48. From Master Chef to World Central Kitchen (w/Grace Ramirez. Part 1)

This week on the podcast - Grace Ramirez, Chef Grace, the first Venezuelan-American on the show.

She has written books and hosted TV shows, all around the world. She started her career on season one of Master Chef and for the last few years, she has been actively working with Chef Jose Andres’s World Central Kitchen. First, in Puerto Rico in 2017, then the Bahamas and Venezuela, and for the last year - New York. 

During the pandemic, the organization has helped prevent over 250 restaurants in NY from closing and delivered over 9 million meals. The City of New York has recognized Chef Grace Ramirez as a Covid-19 hero. 

In this first part of the conversation we talk about Grace’s childhood in Venezuela, her having to leave right after high school because of a dictatorship taking over, her career as a TV producer, and her first steps in the food industry.
