's going to do it as the

48:32

Seahawks just have no answer for number

48:35

eleven tonight, Michael Parsons. No

48:37

matter where he lined up, he seemed to be in the backfield

48:39

the whole time.

48:41

What'd you see?

48:42

Well, I

48:45

really would like to talk to the players on this one.

48:48

I think this is a design play. And

48:51

again this is one of those you get up on the board

48:54

and you draw it up and you go, this will work,

48:56

and so they blitz us. Man,

48:58

there's no question about the sending six guys

49:01

and we've got five lineman. Actually we

49:03

really have a tight end at Chips as well and

49:06

helps on us. But they decide they're going to

49:08

leave Parsons, who's to the offense

49:10

is right wide open.

49:12

I saw this.

49:12

It was a Notre Dame in game. I think it was a college game.

49:15

Somebody showed this where the back

49:17

came all the way to the other side.

49:19

Quick.

49:19

There's nobody covering DJ Dallas.

49:22

If this is to him, he's got to go now.

49:24

He cannot waste any time because we've got a guy free,

49:27

and more important, he's got to get also past

49:29

the guy that Abe Lucas is blocking, and

49:32

that's.

49:32

Where he runs into him.

49:35

I almost when I looked at it again

49:37

from the end zone, and I've looked at

49:39

this play a bunch, and I was one hundred percent sure

49:41

I knew this play.

49:43

I'm not sure that DJ

49:46

wift on Parson.

49:49

You think that he was going to pick him up.

49:50

I think he may have been picking him up because he throws

49:53

a look at me. If you look at the end zone

49:55

at the last second, he throws an elbow at him. I

49:58

would have liked to see him come underneath Abe

50:00

Lucas and just get out to the flat.

50:01

There's no one going to be there. It's going

50:03

to work. It will absolutely be a first down

50:06

if that's the design.

50:07

If he was supposed to go over there and actually

50:09

pick him and pick him up, which

50:12

I would have preferred, they didn't do that, but

50:14

that's fine. Sometimes you know, you're not

50:16

sure how we're going to slide and how they're they're lined up.

50:18

You can't always get that perfect. There's

50:20

going to be mismatches at times. But if

50:23

he picks them up, we've got

50:25

JSN.

50:26

Open on an in rout. It's

50:28

it's open.

50:29

So you know, at first I thought that was

50:31

the Notre Dame play right

50:33

that people saw, and I said, what I

50:36

get it. Notre Dame has

50:38

better players than that team.

50:40

So again fourth and two.

50:42

I didn't have a problem whether

50:44

I just it wasn't executed right.

50:46

Yeah, we heard Genal speak after the game.

50:48

He said that he was supposed to release. I think DJ

50:51

just hesitates and doesn't get there.

50:53

All right.

50:54

Hey, make sure you get onto the Bellevue Collection

50:56

dining just there's so many great restaurants to choose

50:58

from.

50:58

Today.

50:59

We had our pre meal from Patty

51:01

Coins. I had the chicken sandwich.

51:03

It was bomb.

51:04

It's privately owned, it's a family restaurant

51:06

and they're actually from Ireland to have a great

51:08

happy hour three to six pm and then they

51:10

turn up again from ten to one

51:13

am every single day.

51:14

All right, when we come back, it's time to talk that

51:17

talk.

51:18

Well, I got to give Patty

51:20

Coin some love here. First of all, get their

51:23

owners. Their local owners are the nicest people in

51:25

the world.

51:25

To go there. It's a really cool atmosphere.

51:28

I kid you not.

51:29

It's the best fish and chips I've ever had my

51:31

life. It's not even close. And

51:33

I've been fasting for seventy two hours,

51:36

so I've been waiting for that. So

51:38

I did have the fish and chips and a couple other things.

51:41

Didn't kill myself, but I totally

51:45

honest, best fish and chips ever

51:47

had my life.

51:48

Go to Patty Coin and get if you like fish.

51:50

And chips, and I kid you not, the chicken

51:52

sandwich was bomb.

51:53

Yeah, the listious food was really amazing.

51:55

All right, we'll we come back. It's time to talk

51:58

that talk. This when we pick on some some

52:00

topics. Man, the Seahawks, will they make

52:02

the playoffs. It's Brock Purty, the MVP

52:05

of this league. We'll let you know that's next. Right

52:07

here on Hawks Live.

52:14

It's time to talk that talk with Michael

52:16

Bumpus and Paul Moyer on Hawks Live.

52:21

Welcome back to Hawks Live, presented by the Dining

52:23

District after Bellvy Collection. The show is every

52:25

Thursday at seven o'clock right here on Seattle Sports

52:27

seven.

52:28

It is time to talk that talk. This is

52:30

when me and Moyer throw some topics out

52:33

there.

52:33

He lets me know that he thinks he's right, and I agree

52:36

with him sometimes and sometimes I don't agree. So let's

52:38

see how we feel this time around. Moyer,

52:41

first topic. That's my question to you.

52:44

Yay nay, let me know how you feel

52:46

the Seahawks will still make

52:49

the playoffs this season.

52:50

There's no question we're gonna agree on this one. Yes,

52:56

it's gonna be tough. We

52:59

really need to win this week and to make it

53:01

easier from a tiebreaker standpoint, because

53:04

if we lose this game, we're zero and four in our division,

53:06

or excuse me, we're one and four in our division.

