We're going to try to do some call -ins and so we've got some patrons watching live right now. It's something that we might be able to do with the general audience in the future, but we're testing it out right now. So we'll see how that goes. First, we're going to start off by giving a brief review and a score for the movie. We score on a scale of one to ten. After we give our score, we'll get into spoilers and take a deeper dive. into what we liked and hated about the film. Today we are reviewing the iconic An American Werewolf in London. After we get through our review, we're going to be doing our new bit horror movie chat lines where listeners like you can call in and ask us questions and we'll figure out how to do it. And you know, I almost wonder if we should just do it as like relationship advice. Like I think that's... sydney (05:57.803) GASP Bryce (05:59.498) I think that's where the meat is, you know? Uh huh. sydney (06:01.085) Yeah, I think we'll be so good at that. Max (06:01.53) But... But we didn't advertise it as relationship advice. What if they want to know about our favorite horror movie? Bryce (06:07.306) it doesn't matter they can they can ask that too uh we'll see we'll we'll uh we'll see what works what doesn't Max (06:13.914) I am a certified love doctor. I'll just throw that out there. Bryce (06:17.354) Okay. sydney (06:18.891) No. Bryce (06:21.488) Gross. Alright, um, wow, I can't hear myself at all, but that's okay. Okay, an American werewolf in London can be found free with ads on Roku, Tubi, Flex, and Freevee. Two American tourists, David and Jack, are hiking through Europe when they are attacked by a giant wolf in the northern moorlands of Britain. A month later, during the full moon, David turns into a werewolf, but not an ordinary British werewolf. sydney (06:26.955) I can hear you so good. Bryce (06:51.434) This one is louder, friendlier, individualistic, and more confident than British werewolves. It wreaks havoc on London biting and slashing through town while being openly patriotic. An American Werewolf in London is a classic 80s horror movie that stands the test of time. Director John Landis brings the humor he is known for from Animal House and Blues Brothers and combines it with the horror that he brought to behind the scenes of Twilight Zone the movie. sydney (07:01.738) Hahaha Bryce (07:19.978) The cast of I hope I'm not the only one that gets gets that the cast of relative unknowns, David Naughton and Griffin Dunn bring a convincing casualness as college friends and really sell the humor. The real star of the show is Rick Baker's practical effects and the werewolf transformation stands as the gold standard of metamorphosis on camera. sydney (07:37.386) Ahem. Bryce (07:45.962) While the film does have humor, I would describe it more as casual, which is a great contrast to the gory violence and disturbing dreamy jump cuts that jump that pop out at you throughout. The film isn't too ambitious and keeps the plot to a basic monster movie. There's a monster. It attacks people as reminiscent of the old universal horror movies, but it's spiced up with the quirky 80s flavor of dialogue and weird non sequiturs. throughout I really found it enjoyable I think this is the first time I've watched it from beginning to end I've seen the like metamorphosis I've seen it like from the midway point like half a dozen times probably but I haven't watched it from the very beginning and it was really enjoyable and I see why it works long term and yeah the practical effects are amazing and still is probably the best transformation scene on film but it's wrapped in kind of like a fun kind of easy breezy movie that you're engaged with the characters and everyone's pretty likable while keeping you on your toes from just random you know out of the blue scenes and lines from from the cast so i give it a 10 out of 10 i loved it sydney (09:13.834) Yeah, I thought this was very surprising how good it was for me because I've obviously heard of this movie, I've never seen it before last night, but I don't know, I was like, okay, a werewolf movie. I'm not super into werewolves as a genre of horror. I've never found them very compelling. And after you watch Twilight, you're like, what the fuck? But I was pleasantly surprised by this film. I was... I absolutely loved every second of it. I thought it was fun. I thought it was so refreshing. And then checking that it came out in 1981, I was like, this stands. This holds up. This is very enjoyable. Practical effects will always have a special place in my heart. And this is right up there with the practical effects of Nightmare on Elm Street, the original one. It was truly, truly incredible. And... I loved every second of it. I'm gonna give it a nine out of 10 and that's just because I broke my tooth while watching it and that kind of ruined my experience just a little bit and also I showed Max before but this is how much of my tooth. Comparison from my finger. Yeah, it was a filling but it feels like half my tooth is gone because it was a filling in between my teeth. So yeah, they obviously had to shave down my tooth for that. So yeah, in the middle of this movie, I deposit and call my dentist and I'm getting it on Monday, guys, so it's gonna be fine, but. Max (10:49.69) Wait, so you were flossing while watching an American werewolf in London? sydney (10:54.247) Well, you know those little floss picks things? Yeah, I just ate dinner when I first started watching it and I got food stuck in my teeth. So I grabbed a floss pick from the bathroom. And why is that weird? Bryce (10:58.538) Uh huh. Max (11:09.914) I floss. Bryce (11:10.346) it's weird to max but max is weird so i mean i wouldn't take it too seriously sydney (11:12.549) Hehehehe! Max (11:13.722) Okay, well that was just straight -up rude, but No, I just don't floss that much. I guess I floss like every few days at night sydney (11:22.503) I don't either. That's the whole thing. It's like I, my dentist is always like, you need to floss more. And then I fucking floss and my tooth falls out. So it's like, I don't, like, should I be flossing more or should you put the filling in correctly? Like, I don't know. But I mean, whatever. She was very responsive and it was fine. But with all that said, this movie was incredible. when I paused it at one point to go to the bathroom or something, and there was only 20 minutes left, and I would have taken another full hour of this movie when there was 20 minutes left. I was like, that is really crazy that we're almost done with this, because I would have kept watching it. I would have just watched it all night. It was great, nine out of 10. Max (12:12.954) Well first of all, Bryce, what's with the shade? What the heck, man? You're just... calling me weird right out... right at the beginning of the episode? Bryce (12:19.53) I mean I'm constantly throwing you shade after you tried to guilt me into feeling bad about watching the movie late so Max (12:32.442) Well now it's like you're trying to prove something because you're like, wow, take this Max, I watched the movie the day of or the morning of, like, you don't have to prove anything to me, it's just, I just find it odd is all. Bryce (12:39.196) Uh huh. Uh huh. sydney (12:44.264) Max, to everyone listening, Max likes to watch the movies like for three or four days in advance and. Bryce (12:45.834) I'm just - Max (12:50.17) I watched the movie on Wednesday, I'm not a psychopath, I just gave it a few days and - sydney (12:53.16) I watched it last night and finished it at 10 .30 p .m. and I don't know. Bryce, when did you watch it? Bryce (13:00.778) um same except in my time zone yeah it was fine and look at this beautiful episode that i produced for you uh no max you're not weird it's it's fine you're a good boy sydney (13:03.4) Yeah, okay. Max (13:05.306) Alright, alright, well... Max (13:11.258) I love your episode. sydney (13:12.52) It is great. All right. Max (13:16.922) Okay. Thank you. Well, I appreciate you saying that because I'm very insecure and I crave validation from you. So, um... Bryce (13:23.946) So what did Max what did you think about the movie? sydney (13:25.608) We love you. Max (13:29.562) I loved it. I thought it was great. I've been kind of avoiding this movie because I don't really like werewolves. I think that they're boring and weird and they I feel like the transformation is never what you picture in your mind. But this I thought they did a great job. I was having fun the whole time. The characters just felt really real and relatable. And I the friendship especially at the beginning. was really interesting to me. I love the idea of your best friend coming back from the dead to tell you to kill yourself. I think that's hilarious. So I'm gonna give it a nine out of 10 as well. sydney (14:06.694) Hahaha! Bryce (14:08.114) yeah yeah it was great so is this all of our first times watching it wow i mean that's the expertise and background you get with horror movie talk you know fresh perspective from people that are supposed to be authorities we're not it's okay i i gotta say so yeah we were chatting on the sydney (14:12.261) Yay, we all loved it. Max (14:18.554) I think so, yeah. sydney (14:20.647) That's rare. Bryce (14:35.974) over text while Sydney was experiencing her dental emergency. And I'll tell you. sydney (14:41.926) Apparently it's not an emergency when you just lose a filling. If I was bleeding from the mouth nonstop, that would have been an emergency, but no, it wasn't really an emergency. Bryce (14:46.058) Yeah. Bryce (14:51.146) yeah it just really hurts to do anything with that tooth for the time being yeah i i'll tell you i um like when I was getting ready for bed and brushing my teeth there was like a bit of food food stuck in between my teeth and I was like I should probably floss and I was like no I'm not not gonna chance it not now sydney (15:11.502) Hahaha! Max (15:13.114) No. Floss is the silent killer. sydney (15:14.374) I don't think I'm ever gonna floss again. Like I literally don't think I'm going to pick up a floss pick. And like these floss picks I got were from the dollar store. So like they are the strongest fucking floss picks ever. I did not expect that. I just like picked them up last time I was there. And yeah, I was like, what the fuck? Like, yeah, so don't floss everyone. That's my advice. Don't floss if you have fillings. Cause they just come out apparently. Bryce (15:23.304) Hmm. Bryce (15:28.906) It's just braided steel flossers. Max (15:41.882) 9 out of 10 doctors hate horror movie talk. Or dentists. 