From the Berkshars to the sound from

0:04

wherever you live in MLB America.

0:06

This is inside the Parker.

0:08

You give us twenty two minutes and we'll give

0:10

you the scoop on major League Baseball.

0:13

Now here's Baseball Hall of

0:15

Fame voter number seventy, Rob

0:18

Parker.

0:20

Welcome into the podcast. I'm your host,

0:22

Rob Parker. What a great show we have

0:24

for you today. Ryan Kenny,

0:27

Yes BK from MLB Network

0:29

and his show MLB Now, joins

0:32

us. He'll break down some numbers, talk

0:34

about some teams, plus foul

0:36

a fair, let's go.

0:41

Better up to lead off, it's getting

0:43

robbed, and keep them on. Rob's hot

0:46

take on the three biggest stories in Major

0:48

League Baseball. Number

0:51

one.

0:52

I know I'm gonna sound crazy,

0:55

but I'm still going to pick the

0:58

Texas Rangers to win the AL

1:00

West. And it's not just

1:02

because I made the pick before the season started,

1:06

and I get it. Their bullpen

1:08

is god awful. Just think about

1:10

this. Coming into Wednesday,

1:14

the Texas bullpen had blown more

1:16

saves twenty five than

1:18

they had converted I mean

1:20

twenty four. What are

1:22

the chances of that that a team with a

1:25

shaky bullpen leaky bullpen

1:27

can win a division. It doesn't happen

1:29

very often. But I do like

1:31

the pieces parts of this team. And

1:34

yes, Jacob deGrom went down and got

1:36

hurt, but they added Shures.

1:39

I love the middle of the infield. I love

1:42

Simeon, I love Seeger. It's

1:45

a good team. They can score, they can mash,

1:49

and they've been able to weather the storm.

1:51

I get it. People love the

1:53

Maritors, They're hot. People respect

1:56

the Astros. They've been there, done that.

1:58

You know, they won the World Sea a year ago.

2:01

But the Rangers, I like what they did in the offseason

2:05

the last couple of years. They decided we're

2:07

going for We got a brand new ballpark.

2:10

You know, we really are looking to try to win,

2:12

to go out and get a big time manager and Boots

2:15

Bochie. I mean, this is real deal.

2:17

I like the Rangers. I think they

2:19

hold on. I think they win

2:22

the division and I'm

2:24

gonna stick with them the rest of the year. Number

2:26

two jose L two Bay,

2:29

the Houston Astro second baseman,

2:32

just hit for the cycle on Monday night. Not

2:34

too many people have done it, the first Astro to

2:36

do it in ten years. Only

2:38

three hundred and forty four players

2:41

have done it in the history of baseball, so

2:43

it's a very unique club. But

2:46

jose L Twove has made some

2:48

baseball history as well. Where

2:51

a couple of weeks ago he got his two thousand

2:53

hit and get

2:56

this, he had the fewest

2:58

games ever in the history of baseball to

3:00

get two thousand hits, two hundred

3:03

home runs, and two hundred stolen bases.

3:05

You ready for the other names? Right

3:07

under him is Willy Mays

3:10

and under him Alex Rodriguez,

3:13

our Tuvey in baseball history, fewer

3:16

games to get two

3:19

thousand hits, two hundred home runs, two undrestolen

3:21

base than Willy Mays. And

3:23

yet you wonder, with all the things he's

3:25

accomplished, will

3:27

that scandal in Houston,

3:30

in that video of him with the

3:32

thing taped to his chest that

3:34

felt like it was some sort of buzzard that alerted

3:37

him about pitches, Will that

3:39

allow people to understand or recognize

3:42

and give them all the credit for his

3:44

career? Or will that always tainked

3:46

him? Will people not look

3:49

at these numbers and be impressed

3:51

and still wonder how much of it is real

3:54

and how much of it is memoracks or fake

3:56

or phony or whatever you want to call it, but

4:00

al Tuove continues, this guy

4:02

has been a tremendous player. Too

4:04

bad, there's some question marks and this will

4:07

you know, maybe we'll follow him

4:10

as he continues his career and makes

4:12

his push to the Hall of.

4:13

Fame number three.

4:15

Obviously, there's still a lot of baseball

4:17

to go as we get ready to enter September.

