When I gave my life to Jesus Christ, I had a deep desire to get baptized. So I approached a pastor I knew to see if he would do me the honor of baptizing me. He told me that I was required to become a member of a church in order to be baptized. I immediately wondered what made this pastor think he could give himself authority over God to withhold salvation from a true believer? Today I examine the issue of attaching baptism to church memberships and whether this is truly biblical.