9 out of 10 dentists. sydney (15:43.973) Hahaha! Bryce (15:44.33) Yeah, nine out of 10 dentists do not recommend horror movie talk. One of them is pretty cool. sydney (15:49.382) I do commend my dentist for calling me back at 9 p .m. on a Friday night. Like that was really big of her. Shout out to my doctor. Oh, she was. Max (15:49.804) haha Bryce (15:56.97) that's that's a good dentist yeah so drop her a line advertise your dentist by name if you're in the Boston area Max (16:00.058) Mm -hmm. sydney (16:03.876) Give away where I live! sydney (16:08.518) Um, what is her name? I always forget her name because I just started going to her. So, um, Dr. Rad. Dr. Rad. Love her. There you go. Yeah. Bryce (16:12.842) Dr. Teeth. Bryce (16:21.866) Dr. Rad? Does she wear 80s sunglasses and ride a skateboard? Max (16:21.914) Dr. Rad? That's awesome. sydney (16:26.598) I mean she's pretty young so maybe. Bryce (16:32.874) That's awesome. All right, well, let's. Max (16:34.682) I wanna quickly point out that I didn't have time to go grab an energy drink this morning, so I'm drinking pre -workout. I figured it would be a good science experiment to show Bryce what the itchiness does to a man. I'm already starting to feel very itchy. Anyways, that's all I had to say, go on. Bryce (16:44.138) Mmm. sydney (16:51.462) There are bugs in your skin, there are bugs in your skin, there are bugs in your skin. Bryce (16:57.834) see I've got I've got the McDonald's diet coke from from breakfast this morning. They do it right. All right. Now on to everyone's favorite part of the episode. The mid roll. If you're listening to commercials, if you heard any commercials at the beginning or right before I'm talking right now, you should know that you don't have to. sydney (17:00.839) Delicious. No, I'll figure out how much they charge. No, I'll mail you one, Sydney. I'll mail you and Max a couple. sydney (18:15.493) Can I have one? sydney (18:19.749) can buy it. Bryce (19:16.234) you Bryce (19:23.978) getting really self -conscious about my breathing on I've gotten so many comments about Bryce it sounds like you're dying while you're breathing and I hear it when I hear the recording and I don't hear it while I'm on the recording so I apologize sydney (19:43.139) I think I'm desensitized to it, honestly. I don't even notice it anymore. Bryce (19:47.626) You know, I'm a large man. I need a lot of oxygen. I'm sorry. It happens. I'll try to I'll be like the viral guy and I turn my head to breathe. Okay. All right. Max (20:02.234) I love your breathing, it means you're alive. Bryce (20:06.122) Thanks, Max. All right, well, let's let's jump into the movie. Yeah, one of the notable things is the soundtrack so heavily leans into the moon related hits. That's why. sydney (20:16.002) It's so good. sydney (20:23.811) It's awesome, it's fucking amazing. I wish they did werewolves in London though. Really missed opportunity. Bryce (20:29.354) yeah he yeah he didn't do that one i think there was a couple that he wanted to do there was a a uh cat stevens song about the moon that cat stevens didn't want him to use in the film because it was violent and he had converted to islam and started going by his new name sydney (20:54.018) Yeah, the needle drop of bad moon rising made me so excited. I was watching the Super Bowl. I was like, let's go! I was like, fucking awesome! Bryce (20:59.37) yeah so it starts out with blue moon and then there's there's actually three versions of blue moon used throughout this movie they really lean into that i love like the more i watch movies the more i love little things like how how quickly the introduction of the main characters was in this movie Max (21:25.114) Yeah. Bryce (21:25.386) It's just two guys, they get out of a chicken truck and they just turn to each other and go, David, Jack. They're like, all right, well, now we know who our main characters are. Now we can move on. It's it's great writing. But yeah, we're introduced to the main characters to hikers. It sounds like they're going on a European tour because they keep mentioning Italy and that they started in England. And so they're in northern England. It's foggy and rainy and they're just Max (21:31.576) Mm. Bryce (21:55.338) on a walking tour really felt like a lot of this was ad -libbed like apparently in the in the trivia talks about like the when they turn and say goodbye to the sheep or wait is it sheep or is it chickens it's sheep yeah they they turn and say goodbye to the sheep as the trekker leaves which is a nice touch and yeah it feels very genuine like a genuine friendship apparently like they sydney (22:10.69) Yeah, it's cheap. It's cheap. Max (22:11.514) Yeah, sheep. Bryce (22:25.162) they never met each other before this movie so. Max (22:27.258) That's surprising, because they have really good chemistry. They just seem like two bros. sydney (22:29.922) Yeah, they really did. Bryce (22:31.914) Yeah, and they're both unknown. David Naughton apparently was in the I'm a Pepper, You're a Pepper, Dr. Pepper commercials, and that was his only real credit before this. Max (22:43.738) Wow. sydney (22:43.905) Fun fact, after this movie he got fired from Dr. Pepper because he was naked. Bryce (22:48.522) right he was naked in this film and that's not Max (22:48.57) That would have been a great opportunity for him to be naked in a Dr. Pepper commercial. sydney (22:54.273) With the Dr. Pepper can over his dick Max (22:56.78) Yeah. Bryce (22:57.226) I mean a doctor should be used to seeing people naked to be honest I mean it's part of the job so they they are hiking and then they come across this pub called the slaughtered lamb which has a none too subtle placard above with a wolf's decapitated head on a spike which is great sydney (23:20.961) They go, where's the lamp? which was funny. Bryce (23:26.826) and they they go in and it's the most unfriendly group of uh english people in the universe because they all just stop and stare Max (23:36.922) I really like that part because I I've walked into my fair share of dirty dangerous bars on my mission when I had to pee a lot and this was just not the group I was expecting they all just look like they would be very friendly they're just not at this moment I don't know it doesn't feel very menacing to me sydney (23:59.167) I feel like in this, like in the context of where they are, like it's literally like a town with like 10 houses in it and like a pub. And so like they're probably like, why are there outsiders in our like small rural Northern England town? So, and also with the lore of the town, like they do not welcome outsiders, but I appreciated it being like a bigger part of the film than I thought it was going to be, because I thought they were just going to be there. you know, get cast out and that was it, but no, like they do flashback to there when the doctor goes and stuff, and I'm glad that they were all like characters because, you know, that's where all this shit came from. Bryce (24:41.194) Yeah, it's a little weird because like, at this point, you don't really know what the movie is about. But they're in this creepy pub where everyone's kind of creeping at them. And then they see like a pentagram on the wall surrounded by burning candles. And so you're asking yourself like, these guys fucking Satanist like did I walk into like a Satanist pub and we didn't know it and they're just like those guys are Christian. We're like two seconds away from putting them on a spike. So you don't really know why they're being so standoffish. And really, it's never actually explained. They're just kind of assholes, you know. Max (25:25.434) Well, I think it just has to do with how strong the werewolf lore is in this tiny town. Like, they all have bought into it 100 % and they know that no one's gonna believe them and so they are so like afraid of every little change because they know that there's a wolf man out there. Bryce (25:46.792) Mm hmm. I mean, it's a weird rationalization because it's like, they're just shy. They don't want to be judged by their knowledge of werewolves. Like, we can't tell them they'll think we're crazy. It's like, okay. But you're okay with just like, mean mugging them, like everyone that walks in the door, like, all right. So and Max (25:55.834) It is. sydney (26:05.213) I know. Max (26:09.978) They won't like us if they know we know about the wolf man. Bryce (26:16.496) Apparently it's this big secret though, you know, they can't talk about the werewolf like, you know, first rule of of a slaughtered lamb is you don't talk about the slaughtered lamb. So. sydney (26:27.741) It's also interesting because later on, jumping ahead, it's explained that there are people in limbo that can't move on because the wolf's bloodline has to be severed. And so it was kind of confusing because when the wolf originally attacks the two guys, the townspeople come and they shoot him. I just didn't expect the... the wolf to die so quickly, like the original wolf. So I was like, cause they don't show you that he died. So I was like, oh, so like David is the only wolf. Like I was like, oh, interesting. Oh, they did. Maybe I was worried about my tooth and I didn't. Bryce (27:11.178) No, they show you that the wolf died. It is a little confusing because, yeah, they don't... they show a dead man on the ground that's