53:09

That man, that's part of a tie

53:11

breaker.

53:11

It's another conference game, that's part of

53:13

a tiebreaker, So I'd really

53:16

like to win this when I I think it's gonna be tough.

53:19

I watching Philly on film. I think

53:21

we'll beat Philly when they when they come here. But

53:23

that would be four losses in a row, and that's

53:26

that's a streak you don't want.

53:28

We're good.

53:28

I think we got to get to ten wins. I

53:31

don't think nine and seven is gonna

53:33

nine and eight is gonna pull it off. I

53:36

know it's sixty three percent of the time. It

53:38

works every time, but I

53:40

don't think we're gonna I don't think nine

53:42

and eight is gonna get us into the playoffs.

53:44

We we gotta win one of these next two and in sweep

53:47

the final three.

53:48

Man, if we played in the NFC South, we'll be

53:50

right in the mix. Got the Atlanta Falconus

53:52

that six and six, they hold the fourth seed

53:54

right there, but but you're right behind them.

53:57

The Cowboys are nine and three to the fifth seed. You got

53:59

Minnesota sixty sixty seven seed, and then

54:01

you have the Green Bay Packers at sixty sixth with

54:03

the seventh and then you.

54:05

Have the Rams right in front of you. So no, I

54:07

think we are gonna agree on this one. Because

54:09

we keep hope a lot, and we know what's

54:12

gonna take this weekend.

54:13

It's gonna take a great effort. Can you

54:15

cause turnovers? Can you limit

54:18

yards after contact and yards after the

54:20

catch?

54:20

That is going to be key.

54:21

But if this offense could do anything close

54:23

to what they did last week against the Dallas

54:26

Cowboys, you would think they would have a chance.

54:28

But no, it's it's gonna be tight. And you put

54:30

yourself in this position. Let's see how resilient

54:33

this team can be.

54:34

Yeah, you can't give up fourth quarter leads.

54:36

They come back and bite you. And now we're in We're

54:39

in the position we are and I do believe Pete's

54:41

right. We'll say when

54:43

they make the playoffs, they will be battle tested.

54:45

They will be a tough out because

54:47

of the type of teams they've had to play and prepare

54:49

for. And so these are playoff

54:51

games and you know we got we gotta shine,

54:54

all right? Next one man, this guy

54:56

is having an unbelievable season. A lot of people think

54:58

he's a system quarterback, but here's

55:01

some stats on this guy. He's

55:03

seventh in the league in passing yards,

55:06

but he's thrown at seventy yards

55:09

seventy less times already than just Geno,

55:11

Right, I mean that's not compared to some of the other

55:13

guys. First in the NFL and completion

55:16

percentage seventy point two. He's

55:18

fourth in touchdowns with twenty three, which again

55:20

I think he's twenty eighth or twenty ninth

55:22

in pass attempts. That's a remarkable

55:24

stat. Number one in QBR seventy

55:27

five point six. That's a crazy number.

55:29

Number one QB rating one sixteen.

55:32

He's firsteen yards attempt, first

55:34

ten yards completion.

55:36

Rock perty Will he win the

55:39

MVP?

55:40

Now we know what type of award.

55:42

This is the last time a non quarterback

55:44

won the MVP was twenty twelve.

55:46

I believe it was Adrian Peterson and.

55:49

All he had to do was come back from an ACL and rush

55:51

for two thousand yards. Right, you look

55:53

at this award, it's become a quarterback award. But

55:55

look, Tyreek

55:57

Heels having a better season than he is. Hill

56:00

is on pace to receive over two

56:03

thousand yards. And

56:06

I think that other positions don't

56:08

get enough of love when it comes to the MVP.

56:11

But we all know what drives this league.

56:13

Who's the first guy you see on the commercials.

56:15

Who's the last guy you see leaving the field?

56:17

Who does everybody want to interview? It's

56:20

the quarterback. I don't think I think Rock

56:22

Purdy. I think every quarterback is a system quarterback.

56:24

You get in the right system, a system that fits you, you

56:27

are a system quarterback. Dak Prescott

56:29

system quarterback to a system quarterback.

56:31

Even Pat mahomes the system quarterback because Andy

56:34

Reid allows him to do all the things that he does. So

56:36

when people say system quarterback, I'm like, everybody's

56:39

a system quarterback.

56:40

You got to get into your system. But is he the

56:42

MVP of this league?

56:43

No?

56:43

I don't think so.

56:44

I'm gonna stick with my receiver

56:46

buddy and say Tyreek Hill

56:49

right now is and should be

56:51

the MVP of this league.

56:52

You know what's messed up?

56:53

What's that a couple of years

56:55

ago Cooper Cup won the Triple Crown

56:58

and wasn't even really in the race for MVP.

57:01

We know how this is going to go. A quarterback is probably

57:03

gonna get it. But I'm going against the grain. Tyreek

57:06

Hill Hall at your boy.

57:08

Yeah, he's got some serious consideration.

57:11

You know, I know

57:13

that Deebo Samuel won't,

57:17

but I could almost put him

57:19

up there when I watched him last week. Look,

57:21

he's got one hundred and sixty yards rushing. The

57:24

man is he's at nine hundred

57:26

and twenty seven yards. I'm sorry, are

57:28

you? Are you right now?