4:20

But if the season ended today,

4:24

here would be your matchups. In

4:26

the American League. The Orioles

4:28

and the Rangers would both have boys. Think

4:31

of that before the season started, that the

4:33

Orioles and Rangers would have buys.

4:36

The Astros would be the sixth seed and

4:38

face the number three seed Twins in

4:42

the Wildcard series, and the

4:44

Mariners would be at the Rays

4:47

five versus four in another

4:49

wildcard series matchup just

4:52

missed out would have been the Blue Jays three and

4:54

a half games out of the wild card spot.

4:56

Obviously the Yankees wouldn't

4:59

make it, so that

5:01

just pretty darn interesting there.

5:05

Let's go to the National League. If

5:07

the season ended, the Braids would be

5:09

the number one seed, the Dodgers would be number

5:12

two. Both would have buys.

5:14

The number six seed would be the San

5:17

Francisco Giants. I don't think I thought

5:19

they would make the playoffs this year against

5:21

the number three seed Brewers, and

5:25

the Cubs will have

5:27

made it in at the number five seed against

5:30

the Phillies, another

5:32

team the Cubs. Who would have thought

5:34

that the Cubs would make the playoffs. Teams

5:37

missing out, the d Backs

5:40

who had a great start to the season, what

5:42

about the Reds that caught

5:44

fire with Elie de la Cruz and

5:46

everybody thought they were steaming

5:49

their way into the playoffs. And the

5:51

Marlins who played well for most of the season

5:53

they will have fallen back. And of

5:55

course again the New York New

5:57

York thing, the Mets team

6:00

that won one hundred and one games a year ago, no

6:03

playoffs. And the Padres

6:05

another team that people thought,

6:08

you know, with the signing of Boguarts

6:11

from the Red Sox getting

6:14

tattoos junior back, people

6:16

penciled on them inn not only as a playoff

6:19

team but maybe in the World Series. But they

6:21

would be out as well. Still

6:23

a month ago, nothing set in stone,

6:25

but very interesting happenings. This

6:27

is a different year in baseball, different teams.

6:30

Teams we didn't expect to make the postseason

6:33

look like they're gonna make it.

6:36

Here comes the big interview, Listen

6:39

and learn.

6:40

It's so good. Now

6:42

let's welcome into the podcast. He is the

6:44

host of MLB Now on

6:47

MLB Network, the one and only Brian

6:49

Kenny BK. What's up? Welcome

6:52

to the podcast, BK.

6:54

Now, I'm your guest. So you

6:56

got here? We go

6:58

the whole New ball game.

7:00

No doubt about it. And yes I'm

7:02

on Brian's show every Thursday.

7:04

Love to do the showdown

7:07

segment every Thursday with you. So here we

7:09

are. It'll be great. Uh b K. Let's

7:11

get right into it. The Al

7:13

West before the season started, I

7:16

pick the Texas Rangers. I love

7:18

the ground signing and all we wound up

7:20

getting hurt. But where are you? It's a

7:22

three way tie out in Al West? Who do

7:24

you like?

7:26

You know? I think it's it's kind of a crap shoot. I

7:29

was actually I was at the Rangers and Mets

7:31

last night. Uh they're

7:33

they're pretty good. They're better than I thought.

7:35

I would admit I didn't really believe

7:37

in them, But I guess I kind of underestimated

7:40

a lot of these contributions and a lot of the of

7:42

the guys that Chris Young traded

7:45

for. That kind of

7:47

you know, jonah Heim, guys

7:49

like that, that, Dane Dunning, the

7:51

guys that are were you

7:53

know, Nate Lowe, guys who were like a little

7:55

under the radar as

7:58

compared to the big stars. Because I'm I'm

8:00

a big fan of buying what

8:02

I call the aircraft carriers, which

8:04

is what they did, Like, let's plunge big money

8:07

into these guys, the big long term contracts.

8:10

I'm not a fan of that. So, you

8:13

know, I think they're good. I think that

8:15

the Mariners are as balanced as anyone. They've

8:17

got a very deep rotation. There's only

8:19

four clubs that have four league

8:21

average guys in their rotation, guys who are pitching,

8:23

you know, at a park just to dra above league average,

8:27

and they're one of them. So I think

8:29

it's kind of a dead heat. And I don't put as much

8:31

stock into that. The Astros

8:33

are championship proven and

8:36

all this. I've never been big on that.