shot. Max (27:13.85) Yeah, they - he - well he's - he's transformed into a man. sydney (27:18.524) Oh, right, right, oops. Right. Max (27:23.546) which I actually really liked. I think that's cool. Bryce (27:25.834) yeah yeah it talks about in the trivia that like a lot of the test audience didn't get that the the naked man was the wolf because it didn't show any kind of transformation sydney (27:27.068) Sorry. sydney (27:36.219) Yeah, you don't, I don't think you would understand that until the end of the movie where you're like, oh, okay, okay, okay. Max (27:42.97) I mean, I got it right away, but I watched it on Wednesday, so I had a lot of time to reflect on the movie. sydney (27:47.163) Listen, my tooth broke last night. I had a lot going on, okay? Bryce (27:50.41) yeah i got it right away sydney like i knew i was watching a werewolf movie so i just like put two and two together sydney (27:57.499) Maybe I'm just the stupidest person. Bryce (28:00.362) well you are a girl so um so we the only thing that they're told basically the only thing that the townspeople tell david and jack is keep clear of the moors stay to stick to the roads and they're the truck driver tells them this too and then of course Max (28:01.208) Maybe. sydney (28:01.883) Hahaha Cue the misogynistic comments. Max (28:27.226) Don't they also say, beware the moon? Bryce (28:29.802) yeah beware of the moon or what would it was it beware the moon or yeah and of course because this is a horror movie they promptly trudge off into the moors sydney (28:35.067) Yeah. sydney (28:44.314) I was like the one thing, like they literally immediately when they leave the pub, they immediately go into the morse. Like they don't even try to like go on the street. They're like, we're gonna go try to find an inn. And then they don't. Just leave? Bryce (28:57.898) Yeah, I bet there's an in over on them mores over there. sydney (29:01.344) Like there are no buildings and there's no lights, so I don't know what you guys are doing Max (29:06.202) I like how they're still just like joking around even though they're like sloshing through this more and like there's horrible howling sounds around them and they're just like, this is kind of fun. Bryce (29:17.16) Mm -hmm. sydney (29:17.594) They're talking about how much fun they're going to have in Italy and like, um, what's his name? Not David. The other one, he was like, I need to fuck this girl in Italy. And David's like, you're not going to like, there's no way that you will actually. Just funny. Bryce (29:20.21) Uh -huh. Max (29:20.28) Mm -hmm. Bryce (29:33.482) now I know obviously but for the listeners Max could you could you define what a more is Max (29:45.594) Is it some sort of hilly grassy area? Bryce (29:51.498) um close it's a tract of open uncultivated upland a heath you know a heath Max (29:59.354) heat. sydney (30:00.793) I just thought of it as fields, which is kind of the same thing. Bryce (30:05.994) What was it? David texted me and he found out... What was the word? There's this old archaic British word for like a quarter of an acre. Max (30:18.958) quarter of an acre, why would you need to know that? Bryce (30:22.826) um a rude Max (30:23.492) It's like not that much land. sydney (30:26.234) I am willing you a rude of my property. Like, shut up. Bryce (30:27.818) No, that's not what it was. Max (30:30.778) You can put a storage shed on it and a small garden. Bryce (30:35.754) man i can't remember what it was i'll have to figure out it's like an archaic word but anyways yeah they're trudging through the moorland and uh... they of course get attacked by a giant wolf uh... they don't pull any punches on this attack like his jack is mauled awfully like it's it's really gory sydney (30:51.02) No. sydney (30:56.249) I thought it was hilarious when Jack is getting mauled and then David runs away with like not much fervor. He is just, he's trotting away and then he goes, oh Jack. And then he runs back to him. He was like, oh shit, what am I doing? My friend is dying. He's just like, do do do. Bryce (31:01.418) Right. Right. Bryce (31:14.378) which yeah I mean honestly it's that's a great friend and also the worst decision he could have made I think if if I'm on a walk max and there's a grizzly bear that attacks you and you're mauled on the ground and getting like torn open from stem to stern I would run away sydney (31:21.593) I know. Max (31:22.712) Mm -hmm. Max (31:27.642) Mm -hmm. Max (31:32.73) Yeah. Okay. Max (31:39.898) Mm -hmm. Bryce (31:42.506) like I'm not saving you I'm sorry sydney (31:43.449) Smart, yes. Max (31:44.346) I mean that's fair, but first of all I don't think that would happen to me, but for the purpose of the story that's fine. Bryce (31:48.7) Yeah, I mean you would you would be faster than me so it's more likely that the bear would attack me Max (31:52.666) I think I'm just built different. I think I could, I don't know how I would get out of that situation, but I would. sydney (31:58.903) Yeah. Bryce (31:59.05) Yeah, well, I mean, okay, if you did not drink your pre workout, would you be able to handle a bear? Right, but with the pre workout, be like, come at me, come at me, bitch. Max (32:04.666) Oh no, I would be dead. I would be dead so fast. Yeah. I'd be like... Um, yeah, I'm screaming in my head by the way. I just am trying to stay calm. Bryce (32:17.172) Yeah. How much caffeine isn't a pre workout? Max (32:22.714) like 300 milligrams if you take a full scoop. sydney (32:25.945) That's more than coffee, right? Bryce (32:29.162) coffee is yeah what is like a Red Bull? Jeez yikes. Max (32:30.234) It's like two Red Bulls. sydney (32:31.161) I'm gonna Google that right now. Two Red Bulls. Max (32:35.596) Yeah, because a red bull is 160. Or wait, is it 160 or one? I don't know. Who cares? Anyways, yeah, it's a lot. sydney (32:41.05) There is 95 milligrams in one cup of coffee. That is three times. That's insane. Like that is like... And you don't drink coffee? You don't drink coffee? Max doesn't drink coffee, but he'll willingly drink pre -workout to record an episode. Bryce (32:42.406) I'm sorry. Bryce (32:51.178) yeah max is going to be tweaking on this episode Max (32:54.458) I'm literally tweaking Max (33:02.17) That's what God told me to do. Bryce (33:02.442) Sydney it's different it's different pre -workout isn't hot it's not a hot drink yeah except for hot chocolate you can drink hot chocolate it's we'll save it for the after pod we'll uh we'll get into the ins and outs of the word of wisdom on the after pod um sydney (33:09.306) What? Is that like the rule? Max (33:10.766) You can't drink hot drinks. For a while soup was lumped in, but we can drink soup now. sydney (33:17.146) Are you fucking serious? Max (33:19.482) They used to think it gives you throat cancer. sydney (33:25.818) I mean, coffee is not good for you, but... Max (33:26.106) I actually have a lot of things I need to talk about, so I don't know if we'll have time. Bryce (33:28.81) Yeah. Um. sydney (33:30.903) Coffee is not good for you, but tea is so good for you. I have so many teas that like heal me. Max (33:36.218) Well, you can drink the ones that are good for you. Okay, we're spending too much time on this. sydney (33:39.001) Okay, okay, okay. Ah! Bryce (33:40.33) right all right so they're attacked David runs back to try to save Jack of course that does not work he promptly starts to get mauled by the werewolf but then the townspeople save him by shooting the giant wolf and killing it there's a brief shot where we see a naked man bleeding next to him which who's not Jack and if you do the math that's the man that's a werewolf and he turned back into a man Sydney and then David wakes up this is I think horror movie talks just gonna be me roasting you two for no reason whatsoever like sydney (34:23.193) I'm okay with it. Max (34:23.93) Well I have noticed that the roasting is like, taking up a notch. I don't know where it's coming from but uh... sydney (34:29.177) We're getting more comfortable with each other. Yay. Bryce (34:31.306) Yeah. Max (34:33.786) I just need that validation. Can you later text me some nice words so that I know that you still like me? Bryce (34:33.898) um i just realized that like Bryce (34:41.098) Well, what happens normally with David is he'll just blow up at me and tell me like he really doesn't like that and stop doing it. And I was like, Oh, okay, well, I guess I'll stop doing that because David is angry and he's angry at me. But you guys are too shy. You're not going to blow up at me. So I'll just beat you down like a bully. Max (34:59.61) I'm not too shy, I'm starved for positive attention, Bryce. I need to know that I'm doing okay. Bryce (35:07.498) as am I and also start for oxygen apparently according to our comments so he wakes up in a hospital three weeks later which is a smart I mean here's the thing he's not that hurt I mean that's like the the thing is like he's only got superficial wounds but for some reason he's been in a coma for three weeks but it's literally just a device to be like Max (35:29.498) Yeah. Bryce (35:32.81) Now we just have to wait a week till the next full moon and not an entire month. Max (35:33.082) It's... Yeah. sydney (35:35.991) Yeah, I thought, I mean, obviously, yeah, that's why they did that. But like, I kind of thought in like the reasoning of like werewolves and stuff, I was like, maybe he was just so wiped out from like, like his body is now transforming into like half of a werewolf. So like, maybe it needed time to adjust. I don't know. I feel like it it wasn't like the continuity error that like a lot of horror movies have, you know what I mean? But also it does set up the full moon, obviously. Max (36:06.106) Yeah, I think that the doctors probably assumed that it was like a trauma response, like he was so traumatized by his friend dying that he went into a coma. But, right, yes, I took it as he's now infected with the werewolf disease and that