57:30

He's got nine hundred and twenty seven yards

57:32

receiving.

57:32

He's averaged eighteen point five

57:35

yards per catch, eighteen

57:37

five.

57:37

Matter of fact, their whole offense they got.

57:39

Hurb ain't even the best on his team.

57:40

George Kittle's averaging fourteen to seven,

57:43

Deebo Sam's averaging fifteen to five,

57:45

Jennings fourteen one. I think we have one

57:47

guy above those numbers. I

57:51

think he's under serious consideration. I think

57:53

if he gets the number one seed in

57:57

the NFC, I think he's

57:59

gonna win it.

57:59

Now, here's the good news for that. The

58:02

last the last guy

58:05

to win the MVP and win a Super

58:07

Bowl.

58:07

It's like twenty years ago, you

58:10

know, and I want to almost say it could

58:12

have been Tom Brady.

58:14

I don't remember it, or Elway. I feel

58:16

like it might have been Way.

58:17

I'm telling you, it's been a long time, and you know what,

58:20

our producers probably gonna find it and say that was two

58:22

years ago. But it was a

58:24

long time ago because it was one of those weird

58:27

stats that you didn't really want to win the MVP because

58:29

no one ever won the Super Bowl. Right, but he is

58:31

certainly deserving of it when you have those kind

58:33

of numbers, and those are they're

58:35

beyond great numbers. If

58:38

he threw the ball one hundred

58:40

times more, it's

58:42

not even close.

58:43

He ain't the best on his team.

58:45

But here, okay, how about this. He's

58:47

fourth in touchdowns. He

58:50

I think behind Mahomes. I bet Mahomes

58:52

throwing it two hundred times more than him.

58:55

It's see Mahomes three hundred

58:57

and one time.

58:59

And it was it Mom's war too, Okay,

59:03

Kurt Warner ninety nine before that. So I was right,

59:05

other than the great Patrick.

59:07

I was right, other than gonna bring

59:09

my wife into the situation. Huh Well, there was all

59:12

this stuff first.

59:13

Twenty years ago or twenty twenty two.

59:15

All right, you say yes, I say no.

59:17

I say yea.

59:18

All right, we got more to do.

59:20

We'll be joined by Kenny McIntosh

59:22

right here in person.

59:23

That is next on.

59:24

Hawk's Live, Hawkss

59:32

Live, presented by the Dining District

59:35

of a Bellevue Collection at Bellevue Squares

59:37

Center Court live on air on Seattle

59:39

Sports.

59:41

Welcome back to Hawks Live on Michael

59:44

Bamas with Paul Moyer. We are joined

59:46

now by Seahawks running back Kenny

59:48

back Intosh.

59:48

Give it up one more time.

59:50

Oh my god, you

59:53

gotta say, man, we we we

59:55

pretty much related, man, because your brother went a while

59:57

doing I'm a cool so that makes us fan.

1:00:00

I just figured out that information when I walked

1:00:02

up here.

1:00:03

That happen.

1:00:04

But that's crazy though. Yeah, man, but what

1:00:07

man believe two years ago they

1:00:10

went crazy.

1:00:11

He gave us a run game when we really needed it.

1:00:13

I definitely, definitely.

1:00:14

I remember one game that was thrown out there and my parents

1:00:16

told me they couldn't even see the field.

1:00:20

That's a and that's a long way from home,

1:00:22

man, that's not even Seattle.

1:00:23

Man.

1:00:23

That pullman, that's.

1:00:25

Fathering their father.

1:00:26

You know what I'm saying, I'm at the bottom of the mount

1:00:28

from South Florida, and what I'm saying, that's so yeah, that's

1:00:31

that's too far.

1:00:31

I don't know how he did it. I don't know how he dealt with it.

1:00:35

And sorry, I've taken you

1:00:37

on a different route.

1:00:38

Was gonna bring it there later. But you know, his brother

1:00:41

went to Notre Dame and then he transferred to Washington

1:00:43

State. Not a lot of people do that other than bump

1:00:45

Us who went there right out of high school.

1:00:47

But what what got him there? Uh,

1:00:50

to Washington State.

1:00:52

So he ended up going on Notre

1:00:54

Dame, like you mentioned, after going

1:00:56

to being there for like two or three years, I want

1:00:58

to say, he ended up leaving, went Juco

1:01:01

East Mississippi left, he went Crazy

1:01:03

East Mississippi, broke records there, and then ended

1:01:06

up at Washington. So you

1:01:08

know, he just had, you know, a trust little

1:01:10

journey that bed he made. You know, you

1:01:13

know, everybody goes through ups and downs and stuff like that.

1:01:15

So you know, and fortunately he

1:01:17

got this opportunity to go, you know, play in

1:01:20

the XFL. I want to say, I believe

1:01:22

in Houston. So he got his chances

1:01:24

and he studied working, he studied grounding for the opportunity

1:01:26

again. So they kind

1:01:28

of worked out.

1:01:29

Yeah, was on last chance.

1:01:31

You ah, man, they left

1:01:33

the year before he got there.

