In this episode, we talk with Dhanesh, who runs our most favourite hangout spot in the city: Terrassen Cafe; which also serves great Vegan food. We journey with Dhanesh back to where he started, baking breads in an alternative school, and then come back to the present to sip some lovely almond milk lattes. This has been one of the cosiest podcasts we’ve recorded yet; fitting, considering it’s exactly how the cafe feels. In another episode, we’ll also cover the Irani cafes which have reared us, but today listeners, and yes, this means you chicken-biryani lovers too, come with us to this lovely hideout called Terrassen.
We’re not the first one’s here, and likely not to be the last. Here’s the Hindu covering them way back in 2016: https://www.thehindu.com/features/metroplus/Once-upon-a-vegan/article15616717.ece
And again in 2018: https://www.thehindu.com/life-and-style/food/hyderabads-vegan-eatery-terrassen-caf-introduces-home-style-favourites-in-its-new-address/article25390107.ece More recently in 2020, Zomato has covered Terrassen in its piece on Hyderabad being the most Vegan friendly city in India: https://www.zomato.com/hyderabad/sauce/meet-hyderabads-growing-vegan-community--7310906e-3089-11ea-af25-02429a7178f2