knocks you out for a little while. sydney (36:15.03) Which he was. Bryce (36:25.898) I took it as that's very convenient to the plot. So anyways, he's in the hospital for a while. It's weird, even his scars are healed. They're visibly healed. They're not even bandaged. And for some reason, he's... sydney (36:40.085) He's like fine. Max (36:41.562) Also, he doesn't even get ugly scars, he gets like, hot scars. sydney (36:44.725) I know, it's like nice. I thought he was cute. Bryce (36:45.074) Yeah. Did Did you know in in Germany in the World War, like a ton of Germans had scars on their faces from dueling? Max (36:49.594) Me too! Bryce (37:01.354) like that's why like all the villains and in movies like have scars on their faces so when the there's a line in here where it says the doctor says he's got a dueling scar because it's the cool scar you got a scar on your face that's a slash so you want a knife fight or something and then the sydney (37:04.008) Oh, really? sydney (37:17.845) Face guards are hot. Yeah. Max (37:21.722) I have a scar on my arm that looks like a waffle because one time I picked up a hot waffle iron. I don't know if you can see it on the, you can't see it on the camera, but it looks like a waffle. The waffle pattern. Bryce (37:32.298) Nice, nice. You weren't you weren't waking up for breakfast like Michael Scott in the office. Did you roll over and. Max (37:39.706) No, that wasn't how it happened. My mom told me to clean the kitchen and I didn't know it was still hot. Bryce (37:46.166) Ricky mistake. So he's in this hospital for a while we're introduced to a nurse that sydney (37:46.227) Damn, I'm sorry. sydney (37:53.401) Immediately when they introduced you to the nurse, I knew she was going to be the love interest because she was hot and she was like very present in the scene and I was like, yeah, there's going to be something going on and there was. Bryce (38:04.682) it feels a little out of the blue there's not really much build up to it other than just like oh you're sitting next to me I'm gonna just we're gonna exchange longing looks at each other and it's like yeah that's enough I love it in the trivia talks about John Landis who also wrote the movie talks about how he wrote this when he was like a teenager and that explains the sex scenes you know he's like sydney (38:27.317) So this is one of the horniest movies I have ever seen. Like honestly, like there are movies that have a lot of sex in them, but they're not horny movies, you know what I mean? But this one is like, oh my God, like, like the whole, like there's a whole scene of them in like a, what, like a porn theater? I don't know what you call them. But like, that is like a very elongated scene. Like it is, it is very sexually charged, which I like. Bryce (38:37.738) Uh -huh. Bryce (38:54.696) Mm -hmm. sydney (38:55.572) about the 80s movies like it's it's a it's a fun to do like horror and sex go hand in hand to me if there is a horror movie devoid of sex it's missing something in my opinion like Max (39:08.442) I actually thought that movie they were watching at the theater was really funny because they, whoever wrote that part, like hats off to you. It's like, it was like just random stuff happening. sydney (39:17.588) hilarious. Bryce (39:21.738) right yeah it's like using the tried and true horror or porn tropes but then subverting them they're like how could you like i don't who are you i don't know who you are it's like yeah sydney (39:35.139) He goes, oh, wrong room. And then the phone call one where she's like, hello. Oh, you must have the wrong number. Then she's like bow chicka wow wow. So good. Max (39:37.722) Yeah. Max (39:45.048) Hahaha. Bryce (39:47.306) yeah no i mean it's it's definitely yeah i mean i think after watching lisa frankenstein i just realized like yeah 80s movies have something special in them like just that lightness and that like playfulness and you realize like how serious movies are now because it's all corporate product it's not there's not a lot of like sydney (39:58.003) They do. sydney (40:05.876) Ugh, they're so serious. Bryce (40:10.618) interesting voices and then when like an interesting voice comes out you're like holy shit like this is great and then the corporations glom on to them and then just like suck the life out of them see taiko waititi sydney (40:24.754) Literally, like I love what we do in the shadows, like the movie and then the series, like I really do enjoy the series, but like, oh God, he's sold out very much. Bryce (40:37.93) Yeah. Um. So anyways, he's he's in the hospital. The hospital before he leaves has one of the greatest lines in the movie. And it's actually apparently John Landis is favorite line to which is the doctor talking to David after David talks about these horrible nightmares that he's having. And he's like, No, just just remain sane, at least until you're not our responsibility. He's like, just remain sane long enough to leave the hospital because don't want you here because honestly there's no reason that he should be there he's kind of more of a liability than anything to the hospital probably we should talk about the nightmares so he's he's in the hospital and like it jump cuts to all these bizarre dream sequences of him running naked in the woods yeah and then like random things were like nazi werewolves are attacking him and his friends sydney (41:19.635) Right. sydney (41:28.947) which are fucking awesome. Bryce (41:39.016) and then he wakes up and then the nasty werewolves are still attacking the nurse and you're like shit there's it's a great scene where yeah sydney (41:46.067) It was so good. Like they killed his whole family in one of the dreams. And yeah, I thought they were, this movie is just so good. It has everything that you would want out of a movie. In general, not even just a horror movie. Like it really like, like, I just. Max (41:51.258) Oh yeah. Max (42:04.884) Nazi werewolves is something I never thought I'd see, but I have now. Bryce (42:05.042) Yeah. sydney (42:10.258) I mean Nazi zombies are very, there are in a lot of movies. Max (42:13.274) Oh trust me I know all about nazi zombies. sydney (42:16.402) We should do Dead Snow. I don't know if you guys have seen that, but it's good. Bryce (42:19.114) we should I'm trying to find the like one of the dream sequences it has kind of this this weird it's a really iconic image I'm trying to find an imdb but I'm not gonna be able to find it sydney (42:36.658) Was it the werewolves face? Is that what you're talking about? Bryce (42:39.204) Yeah, he's in the hospital bed, but it's the though. It's not quite aware. It looks more like a zombie. Here it is. sydney (42:46.777) Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, and he's behind the, like they open the curtain and then it shoots the nurse. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It's like a vampire kind of. Bryce (42:51.114) this one. Yeah. Just like, it just looks. Yeah, looks more like a vampire. So like, it's one of those images that you see in trivia all the time. We're like, what movie is this from? And it's like, would you assume this is from a werewolf movie? Because I always thought it was like a vampire movie. sydney (43:06.906) No. Max (43:07.064) No. sydney (43:09.97) That was scary too. But yeah, and then he's about to get out of the hospital and the nurse is like, do you have anywhere to stay? And he's like, no. And then it flashes to them going to her apartment together, which. Max (43:23.418) Yeah, you can tell this was written by a teenage boy. Like, just things that never happen in real life. Hey, do you have - Bryce (43:26.632) Yeah, horny teenage boy. sydney (43:26.802) Also like, HIPAA violation? I don't think that you can, like, I don't think you can do that. I'm not sure that you can do that. I also loved when they got, I also think it's funny when they get to her apartment and she starts spilling her guts about her past and she's like, I've taken seven lovers in my life and three of them were one night stands and he's like, I really don't give a fuck and just starts fucking her. Max (43:33.21) Yeah, you definitely can't do that. You're very sure I can't do that. Bryce (43:38.25) a nurse now i've watched plenty of movies that tell me that that's fine sydney (43:58.033) I'm like, let's go. Like, it's like, does it matter? Like, this does not matter. I don't care. Let's get in the shower. Like. Bryce (44:04.266) yeah yeah it's great she's like i'm gonna go take a shower cut to both of them naked in the shower you're like yep this was written by a 13 year old this is perfect sydney (44:10.705) I'm sorry. sydney (44:14.93) Good though, I didn't see a problem with it. I thought it was great. It was a very long sex scene, but I really loved it. Bryce (44:19.914) Mm -hmm. Max (44:20.346) It was long, it just kept going. sydney (44:23.538) Did not stop. Bryce (44:23.594) So, let's see, I think I have some of these out of order. So it goes back at some point the doctor becomes a detective for some reason and he's investigating this small town because you know he did hear David say that he was attacked by a wolf and he's going to turn into a werewolf and he didn't seem that concerned about it you know he's like well I'm a general doctor like that sounds like a psychiatric disorder so get the fuck out of the hospital please but he goes to this town and starts like Max (44:52.418) Mm -mm. Bryce (45:03.388) investigating and I'm not the one question I have is like why are they so secretive about it like why what is like the reason that they can't talk about the werewolf and the lore of like the pentagram and like what's going on in the town sydney (45:21.873) They probably just don't want to seem crazy or have publicity in the town at all, you know? I don't think that they want to ruin their special little hometown. Because then there would be reporters. Max (45:22.202) I love how - Bryce (45:33.802) Wouldn't you rather