8:38

I know its somewhat exists, but I think in

8:40

the era of you know, multiple tiered

8:43

playoff baseball, it's not as big as it used

8:45

to be. So I think it's wide open.

8:47

If I had to pick somebody now, I think the Mariners

8:49

might be the best team, but not by much.

8:52

How about you talked about the Rangers

8:54

in a way. They are constructed, and you

8:57

know they went out the at a brand new ballpark.

8:59

They signed Seeger and Simeon gave him

9:01

a half a billion dollars.

9:03

Uh.

9:03

I like Simeon a lot, and Segars bounced

9:06

back nicely as well. Those are two really

9:08

good players up the middle. Do you like these

9:11

guys?

9:12

Well, I like them, but I don't know if I like

9:15

anybody ten years, three

9:17

hundred million, I would stay

9:19

away from that. You know, if Corey

9:21

Seger, like Cory Sekar has been quite good actually,

9:23

and this year he's been sensational, but he hasn't

9:26

played enough. If he did what

9:28

he you know, if he had a season like he's having

9:30

now, if he has them in five of his ten years

9:33

under contract, then it's worth it.

9:35

But for the most part, these contracts

9:37

aren't worth it. So if they're going to pay

9:39

off, they better pay off like

9:41

now. You know, in the first couple of years of this contract,

9:44

Semion is already I don't know where he's at his thirties.

9:47

So you know, these guys are aging on

9:49

your watch as you're paying them huge money. So

9:51

Simeon plays all the time. I'll give him that, uh

9:54

secret doesn't. But when he does, he plays great.

9:57

But it's dicey, you know you can we we did

9:59

a thing this week, rob on how many aircraft

10:02

carriers can you have? You know, like in the navy, the

10:04

analogy how many superstar players

10:06

can you have on your roster? Making twenty seven

10:08

million or more? That's a super carrier and

10:11

the Rangers have three and

10:13

they've got I think four or five guys

10:16

over twenty million. Once you do

10:18

that, no matter how much money you're putting into your

10:20

payroll, you're putting

10:22

too much of a percentage in three

10:24

or four guys or five guys.

10:26

And everybody operates on a budget no matter

10:28

who you are, even if you're the metsage, you're the runaway

10:31

train for one year. Eventually

10:33

everybody comes back. So I don't like

10:35

that business model, but can it work?

10:37

And did it vault them into contention where they

10:39

were kind of dead in the water? Yes it did.

10:42

Our guest is Brian Kenny from MLB

10:45

Network is show MLB now you

10:47

could check out on the network. Let's

10:49

talk about Mookie bevets

10:52

me and you argued on your show MLB

10:54

now, and I told you that Mookie Bets

10:56

was my National League MVP. This is a couple

10:58

of weeks ago. BK, have you changed

11:01

your mind?

11:03

Well, you say it as if like, oh,

11:05

you were wrong. I think I'm usually

11:07

right at the time I'm speaking it, like

11:10

you tell me, I haven't studied it today.

11:12

Bets is probably the war leader right

11:15

now, you're hinting at all, right, So

11:18

yeah, he's certainly in contention. Last time I

11:20

looked, Betts and Freeman were

11:23

neck and neck. Acuna is

11:25

right there. At the time, I thought

11:27

Acuna had a clear edge that

11:29

said, Like, what I would advise all your

11:32

listeners to do is not

11:34

just look at war like. That's a good place to start,

11:37

because that gets the fielding in the base running

11:39

contribution, and that matters a lot for Bets,

11:41

Like we understand that also matters for Freeman. Freeman's

11:43

an excellent base runner. He's not some immobile

11:46

first baseman. But look at win probability

11:48

added and run expectancy. That's

11:50

your clutch stats. That's how often a

11:52

guy is moving the needles

11:55

for run scoring and moving the needle

11:57

for winning. So the guys who

11:59

were in the lead there last time I looked, I thought a Kunyam,

12:01

Bets and Freeman, and those two key categories

12:04

were all around the same spot. So

12:06

I think it's very very close. You can get

12:08

into the weeds. I think they're all in

12:10

contention. At the time, I thought it

12:12

was a coonie. I think when we talked, I have I have so many

12:14

duels with guys come in with their with their

12:17

you know, six guns. Everybody's

12:19

drawn on me. I don't remember any particular scuffle

12:21

that I had with you, except you know, the ones

12:23

that you were right on that we always have to revisit later.