1:01:34

You know what I'm saying. He just left the went to I

1:01:36

think it was in Indy. He

1:01:39

just left.

1:01:40

But that's man, that's the school

1:01:42

that everybody watched on Netflix and everybody

1:01:44

seeing the man yelling in his screen, IM in the stands

1:01:46

and stuff.

1:01:46

He was there.

1:01:47

I went there actually to go see him there and witness it myself.

1:01:49

So it was a you know, a nice experience.

1:01:51

One man, you five

1:01:54

hundred yards receiving your last year

1:01:56

at Georgia.

1:01:57

Yeah, is that?

1:01:57

Uh?

1:01:58

Is that something that you kind of grew into or did

1:02:00

you receive the ball in high school as well?

1:02:02

I grew

1:02:04

up, you know, just wanting a ball in my hands,

1:02:07

man, And then I actually played different

1:02:09

positions. You know, I was an athlete. This as an

1:02:11

athlete, so but it was just something about that ball being

1:02:14

in my hands. So I fell in love

1:02:16

for playing running back. So it

1:02:19

wasn't even just running back. I play,

1:02:21

you know, most positions, like I mentioned, so quarterback. Just

1:02:23

having a ball in my hands.

1:02:24

Man.

1:02:26

But when you mentioned catching catching

1:02:28

the ball something my dad always did for me when I was

1:02:30

a little boy in the house, man just talking about me. So

1:02:32

you know, catching the ball was just you know, nothing,

1:02:35

nothing major to me, just so you know, the second second

1:02:37

nature, you know what I'm saying.

1:02:38

So it was just easy.

1:02:39

So running routes and stuff like that, and just being

1:02:41

an athletic person I was, and you know translated

1:02:44

easy. So after I figure out that was a special

1:02:46

team in my game on the football field, you

1:02:48

know, I just bought into it.

1:02:49

And you started stopped doing running backs drills. I'm

1:02:51

not gonna lie. I started doing running wide receiver drills.

1:02:54

I wanted to run routes and you know, be crispying

1:02:56

my routes and stuff like that, because I knew that was gonna be separation

1:02:59

from you know, me playing running back. And you know they

1:03:01

already divided running backs and my dad played running

1:03:03

back. So that's how I knew all these things when I was younger. So he

1:03:05

taught me all this always been in my ear and let me

1:03:08

know about that. So you know, I had to stand out and do something

1:03:10

different in my game, and you know, being

1:03:12

able to catch the ball with something that separated me from a lot

1:03:14

of guys.

1:03:15

Well, you mentioned you're you're an athletic guy.

1:03:17

I mean you come from an athletic family. You mentioned

1:03:19

your one brothers running back at Washington

1:03:21

State.

1:03:22

I think it's a dj J

1:03:24

R McIntosh at Washington State.

1:03:26

RJ mcantoish Miami.

1:03:28

He was Miami defensive end played in the NFL

1:03:30

for for a few years as well. What other

1:03:32

things you do in high school? From from an athlete

1:03:34

standpoint.

1:03:35

I played basketball, I

1:03:37

played I ran a LiOD track outside

1:03:39

of my high school, you know school, but I

1:03:42

did track on the side. But basketball was mainly

1:03:44

my main focus at the football.

1:03:46

Everybody thinks they can play basketball and have

1:03:50

you had to go and shoot and uh and I

1:03:53

did.

1:03:53

A few times. I did a few times. I can't tell you my record

1:03:55

right now because but

1:03:57

no, I did a few times though, I'm

1:04:01

you know.

1:04:01

I get out there.

1:04:05

Hey, so you know how this goes in high school?

1:04:07

Right, There's three states that think they

1:04:09

got the ballers. Cali, Texas,

1:04:11

Florida. Now I'm from Cali. We're from Cali. And

1:04:14

now I went trained in the NFL in

1:04:16

Florida, and uh, that was my real

1:04:19

when I go, Yeah, these Florida boards are something

1:04:21

different.

1:04:21

Man.

1:04:21

And one of my dudes told me he played

1:04:23

at Florida State. He went on to play in the NFL for a while.

1:04:26

I don't know if he was gassing me up or not, but

1:04:28

he was like, yeah, man, we going chase rabbits.

1:04:30

I go get out of here. You ain't chased. No, ding, that's

1:04:32

real.

1:04:33

No, that's that's real. That's real. Man. People go

1:04:35

out there and chase rabbits for real.

1:04:36

Dude.

1:04:36

Well, I can't speak for myself.

1:04:39

I'm from Sport Laddale, but

1:04:41

I don't seen and heard people from North Florida,

1:04:43

up north a little bit, you know, up there, that do that

1:04:45

and chase rabbits. I actually played against guys on the

1:04:47

teams and you could just see the separation of the

1:04:49

difference of it's cratle speed that it is up

1:04:52

there. Because I'm from South Florida and you know, playing

1:04:54

against people from Florida that's

1:04:56

you know, up north, and you know everybody

1:04:58

says South Florida got to speed. But going up north a little

1:05:00

bit, them boys the chase little rapids

1:05:03

man and man them boys. You can just see it on

1:05:05

the field, just see the separation. You

1:05:07

know, it calls on the game. So it's crazy. It

1:05:09

is different there. It's something about the water

1:05:11

though they say though it might be water down there,

1:05:14

the water might be different.