have the publicity and like have people come in and kill the werewolf that's ravaging your town? sydney (45:39.76) I mean, they did kill the werewolf, so I don't know why they're so upset about it. I guess because they, I mean, they let the Americans go, and the bartender woman, the owner of the pub, didn't want that to happen, and the men didn't give a fuck. So now it's kind of all of their faults that this is happening, so I guess they just don't wanna talk about it, right? Max (45:40.89) They killed the werewolf already. Bryce (45:59.306) Yeah. Max (46:00.794) I really enjoy the doctor becoming Matthew McConaughey from True Detective. Like he is so like stone cold and like ruthless and like just I'm too smart for all of these guys and I'm gonna outsmart them with my wits. It's fun. Bryce (46:18.666) Yeah. Yeah, I mean, it's it's kind of a weird thing. It's like, why would the doctor care? And like his explanation was like, well, I was in town. So I thought I'd check in. Which is nice. It's good, good 80s movies a lot. 80s movie logic. Because the police are portrayed as being just bumbling fools, basically. sydney (46:24.656) Ahem. sydney (46:36.461) Yeah. sydney (46:41.263) Yeah, oh my God, like they had no idea what to do this entire movie. Like I really love the scene where David realizes that he's like actually a werewolf, because like he doesn't remember when he turns into a werewolf, but then like he finds out that people like died, this is jumping ahead a little bit. And then he like finds a cop in a park and he's like, I killed all those people and he's like, oh my God, like leave me alone. And he's like, No, the queen is a man. The prince is a faggot. Like, oh my god. I was like, I can't say that. I can't say that. I can't say that. Max (47:16.89) She can say that, she can say that, she can say that. sydney (47:24.463) I'm gay! I'm gay! Um... Stop invalidating my sexuality! I know you're kidding. Thank you. Bryce (47:24.714) YouTube algorithm, don't. Max (47:29.274) Half -Gay. Bryce (47:32.49) I'm not gay no more! I don't black men's! Max (47:35.226) I'm just kidding. No, you're you're full gay and full straight sydney (47:42.415) Um, thank you so much. You're so good at the gay stuff. LGBTQ icon ally, Max Allen. Max (47:42.626) otherwise known as Half and Half. Bryce (47:42.632) Oh no. Max (47:51.002) I am a professional. Bryce (47:52.446) Excuse me, LGBTQAI +, please. sydney (47:56.226) Okay, okay. I remember them and I hold them in my heart. Sometimes I just forget that the acronym keeps fucking changing every year. I know, because there's so many, so many gay. But yeah, it was really, it was a really good scene and he's like, just arrest me, arrest me and the cop will not arrest him. So he's like, fuck, well, I'm just gonna kill more people tonight. And then he does. Max (47:57.37) Yeah Sydney. Max (48:03.566) You're a - Bryce (48:05.258) My favorite is the plus. Bryce (48:24.33) So yeah, I mean we're about halfway into the movie and there's a lot of buildup and a lot of like like him not being a werewolf and how they get through that is like having all the dream sequences which is an interesting technique but you're literally like sitting there and they're talking about how he's gonna become a werewolf like for a good quarter of the movie. And you're like, waiting for it. You're like, Oh, it's going to be tonight. Like, what's, when's it going to happen? And then it just cuts to him like, Oh, it like doesn't, it doesn't even have any lead up of him being like, like getting itchy or like getting like irritated. It just like cuts to him. Freaking the fuck out. And then it just. Max (48:56.826) Hehehehe Max (49:08.794) Well, it's so funny because he's sitting there reading a book. He's like. AHHHH Bryce (49:15.242) Yeah. sydney (49:15.407) I'm sorry. Max (49:18.362) Oh gosh, moving that much made me really itchy. Oh. Oh, it's my hands for some reason. Oh, okay. Bryce (49:22.568) itch. sydney (49:22.607) Jesus. Scratch it, scratch it. Bryce (49:28.522) Max, the first step to recovery is remitting you have a problem. Max (49:33.114) I know I have a problem. Bryce (49:35.81) So this transformation scene, I mean this is the part that deserves the most attention. The effects on this transformation sequence are amazing. And they, a couple of things that they do, I mean they have these mechanisms that like pop. this larger spine out of the back and like fill up these balloons and so it looks like his body is completely like distorting and changing inside like a skeletal structure and then the the hair growing is still like the best thing so they sydney (50:10.027) Yeah. Bryce (50:17.722) filmed this, you know, latex skin or whatever and they're, they pull, they have all these hairs going through it and then what they do is they pull the hairs through and then reverse that shot so it looks like the hairs are growing, which is great. And yeah, I mean, all of the like, body changes like the body horror is like, magnifique. sydney (50:34.828) That's really cool. sydney (50:40.652) I miss practical effects. Max (50:46.714) We kind of skipped over a part that I think is really important, which is his best friend who died by the werewolf comes to him as like this dead man and says, hey buddy, I'm gonna need you to kill yourself so that I don't have to spend eternity in limbo. And if you don't kill yourself, yeah, he's like, if you don't kill yourself, I'm gonna suffer forever, so make your choice. Which is a ho - Bryce (50:53.354) uh... yeah that's right sydney (51:05.1) Yeah, he tells him about the wolf's curse. sydney (51:12.076) And it's also funny, because the first time he sees him is when he's in the hospital, and he's like, yeah, a bunch of people came to my funeral, which was really cool. And David's like, yeah, you were well -liked. And he's like, yeah. And then, you know that girl that I was trying to fuck in Italy? She went to my funeral, and she was so sad that she fell into blah, blah, blah's bed. And he was like, no way, it was that guy? I thought that was such a cute little friendship thing that it really showed that this. The guy is actually appearing to him like this isn't a dream. This is like a real thing that David is experiencing. And so as he's more and more of a werewolf, actually transforms and stuff, Jack starts, he's rotting. And so every time you see him, he's more and more of a rotting corpse, which was so effective. Like I was like, oh my God, this is like disgusting. But it was also just like really funny that like every time he sees him, he's like, you gonna kill yourself yet? You gonna do it? You gonna, please? Can you please? I don't know. Max (52:17.85) He's like nice about it too. He's like, I mean, I don't want it to hurt. Like find a way that so it doesn't hurt, but yeah, please kill yourself. Bryce (52:22.538) right yeah there's the direction that john lendis gave him was he should always just be in a good mood and happy when he appears which is a contrast to his appearance because when he first appears in the hospital he's just like freshly mauled and has like skin hanging off of his jowls that's been torn off sydney (52:24.18) Yeah. Bryce (52:44.958) and it looks really cool then the next time he's on he's like all green and decomposed and then in the porno theater he's like literally like a like a skeleton puppet but yeah that's I mean yeah I can't believe we didn't I didn't talk about that with in the hospital but sydney (53:02.89) It's a major part of the film, I think, because then you like, because you kind of just think that he's like appearing to him because he's his friend and he's stuck in limbo. But then once you get to the porno theater scene, it's like, oh, no, all the people that you kill, they're all stuck in limbo and then they all appear and they're like, hey, remember me? Like you should you should drown yourself. You should hang yourself. You should shoot yourself with a gun. Put it in your mouth. That'll be faster. And it's like, wow. Bryce (53:28.17) yeah and they're all very happy about it like they're very cheerful about like oh Max (53:30.874) Mm -hmm. sydney (53:31.516) Oh, it's so good. Like that solidified it. Like it was already a good movie to me. I already loved it. But when we got to that scene, I was like, oh, like people aren't doing it like this anymore. Like they really aren't like. Bryce (53:44.936) Yeah. Max (53:45.53) It really seems like they're all very excited to move on from Limbo. They've accepted their death and they're just like, yeah, as soon as you kill yourself, that would be awesome. Like that would just make everything even better. So do that, please. Bryce (53:56.682) Yeah. Bryce (54:01.578) Yeah. um so the transformation happens like i mean do yourself a favor if you've never watched it like at least watch that on youtube and he goes out and goes on a killing spree uh he kills like this british couple that are trying to surprise their friends and then like they he attacks this businessman in the well no he first like attacks three hobos and then i believe that's the correct term i believe that's the correct term sydney (54:10.78) It's incredible. Bryce (54:32.652) it's I don't know what the correct nomenclature now. Oh, yeah, that's right. He attacks three unhoused people. And, and then he, yeah, the less housed people. And then finally attacks this businessman in the in the London Underground, which is great. Max (54:34.178) Isn't it like? sydney (54:34.472) Unhoused. sydney (54:40.392) Vagabonds. Max (54:41.818) the non -housed. Max (54:47.866) the street people. Bryce (54:58.378) like my favorite part is like him running up the escalator and his dropping his briefcase. I was like, Oh, no, all of his important papers. Like, I was sydney (55:06.004) That was my favorite scene in the movie, besides the one of all the dead people talking to him in the porno theater, because I just thought it was so beautiful, like the chase that you