She's an accomplished Success Coach, Speaker, host of the Maximize Your Strengths podcast, as well as published Author of the hot new book; From Frustrated to Frickin' Awesome: 4 Steps to Achieve the Success You're Wired For. But more than anything else she's an exceedingly proud wife and mother of two, who loves helping others discover how to make their businesses and relationships thrive in harmony.

Alissa explains what Strength Finder is; that it’s essentially a psycho metric tool. It’s scientifically based and comprised of studies that span over 40 years which measures your aptitude for how you might go about doing things. It highlights how you can make your aptitude most enjoyable and play to your strengths. The magic and transformation of the strength finder profile is in the application and learning how to actually apply it to your day to day life.

3:45 Why Alissa started Strength Finder

She was in a networking organization called BNI – a place for business owners to get together and share their business. Apart of their training was Strength Finder. Handing her a book, Alissa took the test and was impressed by the accurate profiling of her strengths. Thinking that these things were negative about her, the test actually depicted that these were Alissa’s strengths. That’s when the shift happened for Alissa where she stopped focusing on her weaknesses. Taking a 30 week long certification course, she begun to understand the ins and out and the application of Strength Finder. Kamila shared her experience with taking the test about how her perceptions of the findings were changed when Alissa explained what they meant.

6:47 Applying your Aptitude and Strengths

  1. Look at your strength themes: Eliminate any pre disposed connotations to the findings is the first thing you have to do so you can understand that each of these strength themes have needs. When we do not meet the needs of our strength themes, they start to come out sideways and start to look ugly. Removing the connotations or beliefs around these strengths is what will aid it to be successful.
  2. Find the Contributions of these themes: The strengths naturally bring something to the table – for example, a competitive strength brings influence which can inspire people. When it serves you and your goals as well as other people, that’s when these aptitudes become strengths.

You always have access to your strengths, however in different stages in your life, you may turn to use one more than the other. Typically, we don’t see strength themes shift out of the 15 of the 34 themes. Alissa then talks about her “consistency” was ranked 34 on her list. She explains how she can use her top five strengths as a vehicle to achieve consistency.

How do you set yourself apart when there are lots of people with their own strengths and skill sets? You look directly at your contributions of your strength themes and use it to bring value to someone else. These are relators which is a vehicle to connect with your audience and prospective clients.