1:05:16

But now with that being said, you

1:05:18

know, Georgia thinks they got a bunch of athletes,

1:05:21

to which they do.

1:05:22

And you a Florida kid, your

1:05:25

your brother goes to Miami, how

1:05:27

do you end up going to Georgia.

1:05:30

I wanted to win, man, I

1:05:33

wanted to win, I wanted It was a lot

1:05:35

of things I wanted and that Georgia provided me.

1:05:37

Man.

1:05:37

So like

1:05:40

I'm bringing you back to high school, Man, I went to a private school

1:05:42

in high school, Davy, Florida. Not

1:05:45

too big, we want. They wanted the national

1:05:48

championships. I want to say two years before I got I got

1:05:50

there in my eighth grade year, so I started playing eighth grade

1:05:52

football varsity football for

1:05:54

five years. So that

1:05:58

was another reason why I went to the school to go there

1:06:00

to play varsity football. So then after

1:06:02

I got my offer to go to Georgia, getting

1:06:05

out of Florida was like a no brainer, you know what I'm saying, because

1:06:07

Florida schools wasn't Miami.

1:06:09

Ain't like the old Miami Florida, not

1:06:11

like the Florida or Florida Florida state.

1:06:14

They just had their great best year, their best year this year

1:06:16

and didn't even made the playoffs. So what I'm saying, so Georgia

1:06:18

was, you know, the next thing up, and I wasn't

1:06:21

able to feel that, you know, at high school, like I said,

1:06:24

we went in the biggest school, Like I could have went to Saint

1:06:26

Thomas acquaringness. Everybody know about Saint

1:06:28

Thomas is an American heritage down there. But

1:06:31

I ended up choosing Georgia because I wanted

1:06:33

an old line. That's one to me, being a runner

1:06:35

back. I needed an old line to run behind that's

1:06:37

gonna protect me out there.

1:06:39

And I wanted to win. You know what I'm saying.

1:06:40

I want to go out there and compete with the

1:06:42

best of the best, playing in the SEC best

1:06:44

division, and you know, out

1:06:46

there and compete with the best, Like I said, running best.

1:06:48

It was RBU.

1:06:49

First of all, Georgia's RBU. Everybody

1:06:52

knows that. And you know, I consider myself

1:06:54

to be the best. So you know, coming from South

1:06:56

Florida, we got a mentality out there and we're

1:06:58

not scared to compete. So that's something

1:07:01

I always had in my head as a young kid, and

1:07:03

man, when I knew Georgia was offered,

1:07:06

it was a no brainer.

1:07:06

Well and when you did, I mean not very many

1:07:09

guys get to say they are a two time, you

1:07:11

know, college football champion

1:07:14

back to back. But but Georgia,

1:07:16

when you went there, they they

1:07:19

weren't what they are yet. I mean they

1:07:21

obviously they mean great, great name.

1:07:23

I mean I had friends from California actually

1:07:26

went to Georgia when people weren't going to the

1:07:28

SEC. But they just the experience going

1:07:30

there, all the recruiting trip, talk about just

1:07:32

uh, Kirby smart and what

1:07:35

made it something so special.

1:07:36

That well, like I said, they actually

1:07:39

were was on the verge of you know, winning. They was

1:07:41

just going through bema. Bema

1:07:43

was up in the road they couldn't get over, you know what I'm saying. So

1:07:45

actually I told this to Kirby before I committed

1:07:47

to him. I told him I wanted to beat the reason or part

1:07:50

of the reason that we won, or beat THEMA. So

1:07:54

that just talking to Kirby, man, like you

1:07:56

said, I taught to him, had you know, countless

1:07:58

of the conversations with him, and just how he kept it's so real,

1:08:00

not just him the whole coaching stuff, the relationships

1:08:03

we built on the old

1:08:05

line of coach of course, you know, he just kept it so real with me

1:08:07

and just made me feel comfortable man. And

1:08:09

I felt the brotherhood there and

1:08:12

that's something that you know I had at my

1:08:14

high school and something I want to go into college. So the

1:08:17

brotherhood is something that you know, caught

1:08:20

my attention and also them, you know, they

1:08:22

was going to the national championship but just not winning because

1:08:24

BEMO or going to SEC championship, just not winning

1:08:26

because of Bama. And I wanted to be because of your

1:08:28

competitor, like I mentioned, I want to be, you

1:08:30

know, a part of that team because I knew he was. Even

1:08:33

so if you see the games, you know what I mean, SEC

1:08:35

Championship, they were supposed to win. One call messed

1:08:38

it up the game, you know, so little things

1:08:40

like that, and I just knew that Georgia was

1:08:42

going to be the team you know, beat

1:08:45

them.

1:08:45

And they did more

1:08:47

than that, you know what I'm saying. They did more than that.

1:08:49

You know, God blessed me with two national championships, like you said,

1:08:51

and you know, not a lot of people can say that.

1:08:53

No longest flight ever took was

1:08:56

leaving Washington State and going to Afford lot of

1:08:58

them to train. The longest flight

1:09:00

ever. I hop off the plane and I'm like, I'm in a

1:09:02

totally different place. I'm on first of calling

1:09:05

things Turnpike, I'm like, what the heck is the turn?