12:26

But yeah, we got another month

12:28

and that will that will go a long way and telling the tale,

12:31

all right.

12:31

Speaking of Mookie Beats, I saw a comparison.

12:34

This was on MLB Network and

12:36

it was his career comparison with Barry

12:38

Bonds through one two hundred

12:41

and thirty one games. Do you remember that? Did

12:43

you see that? Remember what I'm talking about?

12:45

I think I think I saw it, and I don't

12:47

quite like that. I'm I'm

12:49

not a fan of that because it doesn't

12:52

take but one it does illustrate

12:54

a few things. I did the same thing with Bonds

12:56

at McGriff with Fred McGriff, and

12:59

I said on the like, everyone thinks,

13:01

now, oh, Barry Bonds, because he's so notorious, he

13:03

was the greatest player in the history of the game. How can the

13:05

Hall of Fame not have the greatest player? And I

13:07

say clean Barry versus clean

13:09

Fred, both guys in they're almost the same age,

13:11

both guys in their twenties. I take Fred McGriff.

13:14

Now, Bonds became Superman later,

13:16

but he did so with illegal methods,

13:19

and so I would still take McGriff. So

13:22

to say, like, Bonds was a spectacular

13:24

player, so is Bets. I just don't like,

13:26

like, how when did the guy break

13:28

in the first games? I think BET's probably broke

13:30

in later, Bond's broke in. He's probably

13:33

twenty one play in the majors. So I hate to say

13:35

this, but that's unfair to Bonds. No got

13:37

breaked in earlier. That's what it's credit.

13:39

I get it. It's it's just the comparison.

13:41

If people didn't see it is

13:44

it was hits, home runs,

13:46

RBI, rons, and

13:48

slug in percent it and Bets

13:51

had all of the categories except

13:53

slugging. Uh. He had more hits,

13:56

more home runs, more RBIs, more runs

13:59

and beat him out and slug in five

14:01

twenty eight to five twenty seven. So you're

14:04

right about that. Bonds did come in and

14:06

break into the league earlier, So

14:08

that is it just was.

14:09

Interested in the eight you know,

14:12

looks it's interesting in a lot of ways, but I think it's disingenuous

14:14

when people do it. I like to do, as you know, proper

14:17

sabermetrics, proper analytics, which

14:19

means you're not looking to get a desired result,

14:22

you're just looking to see what it is. Now again, I'm

14:24

being fair to Barry Bonds here, he breaks in

14:26

earlier. You should do eight seasons, like

14:28

through the age of twenty nine. Do

14:30

Bets versus Bonds? Would Could

14:32

Betts be better than Bonds? There? Probably

14:35

right up there with him, because Barry became

14:37

super Barry when he was thirty four, not even

14:39

thirty thirty four, and he became

14:41

a very different.

14:42

Guy, no doubt. Our guest

14:44

is Brian Kenny from MLB Network,

14:46

as show MLB Now weekdays

14:49

on the network. Let's go to the Angels.

14:52

The Angels did not trade Oltani. Of course,

14:54

Otani got heard. Now they letting

14:56

go. They they waved about five players,

14:59

including a Giolito, who

15:01

they had just gotten from the White Sox. Where

15:03

are you want the Angels? Was this just

15:05

to save some money? He was just to see some of the

15:07

young kids, Brian, you know in

15:10

the final month when they expand the rosters

15:12

to forty man comes September first.

15:15

Is this a wise move here?

15:17

No? This look, I think they're waving

15:20

the white flag. I think they're dealing with circumstances

15:22

in real time. I know, you

15:24

the ruthless GM he said, you got

15:26

a trade Otani? I think in

15:29

real time. I said it at the time, and I felt it at

15:31

the time. You know, yeah,

15:34

it's not ruthless GMing. They

15:36

weren't ruthlessly efficient, but they

15:38

weren't dealing with a very different sort of ballplayer

15:40

that they hoped to retain, right, they hope

15:42

to resign Otani, and

15:44

Otani was, you know, reasonably healthy at

15:47

the time. He was still pitching,

15:50

and they went for it. And I understand

15:52

why, and it's blown up in their face clearly,

15:55

But they were dealing with very different circumstances.

