Chris kicks off our series on the book of Nehemiah by looking at Nehemiah's prayer to God in chapter one. In the face of the terrible news that Jerusalem's walls lie in ruins, Nehemiah prays from the knowledge that God is great and awesome, and that God has already comforted the broken hearted.
In the book of Nehemiah we find the city of David, Jerusalem, in ruins. In lots of ways it was due to failings over many years, of the people of God, to trust, follow and serve Him. Even after God continually draws them back to him, is patient, slow to anger and abounding in love, they persist in their sin and find themselves and their city in ruins. But God is about a great work of restoration, in their lives and in our lives today.