1:09:08

We got a big o wa Iguanas in the

1:09:10

middle of the time, Pike like, it's a

1:09:12

whole different world man, And yeah,

1:09:14

I was there for eight weeks and it took

1:09:16

some adjusting.

1:09:17

Man.

1:09:17

So now you did the opposite. You went from down

1:09:19

there up here. Man, What was that

1:09:22

journey like and what are the differences and how

1:09:24

do you like it up here?

1:09:25

Man?

1:09:26

First of all, I live it up here. I got y'all,

1:09:28

got me up.

1:09:29

Here at a great time when it was the summer, the

1:09:31

sun was, you know.

1:09:33

Got you everybody.

1:09:34

You know, everybody was outside, you know nowadays

1:09:36

like nah, this time and season, people

1:09:39

not outside no more. You know, it's raining, it's

1:09:42

foggy, you know, and stuff stuff like that. So that's

1:09:46

the number one difference, the biggest difference there. But you

1:09:48

know, down south, Uh,

1:09:52

that seemed I'm not gonna lie. I'm

1:09:54

kind of happy guy got me out of that scene. You know, Like

1:09:57

I always experienced being away from the house. I'm

1:10:00

the youngest out of my family, so I always

1:10:02

did things differently. Literally, I was spoiled.

1:10:04

I was able to do stuff different than my older saying.

1:10:07

So I wasn't always a home as much. I

1:10:09

was always gone. So that's probably another reason

1:10:11

I went to Georgia. They get

1:10:13

away, you know what I'm saying. So now

1:10:15

that I look at it, that I think God blessed me by coming

1:10:18

up here, you know, getting away from South Florida, because you

1:10:21

know, it's the same

1:10:23

like people people that's not from there. You

1:10:25

know, I hear this all the time, people that's not from

1:10:27

there, and they go to visit, they fall in love with it and stuff

1:10:30

like that. I grew up with it and seeing it and did

1:10:32

everything I can do down there, you know what I'm saying. So of

1:10:35

course that's my home. I'm always going to, you know, go

1:10:38

there. I'll always be back there and find my way back

1:10:40

there, you know what I'm saying that. But up here, man, it's just different.

1:10:43

Man. I just love the people here. I love the

1:10:45

fans.

1:10:45

Number one, I think they know the

1:10:47

twelves I said, I love them. I think they're you

1:10:49

know, special. I think the

1:10:52

brotherhood here on this football team too as well, like I

1:10:54

mentioned, and that takes that takes too far away if

1:10:56

you.

1:10:57

Don't know that a lot.

1:10:57

So that's why I mentioned it, because the brotherhood and

1:11:00

what the guys do on the day and the basis

1:11:03

not a lot of guys can do it, man, and it

1:11:05

shows and you know, the

1:11:08

beat it for your brother each and every day, it shows

1:11:10

a lot as well.

1:11:11

Yeah, I mean I was going to ask you that that

1:11:13

just that you talked about the love

1:11:16

and the brotherhood when you're at Georgia, and obviously what

1:11:18

Kirby belt there is

1:11:20

it similar here.

1:11:21

With definitely many I

1:11:23

said that my Fireman catch up. But everything since

1:11:26

I got here, man, and even the coach is gonna

1:11:28

say, Man, everything I seen at

1:11:30

Georgia, I see here and I

1:11:33

want to say Kirby got it from Pete

1:11:36

of course, but everything is

1:11:38

just similar. The meetings, the

1:11:40

walkthroughs, the practice, everything just

1:11:43

how we go about things, how he want

1:11:45

us to think. How Kirby, You know, Kirby,

1:11:47

that's another thing.

1:11:48

Kirby man do a.

1:11:49

Great tremendous job of getting

1:11:51

the guys to buy in, buy into their roles,

1:11:53

buy into what the responsibilities, you know, getting them to

1:11:55

grow up and to be a man.

1:11:56

And I think that's what took us far at

1:11:58

Georgia.

1:11:59

You know, we used to have these meetings called called

1:12:01

me is just to you know, dive into

1:12:04

your brain and mentally, like we already

1:12:06

know, you know, five stars for the stars. He don't

1:12:08

care about that. You want to know, you know, you mentally

1:12:10

tough, you know what I'm saying. So that's the little things we

1:12:13

did at Georgia, and they got us far, you know, because we already

1:12:15

knew he was gonna be physically prepared.

1:12:17

But when they get to that time, how you're mentally

1:12:19

gonna be, you know, that's gonna take you far away.

1:12:22

So that's another reason.

1:12:23

Do you hear about Because I'm

1:12:25

obviously Georgia put guys in the league, right, she

1:12:27

got dues you played with who are in the league at

1:12:29

different teams. Do you ever compare

1:12:32

stories about how the culture is different,

1:12:34

how experiences are different with with your former

1:12:36

teammates from like different teams.

1:12:38

Yeah, of course, man, of course

1:12:41

a lot of guys don't got to like me. I can say

1:12:43

that right now up here. Man, Pete

1:12:46

take care of us. He do a tremendous

1:12:48

job. I can just see that already now by by

1:12:50

how the old heads are on the team and how

1:12:53

they take care of their bodies and stuff like that. So a

1:12:56

lot of guys on the team, man, they're not getting the same

1:12:58

amount of you know, love that we uh at

1:13:01

dealing with Pete here and stuff like that. So a

1:13:03

lot of guys going through it like it is like they're still

1:13:06

in college, if that makes sense, going through camp

1:13:08

like it's still in college.

