Episode 04 - How To: Start Meditating, with Justyn Comer

Justyn Comer was first taught to meditate by an Anglican Priest in the the UK as part of his confirmation training. He then studied in a variety of monasteries across India before doing his undergraduate degree in Theology and Religious Studies at Cambridge University in England. He had a twenty year career as a management consultant on Wall Street before starting to teach meditation full time. He has been practicing meditation for over thirty years and teaching since 1999. He co-founded RWM Education Inc., a non-profit dedicated to making meditation available to as many people as possible (https://realworldmeditation.org). His first book on the subject, 'Meditation for Life', was published in 2018 by Panoma Press. In this episode, John and Justyn explore what took him from Wall Street to meditation teacher, why meditation can help significantly improve your life and how to get started with a simple, effective practice.

Hi, I’m John, and we have something in common: a mind…

Six years ago I unexpectedly hit a major mental brick wall. I had no idea what it was or how to deal with it. Ever since I’ve been on a journey to learn all about the mind and how to manage it.

Through therapy, talking circles, deep (deep) conversation, mindfulness meditation, spirituality, personal research and much more besides, I’m fascinated with how people maintain their mental wellbeing.

Join me as I explore what it is we can do in the minutes, hours, days, months and years that make up our extraordinary lives to stay motivated, engaged and at peace with the world we live in.

John is a father, husband, co-founder of the mental wellbeing collective The Men Who:, ambassador for the Joshua Nolan Foundation and constant source of curiosity.
