Try for a second to imagine a life without mothers... I know, it's virtually impossible, right? I mean, there's just something about their ability to recreate life, see around corners, and give the best advice that makes "life without them" unfathomable. This is part of the reason why I couldn't pass up the opportunity to have mothers be the topic of discussion for the first Episode of the In The Lab Podcast Show.
Give a tribute to my phenomenal mother a mothers all over the globe.
Encourage listeners to reflect on the unforgettable memories they have of their mothers.
For me, those 3 words would have to be:
Without a doubt, my mom is the 'churchiest' person I know, and I love her for it.
Growing up, she was committed to making sure my brother and I were raised in a spiritual environment where ethics and morals were not only taught but witnessed firsthand.
By no means was she perfect –no one is–but I commend her for doing an incredible job of not only talking the talk, but walking the walk.
Back then I didn't always like going to church 3 times a week or having to read the Bible and pray every night, but now that I'm older, I'm extremely grateful for her spiritual guidance.
Like many mothers, my mom is extremely discerning and protective of both herself and her household. There isn't much that you can sneak under my mom's nose and get away with it.
Also, there wasn't much that upset her more than hearing that someone influenced or misled her children into doing something that could harm us or wasn't in our best interest. Many of her lectures were focused on protecting us from the ways of manipulative people and learning how to smell when something was fishy.
To this day, I can still hear my mom's voice say, "Be led by this spirit", in various situations where wise judgement is needed. Even though we're far a part, I guess you can say that she's still protecting me from miles away.
As of today, I'm letting it be know that sacrifice my mother's middle name.
Since we'd be here for days if I tried to mention all the ways she has sacrificed over the years, I'll be respectful of your time and just mention the way that stands out the most, besides giving birth.
I really didn't recognize it until I older, but the way my mom handled raising two sons that played multiple sports was nothing short of remarkable. From traveling to and from games and practices, to nursing hurt bodies and egos, to she handled it all in a great supportive fashion.
Mothers, let me first start by saying, "Thank you for all that you do".
As a man with no children of my own, I'm not going to pretend to know what's like to be a mother. However, I'll be the first to recognize how important and impactful your job is to the entire world.
No matter how dark or discouraging it may get on your motherhood journey, just know that every sacrifice, disciplinary act, and tear shed will never be in vain.
So regardless of your personal parenting situation, know that you are greatly valued and appreciated.
