Krypton will follow Superman's grandfather, Seg-El, whose family, the House of El, has been ostracized and shamed. Seg-El fights to redeem his family's honor and save his beloved world from chaos.

200 years before Superman, the corrupt regime leading Krypton has Val-El, grandfather of Seg-El, tried for treason (due to research into alien life) and sentenced to death in the ruins outside Kandor. Seg, and his parents Ter & Charys, are stripped of privilege and banished to the no-class slums. 14 years later, After preventing a terrorist attack on the Lawmakers Guild, Seg is allowed to be married to Nyssa, the youngest daughter of the House of Chief Magistrate Daron-Vex- the same man who dishonored the Els. When Seg is alone, he is approached by Adam Strange with a Sun Crystal and a message to find the Fortress of Solitude. After Seg is nearly arrested past curfew, Charys finds and takes him to the Fortress outside Kandor City, containing Val-El's research into alien life. Val was researching something before his death, and was silenced for it and now the House of El needs to move forward in caution. When returning to the city, their home is raided and Charys is arrested. Brought before the council, and refusing to acknowledge the location of the Fortress, Seg's parents attack the guards to be killed by Jayna-Zod. Back at the Fortress, Adam Strange returns to a depressed Seg; telling him there is a future, but it is fading due to temporal meddling by a cosmic evil seeking to erase Superman- Brainiac.