1:13:08

If y'all know what that is.

1:13:10

It's harder, you know what I'm saying, you have the more pass

1:13:12

on you, you out there longer on the field and stuff

1:13:14

like that. I'm not saying that we don't do that here or we

1:13:17

don't compete, because that's that's that's the theme of

1:13:19

the you know, of Pete's memo,

1:13:23

you know what I'm saying. So all it is you got to come and be compete

1:13:26

each and every day. So I

1:13:29

think, I

1:13:32

think, I think Kirby and Pete

1:13:34

are you know, definitely one of the talk coaches, and they

1:13:36

you know, they the game because just how

1:13:39

how mentally prepare they get us.

1:13:40

That's well, you know, like we're we're affiliated

1:13:42

with the team, right we covered the games pre halftime

1:13:45

in post so we always ask about guys, and we

1:13:47

ask about you and and the word is like you never

1:13:49

have a bad day, like you show up the same

1:13:51

every single day.

1:13:53

I'm sorry about that again, but I'll try to you know, show

1:13:56

up and be the same person going because I'm you know, like

1:14:00

I said, I'm my brother's keeper. Man. Even if I'm having

1:14:02

a bad day, you probably won't know about it because I

1:14:04

don't want you to, you know, feed

1:14:06

off my energy because I'm having a bad day. You don't

1:14:08

got to have a bad day, you know what I'm saying. So I try

1:14:11

to, you know, Hiday, even if I do have a bad day,

1:14:13

you know, hide it with a smile.

1:14:14

You know.

1:14:14

Everybody then they can't tell

1:14:17

you if I'm smiling, what I'm going through. If I'm smiling

1:14:19

and stuff like that. So but

1:14:21

yeah, man, I just try to keep my energy high, man, bring

1:14:23

the team together, bring laughter to the team, you

1:14:25

know.

1:14:25

Be that just my character.

1:14:26

That's the type of guy. You you know, I can't

1:14:29

play football, I'll be angry, you know what I'm saying. I can't.

1:14:31

I can't play football. Man, I'm gonna go out there and do something crazy.

1:14:33

So you know, as long as I be myself and you

1:14:35

know, keep that smiling my face, make everybody

1:14:37

else love, you know, just may just make sure

1:14:40

they're in a good mood and stuff like that, it's gonna take it as so far away

1:14:42

believe it or not.

1:14:43

So I learned that at Georgia as well,

1:14:45

too.

1:14:46

Well, we we could talk to you for I really

1:14:49

could now. Just you know, we we do this every

1:14:51

week.

1:14:51

We have people and you

1:14:53

know, just the way you think through your

1:14:56

your thoughts on this man, you just you got a great

1:14:58

soul. I mean it comes out a really

1:15:00

natural I got a real quick last question.

1:15:02

Now you're up there.

1:15:03

What are you we got to.

1:15:07

What do you like to do on your free time?

1:15:09

I like the fish. I like to watch movies.

1:15:11

I'm a good movie guy. But I do

1:15:13

like to go out there and get on that water. Sometimes I cast

1:15:16

it out to ease my mind peaceful.

1:15:19

I like the bowl.

1:15:20

I'm a good bullet. I'm a competitor.

1:15:23

I don't have to go anything.

1:15:24

What it is doing.

1:15:25

We can do whatever, ping pong, trash ball,

1:15:27

whatever, it don't matter, what to do, stacking our

1:15:29

chairs, musical chairs, whatever it is. Man, I'm

1:15:32

gonna beat a competitor and go out there, you

1:15:34

know, to give it my man. That's that's something

1:15:36

I'd like to do.

1:15:36

So that's what I like, Kenny

1:15:39

Man.

1:15:39

We appreciate your time, appreciate we

1:15:42

can't wait to see what you do. Man, we watched during camp.

1:15:45

We know, man, I can't wait to shoot.

1:15:47

All right, Man, give it one more time for Kenny McIntosh.

1:15:50

All right when we return, man, well we'll close

1:15:53

this thing off. Give you our final thoughts. That's next

1:15:55

right here on Hawks Lit.

1:15:56

The specific Northwest is the perfect backdrop

for the holidays season. J. P. Pettergat

Hawks Live presented by

1:16:06

the Dining District of the Bellevue Collection

1:16:09

at Bellevue Square Center Court, live

1:16:11

on air on Seattle Sports.

1:16:14

Welcome back to Hawks Live. We were

1:16:16

just joined by Kenny macintosh.

1:16:19

Man, if you want to hear a great interview,

1:16:21

make sure you go back and you listen to

1:16:24

that.

1:16:24

Me and Moyer have been doing this about four or.

1:16:26

Five years, interviewed

1:16:28

thirty to forty players, and clearly

1:16:31

one of the best ones.

1:16:32

That we've had.

1:16:33

Yeah, that was That's an impressive

1:16:35

young man right there. It's just, you know, just

1:16:37

the thought he has and his

1:16:40

answers, and you know, they just weren't coming out.