15:58

And I don't blame them for pushing in

16:00

and saying, hey, you know what, Logan o'happy

16:03

are catcher is coming back Mike Trout.

16:05

We hope is coming back in a week or two. We

16:07

could envision a scenario where we could compete

16:09

for this last wildcard. I don't

16:11

blame them, but it clearly

16:14

has blown up in their face. And Filito

16:16

coming in and having a you know, an eer of

16:19

I don't know, five or nine whatever it was

16:21

in his first three starts that blew

16:23

it up. You needed stellar starts

16:25

from your contributors right away. They didn't

16:27

get it. I think they're facing the new reality

16:29

now, and it's time to you know,

16:31

you're going to have to get somewhat efficient and rebuild

16:34

this club.

16:35

Last thing, the New York Metropolitans,

16:37

what a disaster. One hundred and one wins a

16:40

year ago. You add Verlander,

16:42

the al Cy Young Award winner

16:45

to Scherzer, you

16:47

think gotta be better than we

16:49

were a year ago. And of course that didn't work

16:51

out. But now Peter Lonzo, you

16:53

know, there's talk about will the Mets trade him?

16:56

Can they really trade this guy or

16:59

is this just talk?

17:02

Well you'll have to look at all options. But what would

17:04

make sense is I'm a big believer in right,

17:06

ruthless GMing. Yet

17:10

the idea is to draft and develop

17:12

your own players and keep them. That's

17:14

good for business, that's good for the fans.

17:17

That's usually good for your business. Now, if you don't

17:19

retain the guy early and he's just he just becomes

17:21

a free agent, you'll have a situation that

17:23

they just faced with brandon Nimo, which you're paying

17:25

full retail for your own guy, which

17:28

you should be able to do a little better than that. So

17:30

I get it, and maybe

17:32

they look to retool. Maybe

17:34

Alonzo. You know, look, everybody

17:36

has a tendency to overvalue themselves. Alonzo,

17:39

like Paul Goldschmid a few years ago, Rob probably

17:41

thinks, hey, where's my three hundred million dollar deal?

17:43

Anthony Rizzo remember that, like first baseman

17:46

used to haul in the cash. Now

17:48

we know that when a first basement gets

17:50

into his thirties, those

17:53

guys, you know, on the buy

17:56

and large don't age the best. They're

17:58

already in a non defensive position.

18:01

You're paying for their twenties and getting

18:03

their thirties. So it sometimes is

18:05

difficult resigning your slugging

18:07

first baseman because they see their own numbers,

18:09

their agencies and I'm one of the biggest stars

18:12

in the sport. When in reality. It's like, I

18:14

hate to say it, but you're a diminished asset with only

18:16

one good thing that you do on the field, and that's hit

18:19

and that's an important thing, but it's not everything.

18:22

But to answer the question, if

18:24

you really think you're a top five spender,

18:26

which the Mets will be, I don't

18:28

know. Letting your letting your homegrown

18:30

slug or walk. I don't think that's good for business

18:33

at all.

18:34

I'm with you. I think that would be a mistake.

18:36

And you're in business too. You

18:38

can't give up. You got to have an attraction.

18:40

What you what are you attracting people to the ballpark?

18:43

And I agree on he's a Norble power hitter.

18:45

Yeah, ro Rob, he said, I'm not you know, I'm

18:47

saying all these bad things. By the way, he's a good

18:49

power hitter, like and you do want someone

18:51

like that. I'm I'm a fan actually, Rob

18:54

of the Paul Kennerko type. I

18:56

think those guys went from overrated in

18:58

the game of baseball to underrated. You

19:00

don't have to have a spectacular slugging percentage

19:02

just to be a good run producer,

19:05

a total basis guy, a durable

19:07

slugging you guy who slugs five point

19:09

thirty. Whether that's like you

19:11

know again Konerko or

19:14

Chris Shambliss to go back in the day. Doesn't

19:17

have to be a superstar, but just have a solid

19:19

run. Producer at first base matters

19:21

a lot.

