This summer has been busy as normal and my time in the shop has been limited.  This past weekend I attended Fine Woodworking Live and had a great time.  One of the best things about doing an event like that is just renewing you passion and energy to get into the shop.  For myself I talk about woodworking all of the time as I am one of the host of the MWA Podcast but when times get busy talking is sometimes all that I do.

After getting back I was ready to get into the shop.  I have several project that I have been sketching all summer, collecting wood, and the shop is all clean and ready to go.  So yesterday I had a little time to get in there and work for a while.  The problem was that as soon as I hit shop I noticed something that has sit in the shop for far to long.  Earlier in the summer a neighbor brought over their daughters baby doll high chair that has been in their family for years.  The seat that was covered in fabric had came apart and needed to be replaced.  It was a simple project as it would be covered again once I was finished but I had put it off.

Looking at the dismantled high chair and thinking of my own little girls, I knew that I just couldn’t start a project of my own until this was finished.  It didn’t take long to get the old seat apart and a new one cut and drilled ready to be put back together.

It wasn’t exactly fine woodworking but it felt good to be in the shop and I knew she would be happy to have her doll’s high chair back.
