Dominate your niche with Local SEO

Local search marketing  is the process and tactics you use to reach your local audience online. This is the type of marketing that brick-and-mortar businesses use to reach potential customers on the web.

Any type of business with a storefront or service area is a local business, including small, medium, and enterprise level brands.

Local search marketing is all about raising brand awareness in a certain area. This can be done through organic SEO or paid methods.

Search Engine Land defines search engine optimization as the “process of getting traffic from the “free,” “organic,” “editorial” or “natural” search results on search engines.” To be more specific, search engine optimization is the process of improving your website both on-page and off-page to help it appear higher in organic searches and to be more discoverable.

The majority of searches happen on one search engine, Google. They get about 75% of search engine market share overall, and 90% of mobile searches. Over 3.5 billion searches happen on Google every day. That is an insane amount of searches a day.

So how does Google work? Google uses an algorithm called Pagerank. Pagerank originally worked by taking the number of keywords on the page as well as other domains pointing to you as a signal that the content on your website was good.

You may ask, what do I mean by “pointing”. Websites will often link to other websites. When a website links or points to your website then it tells Google that your website is approving the content of that link. When several websites link to your website then you will go up in the search rankings.

The Relevance of your Business Online sets the tone

Your customer hops onto their computer or mobile device, they start plugging away on Google Search or Google Maps for what they are looking for.  Do you feel what they are typing in will pull up your business? Knowing what Google Keywords to use will certainly help out, but that’s not the whole picture.

What content online would make Google think of you when they create their list of possible matches your customer will choose from.  Sit there a minute and really think about it, is your business relevant to the search? If you are a roofing company, think about your online presence and what may promote the fact that you are the best option?

If you are an eye care practice, nothing changes, what do YOU have online that will make Google believe that that’s what you do AND you’re the best choice? There is no limit to the amount of areas you can jump into in order to become more relevant.