1:16:42

You know, a lot of like you come out of college, mean,

1:16:45

you're coached a little bit in the media. But

1:16:48

he's he's absolutely for real.

1:16:50

He's he might might be my new favorite player.

1:16:53

So be pulling for him.

1:16:55

And you know, look, we knew when

1:16:57

we drafted him that he had something that was

1:16:59

great. One he could come out

1:17:01

of the backfield that he played in a big time college,

1:17:03

a big time playmaker.

1:17:05

I really wish they'd give him some time. Yeah,

1:17:07

he definitely deserves it.

1:17:08

It's about tom Ola. He has some injuries, but now he's

1:17:10

healthy, We're gonna see what he

1:17:13

does. But we know that he is explosive.

1:17:15

He gets his hands on the football, he can

1:17:17

go and you're gonna need those exposive plays

1:17:19

this weekend because you know what the forty nine ers

1:17:21

can do, right, They got four or five guys or

1:17:24

liable to take it twenty thirty forty yards to the

1:17:26

house. So I'm excited

1:17:28

just to see how this team responds because

1:17:30

they lost a game that they felt like they could

1:17:32

have even should have won, and now you're playing

1:17:34

against an opponent that just re established

1:17:37

themselves as one of the best teams in

1:17:39

the NFL. So I think,

1:17:41

win or lose, you're gonna learn what

1:17:43

the character is like of this football team.

1:17:46

Yeah.

1:17:46

I mean when we lost to the Rams, that was a heartbreaker,

1:17:49

and we did not respond well the next week

1:17:52

when we got beat up by forty ninitors.

1:17:54

Thought we responded pretty well. I

1:17:57

don't know what this one's gonna be.

1:17:58

Here's what I don't think San Francisco is

1:18:00

gonna play as well as they played last week. They were

1:18:03

determined. They played that game like it

1:18:05

was a Super Bowl game. They play it pretty

1:18:07

much that anyway. But you know, maybe there's

1:18:09

a little bit.

1:18:10

Of a letdown. We've got to

1:18:12

win.

1:18:12

The challenge is man, it's on the road, the

1:18:15

ton grass outdoors.

1:18:18

Yeah, just you know a lot of

1:18:20

things, you know from that road game.

1:18:22

It's gonna be tough.

1:18:23

I'll know in the first

1:18:25

quarter though, right, and it's got to be we

1:18:28

make this thing more physical than I've

1:18:30

always I've always said that because you

1:18:32

know, the forty nine ers are not that big. You

1:18:34

know, you've got to be able to maul, but

1:18:36

they're quick and they're tough, so

1:18:39

you better be able to match that, and actually more

1:18:41

than match that, I mean, you've got to actually put

1:18:43

them on their butts.

1:18:45

So tough game coming up, though, Yeah, it's gonna be a

1:18:47

tough one.

1:18:48

I want to see the same

1:18:51

type of assertiveness that we saw out of Geno

1:18:53

two. I like what you said about that

1:18:55

throw against the Dallas

1:18:57

Cowboys, that slant a DK medcalp. He

1:19:00

made it look easy. That's not an easy throw, right,

1:19:02

There's so many things that you need to do. Take this safety

1:19:05

with your eyes, slip or himps, get back, and now put

1:19:07

it in a place where only your receiver

1:19:09

can get it. Knowing like you mentioned that Bland is

1:19:12

going to try to undercut that thing assertiveness,

1:19:15

and even him with his rushing

1:19:17

touchdown, there was no hesitation in his rushing touchdown.

1:19:19

It opened up, he saw it, he went for it.

1:19:21

I think that's when Gino was at his best,

1:19:23

right, when he's playing confident and being assertive.

1:19:25

Yeah, and I really I want to get

1:19:28

him up in the pocket. You

1:19:30

know, he he when he steps into

1:19:32

throws, he's much he's he

1:19:34

loses it when he retreats. Now

1:19:37

again, it's natural to say, oh, I feel

1:19:39

cornered. I want to escape, right and

1:19:41

I want to get out of the pocket. But

1:19:44

the really good ones step into the

1:19:46

pocket and you have to trust it. So you're

1:19:48

from California, have you ever you

1:19:51

know, been surfing or boogie boarding?

1:19:53

Yep?

1:19:53

Man, and you get that wave, Man, you got to trust

1:19:55

the wave.

1:19:55

He's not going to crash on you that you know you're

1:19:57

in that tube and it goes silent and

1:20:00

it's like you're in a zone. And that's what stepping

1:20:02

up in the pocket is. And uh, he did

1:20:04

that again. I don't know what that degree of difficulty

1:20:07

throw was to DK, but I'll bet

1:20:09

it was one of the top five for sure, you

1:20:11

know, toughest throws to make all

1:20:13

right this year?

1:20:14

So well, you know, we got one more week

1:20:16

of this moyer.

1:20:17

Yeah, everybody, come out. MAT's holiday time.

1:20:19

Last week.

1:20:19

We got gotta be festive.

1:20:21

Got a thousand people in front of us right now. Man,

1:20:23

the loyal twelves

1:20:25

1:20:27

out tonight.

1:20:28

And I'll bring my I'm gonna wear my Christmas finest.

1:20:31
