Welcome back to Innovation in Industry, the podcast where River Tamoor Baig, CEO of Hack Partners, interviews the leaders of the world's transport and infrastructure industries on the innovation and digitalisation needed to support our growing world.

In this episode, River is joined by Sarah Owen-Vandersluis, Head of Strategy, Government and Infrastructure at KPMG. They discuss the need for dramatic improvements to EV infrastructure and the differences between the planning in urban and rural areas in order to support the population movement to full electrification.

Sarah leads our advice to transport authorities on the future of Mobility (including Autonomous Vehicles, Ultra-Low & Zero Emission Vehicles and Mobility as a Service), with a particular focus on transport authority strategy, implications for infrastructure and services, and development of business cases for new initiatives. Sarah has over 15 years’ experience advising public sector organisations on strategic options, development of commercial business plans, diversification of income streams, pricing, identification of operating efficiencies and development of partnerships between the public and private sector. Prior to joining KPMG, Sarah worked in M&A for Ford Motor Company, in the US and the UK. This included development of business plans and governance structures for two significant technology joint ventures. She also led new vehicle pricing for the UK market. Alongside her role at KPMG Sarah is a regular lecturer for the London School of Economics on new market development and public/private collaboration.

KPMG are sponsoring Hack Partners latest hackathon InfraHack, where they are part of pushing change and innovation in the infrastructure industry - part of that being around the EV infrastructure problems Sarah discusses here.
