John and Reagan both agree democrats would not be wiped out at every level of government - and would be the majority party in power - if they eschewed their corporate paymasters and offered people material improvements to their lives such as Medicare for All, a $15 federal minimum wage, and quantitative easing for student debtors. On migrants, Reagan thinks support for incoming foreigners must include labor solidarity and opposition to imperialism; otherwise, professed support for such groups is window-dressing. In the second half, John and Reagan talk query letters and their challenges pitching fiction.