don't really see David as the wolf a lot, but you see this guy scared for his life running, and when he's running up the stairs and you just see all the ad posters behind him, and it's like, oh, I thought that was just so beautiful. It was such a beautiful scene. And... I was like, why is this guy falling? Get up, run. Run for your life. You're such a loser, get up. You could run up the escalator, man. You would get up there faster and then you could get out into broad daylight and then people would know what's happening. But I just love that, I mean, all horror movies do that where they're like, someone's gonna fall and die. That's just what happens. Bryce (55:42.248) Mm -hmm. Bryce (55:48.04) Mm -hmm. Bryce (55:51.882) Yeah. Max (55:55.226) If I was him though... Bryce (55:55.37) It does use the not showing the monster very effectively. It does that in the scene where David and Jack are being attacked too, where it's really effective because it's just shots of them running out in the open in the darkness and it's strangely effective because they just hear this ominous growling in the distance and then close and then they're like, where is it? And similar... sydney (56:04.402) Yeah. Max (56:05.112) Mm -hmm. sydney (56:07.946) Gary. Max (56:20.568) And not showing it during that part actually makes it way scarier because the only time you see the wolf in the opening scene is when he's a man and he's lying dead, naked. And like that image compared to the horrible howling sounds you hear and like the blood everywhere, like it just, you can put a picture together in your mind that's really scary. sydney (56:24.444) Yeah. Bryce (56:42.346) yeah doesn't show the full body it does show the wolf attacking though to show like a wolf head so anyways he he goes on this rampage and then he wakes up naked in the zoo in the wolf pen which is great and uh i need to Max (56:45.946) Oh right, right, yes, it does. sydney (56:55.466) They only filmed that scene one time because he didn't want to get back in the pen with the wolves. Bryce (57:02.718) Do you blame him? Also, like in the trivia talks about how they're filming at the zoo and he's he's like full on naked. And he's like, Why are all these extras here? And the director goes, Oh, no, we were going over time. So the zoo is actually open now. That's the that's literally just the public. Max (57:19.66) D 'oh. sydney (57:21.61) Oh my god. Max (57:24.25) It's not illegal. How do you get around that? Bryce (57:27.498) was covering up you know he had his hands so he's running around the zoo and then he like the it's a great scene he's hiding in a bush and trying to lure a child over to him to steal his balloons and and then another one of my favorite lines as the kid like goes back to his mom just says a naked American man stole my balloons she's like what and uh and then he runs off and he's he like steals someone's coat and like they they put it together that you know he went on a killing spree and he doesn't remember any of it but feels the weight of it and then later yeah he goes into he sees his friend as like a corpse again luring him into this porno theater the name of the porn which i thought was great was see you next wednesday um sydney (58:23.046) Hahaha. Bryce (58:25.866) and uh... sydney (58:26.726) One of my favorite lines of the movie, or might be my favorite line, is when he steals the coat and he's like waiting for the bus and everyone's looking at him weird and he goes, lots of weather we're having lately. Bryce (58:39.818) yeah yeah that's good um and then pretty sydney (58:42.694) But yeah, the porno theater scene is amazing. Like, it's really good. Before that though, he goes to a phone booth and calls home and his little sister answers and he's like, you're alone? I was never allowed to be alone at 10. Like, what the hell? And it was like a classic like brother sister thing. I thought that was really sweet. And he was just like, tell mom and dad that I love him and I love you and I love Max, I think was the name of the boy. And she was like, She must have said something like a little sister would say and he was like, no, I'm just saying I love you, you little creep. Like, and it was really sweet and he just knew that he like had to die soon and then he tries to slit his wrists, but he like couldn't do it. And then that's when he gets lured. Swiss army knife. Max (59:25.178) Well he's using the smallest, dullest blade he could find. It's an inch long. Bryce (59:28.138) Yeah, he's using he's using a Swiss army knife, which is awesome. It's like, OK. sydney (59:33.223) And going this way wouldn't kill you, by the way. Bryce (59:36.81) Right, you gotta follow the track. I mean that's... Max (59:38.938) Okay, let's not put out their information about how to effectively kill yourself. Not everybody, obviously, he didn't know that. sydney (59:43.335) I think people know that. sydney (59:49.191) Well, maybe John Landis didn't know that. But. Max (59:51.386) Also, Bryce cannot be allowed any more information about that topic. We need to. sydney (59:55.847) Okay, you're right. Bryce, don't, you didn't listen to me and you didn't hear that. Oh God. Bryce (59:57.194) as if I haven't researched it. So yeah, his call a little bit of trivia to like his sister's name is Rachel and the mentions her brother Max so Max and Rachel are actually the name of john Landis children. And I don't know if you recognize but Max Landis is actually a director or creator and also has been canceled already. sydney (01:00:26.311) Yeah, I saw a tweet about him the other day. Bryce (01:00:27.018) and probably one of the most cringe -worthy episodes of Red Letter Media was when Max Landis was a guest on it. He's very much... You know, he's just a sex pest, you know? sydney (01:00:34.311) Why is he cancelled? Do you guys know? sydney (01:00:40.295) It says, why did Max Landis get canceled when you Google him? So he was, oh yeah, accusations from several women, emotional and sexual abuse. Yeah, okay, awesome. Max (01:00:45.248) Sex pest. Bryce (01:00:46.634) Mm -hmm. Max (01:00:51.642) Oh... It's really easy to just not do that, in my opinion. Bryce (01:00:53.258) just being a guy you know just just guys are guys you know it happens sydney (01:00:59.047) Stop, just don't say shit like that. People are gonna come after us. He doesn't mean it. Bryce (01:01:06.282) Okay, so yeah, then there we already talked about them brainstorming deaths and then in the theater he transforms again to the werewolf like much less elaborate. sydney (01:01:17.031) And I think some guy thinks he's jerking off because when he's going, uh, uh, uh, like transforming, like a guy walks up to him and he's like staring at him like, and he's like, get away from me. Max (01:01:29.464) That part was weird, I didn't understand that part. Bryce (01:01:34.314) it's it's the craziest all right so we have to talk about porno theaters like this is such a weird concept like it was before my time too where Max (01:01:41.114) Yeah, tell me about it. sydney (01:01:46.375) Yeah, they don't do it anymore, but they used to for a really long time. Bryce (01:01:50.186) yeah there used to be just porno theater because there wasn't internet porn like your options were you buy playboy or a porn mag or you go in person to a theater and watch a movie and like this is before like vhs too so it's like it's not like you could have you had a lot of options so it's like man sydney (01:02:15.495) Like are you literally like, you're like doing that in a theater. Like you're literally like, like those poor workers. I bet people were though. Max (01:02:21.722) I don't think you're allowed to jack off at the theater though. I don't - well - Bryce (01:02:25.226) yeah you're not supposed to you can ask Peewee Herman about that but people did it all the time like it's just like yeah it's a foreground conclusion but yeah i mean it's crazy there was like porn hits there was like Debbie Duds Does Dallas and like Deep Throat were genuine like people were going to see the movie in the theater because it's a popular porno. sydney (01:02:40.903) So weird. sydney (01:02:51.719) Isn't Debbie Does Dallas like the most a woman, like the most men a woman has ever slept with in 24 hours? I think she like beat a record. Bryce (01:03:02.442) No, I doubt that. Not in the age of internet pornography. Max (01:03:04.984) Kelly says in the midwest they still have those theaters. sydney (01:03:08.645) No way. I didn't know that. Bryce (01:03:09.066) That's wild. Well, I mean, yeah, I wonder if they still wouldn't even exist. trucker stops. Yeah. Huh. It just seems so wild to me. Like it's the same thing as like when I hear about like, Oh, yeah, guys actually have circle jerks when they're teenagers. I'm like, there's guys that sit around and masturbate with their friends. I'm like, what? Who are these? Max (01:03:19.564) EW. Max (01:03:27.29) No way. No way, that doesn't happen. sydney (01:03:29.927) They do. They do. They do. And then half of... Max (01:03:34.298) If you have that kind of relationship with your friends, you're not friends, you're gay. Bryce (01:03:37.29) Dude, I would... yeah. sydney (01:03:38.247) No, no, no, you're gay. Like you have, you are closeted and you don't know it. Like I'm not even joking. Like, I mean, maybe not all of them, but like, I mean, there, there is a time where like most people do explore their sexuality. That's how it comes out in certain guys. And then you probably end up gay. Like, I mean, you do like, I'm not even like trying to be funny. Like I'm being dead serious. Like that is like, I don't understand. Like I have literally heard of like men in group chats at like, my age that send pictures of their balls to each other. Like is that something that straight men do? I don't understand. Bryce (01:04:14.058) yeah that seems actually like a pretty straight thing I'm not gonna lie yeah send it Max (01:04:14.298) Well, I mean... sydney (01:04:16.327) Why? Max (01:04:18.33) I mean I've seen I've seen Bryce's a few times it's not that big of a deal. Bryce (01:04:21.514) Yeah, same sending pictures of balls is pretty great. Actually, like, I gotta admit, that's it's not it's not to elicit, like attraction or horniness. It's literally like, it's like, that's just a horrifying thing to send to your friend. You know, it's like if you took a picture of your asshole and send it to, like your friend, your friend group, because you're it's just violence. It's sydney (01:04:25.959) What do you mean? Max (01:04:33.722) It's actually to elicit the opposite. sydney (01:04:45.927) Okay, I guess I don't understand that. No, I guess so. Bryce (01:04:49.866) No, you have a lot to learn about men, Sydney. If it was a dick pic, if like you if you're sending like full on erections to your bros like yeah, that's not Max (01:05:04.186) Well, it depends. sydney (01:05:07.503) Excuse me! Max (01:05:09.262) know it no it depends if I I mean some guys are just bad at taking pictures sometimes you just want to say hey what do you think about this one Bryce (01:05:10.218) Go on. Go on. Bryce (01:05:19.53) I'm thinking about sending this to a stranger on Snapchat. Is this a good angle, bro? Max (01:05:23.258) Ha ha. Max (01:05:27.77) Okay, listen, guys especially need to hear this. Lighting is important, the angle's important. lots of grooming, you can make it look great. Just... Bryce (01:05:43.754) I can't sydney (01:05:44.167) I don't think you need lots of grooming. I think that that is a myth. But... Max (01:05:47.162) Well, okay, I personally enjoy a little bit of groom. sydney (01:05:53.767) Hmm hmm hmm hmm. Bryce (01:05:53.962) okay this is this is where i feel old because i can't fathom sending a dick pic to anyone like i can't like that's that's a that's like the most horrifying like i need to save that horror for like the night where we consummate our love for the first time like no you love me Max (01:06:01.754) No, I can't either. I've been joking. I've, I couldn't. sydney (01:06:02.085) Okay. Bryce (01:06:17.482) this is what you've gotten into and it's too late this is happening that's what i did with my wife on our wedding night and you know she's trapped she can't leave anymore sydney (01:06:21.255) It's so funny, because like, yeah. sydney (01:06:28.455) But like, it's so funny, because in high school and in college, like, literally I would get a Snapchat from someone I haven't heard from in a while, I'd be like, oh, I wonder what this is, oh, penis. Like, what the hell do you think? Like, and you think of like unsolicited dick pics as being like this funny internet thing, no, no it happens. I mean, it doesn't happen to me anymore. I've been in a relationship for almost a year and a half, and you know, all of the... Bryce (01:06:38.152) Hmm. sydney (01:06:55.451) dick pics I receive are solicited. But it's like, I don't understand where you get the confidence to do that. And it's never like something you want to see. It's like the worst thing you've ever seen in your life. And so it's like. Max (01:06:55.77) Now they're just solicited. Yeah. Bryce (01:07:11.178) It's, I mean, it's such a contrast. Max (01:07:11.994) Well, if they had better lighting, if they had better lighting and a better angle and a little bit of groom. Bryce (01:07:15.21) Yeah, I mean... sydney (01:07:18.087) Yeah. Bryce (01:07:21.418) Well, first of all, Sydney, post your Snapchat, you'll get all of those and more that you want. And second of all, like it's, it's really interesting the contrast between like how welcome scene and erect penis is to anyone versus how welcome scene boobs is to anyone. Like I would welcome. Yeah. Yeah. They're great. They're beautiful. sydney (01:07:24.903) I really am not gonna do that. Like... sydney (01:07:41.575) Even straight women wanna see boobs. Even gay men wanna see boobs. Like, yeah, they are, they are. Bryce (01:07:49.162) like in all shapes and sizes like I'll post my Snapchat listeners send me your send me your tip pics I will not send you my dick pic Max (01:07:56.002) No, don't. Bryce, you're gonna get yourself in trouble. You're gonna go down a dark path here. Next thing you know when people, next thing people know. sydney (01:07:59.271) Don't do that! Oh my god, no, don't send any of us nudes, please. Bryce (01:08:03.786) oh yes i've never i've never seen anyone's breasts other than my wife's like sure Max (01:08:10.65) No, I'm just saying the next thing you know, people are gonna be typing in Bryce Hansen on Google and the first thing that pops up is why did Bryce Hansen get canceled? And it's because he was asking his listeners for nudes, okay? Bryce (01:08:23.818) Well, see what's going to happen if I asked for if I posted my Snapchat, which I don't even know I have anymore. I'm not even sure I could sign into it. If I posted that and said like, Hey, send me tip picks. Guarantee you I'd get 50 dick pics and not a single tip pick. Yeah. So anyways, yeah. sydney (01:08:37.863) Probably, yes. That makes a lot of sense. Please don't send any of us anything that is your naked body. We are all in relationships and I'll love our partners very much. Thank you. Stop! Enough! Max (01:08:38.746) That's actually facts. Bryce (01:08:50.154) Right. It's OK. You can send me tippix. It's OK. Max (01:08:50.97) That's true. Bryce (01:08:57.738) I think we actually had a contest of like sending like cleavage pics or something like that and there was there was like there was a good entry I gotta say and they put horror movie talk stickers over their nips like thank you so much but also there was men that send in them topless more of the men sending in pictures of them topless which we elicited as well so sydney (01:09:03.655) I remember that. I do remember that. Bryce (01:09:26.538) you know, it's where equal equal opportunity tits in this anyway. So yeah, he transforms into a werewolf again. And then just the end of the movie just as is chaos. Like he attacks just the streets of London in like sydney (01:09:26.743) I'm sorry. Oh my god. Max (01:09:33.242) I'm starting to disassociate again. sydney (01:09:37.031) Where are we in the movie? Max (01:09:42.874) It's a great scene. sydney (01:09:43.175) Yeah, this is what I said in the beginning when I paused it was right when he had turned into a werewolf and it literally said 18 minutes left and I was like, oh my God, this movie's almost over. I feel like I just started watching it and I feel like I could, if anything could be a three hour movie it would be this. I would be happy with that. It would be, but it also makes it really good that it's not, that it's a 140 kind of thing. It is. Max (01:10:06.298) I think it's perfect length. It's perfect how it is. Bryce (01:10:08.136) Yeah, it's it's perfect. And it ends very suddenly. He's just like, Oh, well, this is the rampage scene. And he's going on a rampage in downtown London. And then he shot and that's, that's it. Like end of movie by which is just a great thing because it doesn't overstay its welcome. Like these horror these werewolf movies. There's not a lot to work with. It's literally like you want to see a werewolf transform into a werewolf. And then you want to see it kill some people. And that's all you want. sydney (01:10:13.607) I know. Bryce (01:10:36.906) There's not a lot more to work with there. Max (01:10:38.554) Yeah, I think if they wanted to go the emotional route, they could have had him kill himself like just before going on a rampage, which I think would have had an emotional impact on me. But, uh, this is great too. I mean, it is absolute chaos. It is truly like the evils of a small town being thrust upon a big city. And it's just, no one knows what to do. They're all just being torn apart. Cars are coming out of nowhere and hitting people and. And and the way the the wolf looks is perfect. It's so cool. It's the best werewolf I've ever seen sydney (01:11:11.751) It's so amazing. And I really do like the final, final scene. It does end very suddenly. I thought there might have been like a, you know, I don't remember the term for what happens after the end of the denouement or something. I might be wrong. That's why they knew more. Maybe I don't, maybe that's the beginning of a movie. I don't know. But yeah, it's just like the cops are all lined up to shoot. And then the nurse, what was her name? Bryce (01:11:28.394) denouement. Max (01:11:29.53) Denuma. sydney (01:11:44.96) Do you remember? Alex, yes. Alex runs in between the cops and knocks a bunch of them over, which I thought was so funny. And then she's like, David, David, come here, come here, I love you. And when she says, I love you, his wolf expression changes. He really recognizes what's happening. And then he comes after her, and then that's when he gets shot. And then it's just the naked body of David on the ground. Boom, done, end of movie. Max (01:11:45.018) Alex. Bryce (01:11:45.29) um tits mcgee um oh alex yes Bryce (01:12:14.474) Yeah. sydney (01:12:14.496) Good ending, good ending, like. Max (01:12:16.442) Well, here's the one thing I didn't understand is earlier on in the movie, he's talking with Alex and he says something along the lines of, I think a werewolf can only be killed by someone who loves them. And then to me, I thought that was gonna be foreshadowing of, oh, she's gonna have to kill him in the end, but the police just kill him. So I thought that was kind of an odd thing to throw in there if they weren't gonna pay off on it. sydney (01:12:41.246) Mm -hmm. Bryce (01:12:45.19) Well, maybe that's just leaving them open to a sequel. sydney (01:12:49.024) And they did do a sequel. Max (01:12:49.274) Well there is a sequel. Bryce (01:12:51.562) yeah there's i think it was in the 90s american werewolf in paris i don't know sydney (01:12:55.744) Is it good? Has anyone seen it? Max (01:12:57.978) I think Kelly said it was good. Someone mentioned in the chat that it was good. Bryce (01:13:05.418) American Werewolf in Paris that has a 5 .1 on on IMDB. So not great starring Tom Everett Scott. sydney (01:13:10.176) Okay. Max (01:13:16.154) It was decent good music she says. sydney (01:13:19.328) Okay. Oh, Julie Delpy is in it. That's nice. Bryce (01:13:19.594) Yeah. Bryce (01:13:24.01) so yeah who oh yeah i mean also like the the werewolf design and this is is a quadruped which is a nice change of pace for werewolf movies normally they're bipedal but yeah the the werewolf design is just more like a hell wolf which is cool um all right well who would you recommend this to or who do you think would like this movie sydney (01:13:34.016) Yes. Max (01:13:34.874) Yes. sydney (01:13:48.72) Everyone, anyone, like literally if you don't even watch horror movies, like I think that this would be a good one because there are a couple of like jump scares. There are a couple of things where you don't know what's going on that like adds to the plot. Like I think that this movie is just incredible and I think that everyone should watch it honestly. It's great. Max (01:13:50.01) Mm -hmm. Max (01:14:08.312) Yeah, it's really good. I'd be hard pressed to find someone I wouldn't recommend it to. I wouldn't recommend it to my mom. That's about it. sydney (01:14:16.32) My mom also hates horror movies, so probably wouldn't recommend it to her either, but I'm assuming she's seen it. But, I don't know. Bryce (01:14:23.85) um... you know the uncomfortable to watch with your mom with all the tits in it uh... you know if your mom's cool Max (01:14:27.896) Yep. Max (01:14:33.176) If your mom's rad. Bryce (01:14:35.146) Yeah, if your mom is Dr. Rad, the dentist. All right, well, let's move on. This is going to be an experiment. I know we have five people in the audience from who are our patrons. And this is something that we'll see if we... sydney (01:14:40.164) But um. sydney (01:14:53.662) Hello guys. Bryce (01:14:56.586) if it works out well and then maybe we'll open it up to a larger audience honestly the thing i'm worried about mostly is just the stability of the recording but new bit called horror movie chat lines and um sydney (01:15:06.784) Right. Max (01:15:14.138) So, that thing I'm afraid of is, is it going to save their recordings? Bryce (01:15:20.49) it should uh... Max (01:15:21.882) Because for us, we can't leave the recording until everything is properly saved. So like, obviously we can't decide when they leave. They leave when they wanna leave, so. sydney (01:15:32.736) Well, if they pop back into the audience, then it probably will save. So. Bryce (01:15:37.014) Yeah. So like if you're if you're on the line, please just stick around for like, just a half a minute to let it let it Oh, shit. I'm trying. Yeah, I'm trying to do some. Max (01:15:39.064) Okay. Max (01:15:49.242) let it save, let it upload. I mean, I don't even know if you need to do that, but just in case. sydney (01:15:51.392) I'm gonna ask who wants to come in. Yeah, who wants to come in? Just put it in the chat and we'll pop you in. Bryce (01:16:00.01) Uhhhh trying to get a theme song here. Here we go. So to play us in here's horror movie chat lines. Bryce (01:16:43.442) Horror movie chat lines, we're in for a fright. Okay, so experiment, everyone in the audience, yeah, what you do, Max, can you tell them what they're supposed to do? Max (01:16:52.89) There should be a button that says request call in or something like that. Click that and then we should be able to see your request. Bryce (01:16:58.376) Mm -hmm. Bryce (01:17:04.746) Yeah, call just say you want to call in. It'll probably say something like, you know, type out your question or whatever. We just want to talk to you. If you got a question, if you've got an observation about American werewolf in London, it's talking about London, right? Max (01:17:25.338) no button on mobile they say interesting sydney (01:17:27.616) Okay, so if you don't see the button, then just tell us that you want to commit. Bryce (01:17:35.018) Can I? Max (01:17:35.034) Are we able to just poll people? Bryce (01:17:38.73) I don't know is everyone on mobile. Bryce (01:17:47.21) I think we might have like lost some people anyways. Max (01:17:51.098) No, we still have five people here. sydney (01:17:52.448) It still says five. but. Bryce (01:17:56.842) five people in the audience. I wonder if we can... Max (01:17:59.066) Oh no. I didn't expect this. No one wants to join. Bryce (01:18:03.498) I'm not surprised to be honest. I know who Sure. sydney (01:18:08.766) Want me to go get my roommate or something? Max (01:18:12.826) Yeah, we need to like test this out. My house is noisy right now. Wife is on the treadmill. You should just call anyways to make sure it works. We just want to make sure it works. Bryce (01:18:18.154) Oh come on, just call in. Please. We're desperate. sydney (01:18:20.128) Who cares? Just say hi. sydney (01:18:25.696) What's that? Max (01:18:26.586) Zack, Zack, Zack, Zack. Bryce (01:18:27.914) Zach Zach Zach Biggin said he was coming on I wonder if he's on I can't see the list of people that are in the room it just says five people Max (01:18:36.058) I know if they don't type it doesn't show us their name unfortunately. sydney (01:18:36.256) Me neither. Bryce (01:18:47.164) this is riveting pod Max (01:18:52.612) We will have to cut some of this out. I'm thinking Bryce (01:18:52.746) I'll tell you what. What? Why? Max (01:18:58.13) Oh. Bryce (01:19:03.21) Alright, well everyone just say who's here. So we know Kelly's here, we know Zach's here. Someone... sydney (01:19:06.784) Someone left. Max (01:19:09.178) Someone did just leave. Oh wait, no, someone just joined. sydney (01:19:13.248) Oh wait, no, someone came back. Okay. Bryce (01:19:14.888) Oh, maybe they're coming back on the computer. sydney (01:19:17.216) Oh, okay. I tried. Bryce (01:19:19.274) I tried. Didn't work. Max (01:19:23.556) Uh oh... We failed them. sydney (01:19:23.84) All right, maybe this was. Bryce (01:19:29.93) Okay. sydney (01:19:30.624) Literally, I could literally text my roommate. Max (01:19:33.402) Yeah, what if I leave and try to join? Bryce (01:19:36.586) Oh, he doesn't have a camera. sydney (01:19:38.72) Oh, you really need a camera? That sucks. Hold on. What is this? Bryce (01:19:42.762) Hmm. Bryce (01:19:50.314) yeah i mean it's nice having the chat in here or while we're doing it but we were hoping to do colons sydney (01:19:53.834) It is nice. Kelly, just come on and say hi. Max (01:19:54.17) It is nice. Max (01:20:00.154) Yes, do that. Bryce (01:20:01.642) I should have told David to jump on. That would have been the smart thing to do. sydney (01:20:03.584) Oh my god. He's probably watching this right now anyways. He's probably one of the people. David! Bryce (01:20:09.162) No, he's got... I have no button. sydney (01:20:13.632) Oh, right, right. You said that. Sorry. Max (01:20:16.378) Are you sure? Check all around. sydney (01:20:21.6) This stinks. Bryce (01:20:21.832) all right well let's just consider this a failed experiment and uh... sydney (01:20:27.296) It is nice having the audience though, I mean... Max (01:20:27.578) I'm so disappointed. Bryce (01:20:30.442) yeah it is nice i think we could probably do it for the wider audience and then see if there's probably a more more of a likelihood that people will actually uh... join especially if we like publicize it sydney (01:20:41.28) James was in here too. Max (01:20:44.602) Oh yeah. Bryce (01:20:46.666) Um... sydney (01:20:47.168) Steam Deck and it gets angry. That's weird. I mean, this is I guess there's a lot of bugs in this. Sorry, guys. That stinks. Max (01:20:55.418) We will try again. We'll get this to work. Bryce (01:20:59.786) you would do we want to wait Zach can you try again like right now or yeah everyone yeah we need someone on computer with a camera and a mic but sydney (01:21:05.472) Yeah, definitely need someone on a computer. But that's okay. God damn. I mean, you don't really need a mic, you just need a camera. Because it doesn't matter what the quality would be. Bryce (01:21:18.436) Yeah. sydney (01:21:21.556) yet. Bryce (01:21:21.706) Well, this was horror movie chat line. Bryce (01:21:33.898) Okay sydney (01:21:35.904) I would ask my boyfriend, but he doesn't own a computer, so. Bryce (01:21:40.97) He doesn't own a computer. Max (01:21:42.028) Is he an unhomed? sydney (01:21:44.832) No, no, he just, he's a chef. So like, there's just like, he just doesn't like need a computer. Like he just doesn't, yeah, I'm pretty sure, yeah, neither him or nor his roommate have computers. They just, I mean, they have TVs and phones, but like, I know, I know it is. No. He just vibes. He's cooking. Bryce (01:21:44.84) Is he unhoused? Max (01:21:53.114) Just no time for that internet stuff. He's always cooking. Bryce (01:22:03.594) that's wild. Not even a tablet. Max (01:22:11.514) He's cooking too much. Bryce (01:22:13.226) All right. Well, let's let's thank everyone for coming on the live and chatting with us. sydney (01:22:18.464) Yeah, thank you. You guys seem to like it. Max (01:22:30.842) Thank you to those people and the other people who didn't chat but just hung out. sydney (01:22:35.584) This was fun. Like, I really enjoyed the commentary on the side and we could play off of that. That was good. Bryce (01:22:35.69) Yeah. Bryce (01:22:42.57) uh... we'll try it again uh... in the future maybe give it a give it a a good uh... you know promotion in facebook and and uh... we'll see how it goes at the very least the chat helps and i think people would come on i mean you get early access to a full episode you can see all the the uh... you know the blemishes and the scars of recording a live episode uh... sydney (01:23:08.096) And also when we promote it to like the Facebook group or something, like we can say, if you want to join, you need a computer with a webcam. Bryce (01:23:15.722) Yeah. And yeah, I mean, it's 830 Pacific usually ends up being okay ish for for East Coast.