19:22

No doubt. His name is Brian Kenny,

19:24

one of the best in the business. You got all the numbers

19:27

for you. Check me out on his show

19:29

every Thursday twelve

19:32

fifteen. I love doing a BK. Thank

19:34

you so much for joining me on Inside

19:37

the Parker.

19:39

Rob than thank you a pleasure. And by the way, people can

19:41

tune in at noon and watch the

19:43

start of the show, not just when you arrive at twelve

19:45

fifteen.

19:46

You know there you go, Oh yeah, that's right, the show

19:48

starts. I thought the show starting at

19:50

twelve fifteen. No, you're

19:54

you're.

19:54

The Barry Bonds of the Sports TV. Oh

19:56

I thought it started when I showed up.

20:00

No dell, Thank you, BK.

20:01

Appreciate you all, Rob, take care.

20:06

It's time for the Pocket Protector Centro.

20:09

The analytic numbers you need to know?

20:12

Well maybe Anthony Masterson

20:15

is his name. BS

20:17

Analytics is his game. What do you got

20:19

for me, Anthony?

20:20

We've got about one month left in the regular season,

20:22

and the MVP races are heating up

20:24

well, at least one of them. Some sportsbooks

20:26

have taken the AL MVP off the board

20:29

since its show hey Otani in a runaway even

20:31

with the Angels failings. The easy

20:33

money for NL MVP was on the braves

20:35

Ronald Acunya Junior all season, but lately

20:38

we're hearing chatter about the Dodgers Mookie Bets and

20:40

Freddy Freeman, or even Acunia's teammate

20:42

Matt Olsen. But who really has the best

20:44

case at this point. Let's start with a Kunya.

20:46

He's taken advantage of the new rules aiding and stolen

20:49

bases, and now, barring something catastrophic,

20:51

will be the first player in MLB history

20:54

history with thirty homers and

20:56

sixty steals in a single season. And it's still

20:58

only August leads a league

21:00

and hits runs, steals, OBP

21:03

and his third in OPS all for Baseball's

21:05

best team. Close behind him or

21:07

even ahead of him, depending on which sportsbook you find,

21:10

is Mookie, who has been fish grease

21:12

hot in the second half, hitting three ninety

21:14

five with an OPS over eleven hundred for the

21:16

surging Dodgers. He's already at

21:18

a career high in homer's while leading the league

21:20

in slugging ops and wins

21:22

above replacement from both Baseball Reference and

21:24

Fangrafts. With an MVP for the

21:26

Red Sox in twenty eighteen, he can become

21:28

the second player to win MVP in both leagues,

21:31

joining Frank Robinson. Freeman

21:33

leads in extra base hits and total bases. Will

21:35

Olsen owns the homer and RBI titles in

21:37

a swap. That's we're gamebusters for both teams.

21:39

But whoever the voters end up choosing

21:42

the NL MVP has a fascinating

21:44

month ahead of it.

21:47

Blaftball is it was a

21:49

big week in the big leagues? Who's

21:52

a five? Is

21:56

it foul or is it fair? And

21:59

now from mlbdbro

22:01

dot com here's Jrgambo

22:05

Jr.

22:06

Is it foul or fair to

22:09

say that Mookie Betts is now the

22:11

clear favorite to win the

22:13

National League MVP?

22:15

Foul?

22:17

That is a foul ball.

22:19

There's been a lot of talk about Mookie Bets

22:21

making a late run for MVP, and

22:23

he has, but it seems

22:26

just as Mookie started closing the gap

22:28

and it became a real possibility that

22:31

the runaway winner from early in the season,

22:33

Ronald Acunya of the Braves, would not

22:35

win the MVP. Acunya

22:37

started turning up the gas and is

22:39

all but locked down that MVP again.

22:42

With an historic season with

22:45

twenty nine homers and an MLB

22:47

leading sixty one steals, Acunya

22:50

is quickly closing in on the first thirty

22:52

home run sixty stolen base season

22:55

in MLB history. Yes,

22:57

he's on the verge of a power speed seeds

23:00

that no one has ever accomplished before,

23:03

not even the legendary Rickey Henderson.

23:06

Now, keep in mind that stealing

23:08

basis has become one of the easiest things

23:11

to do offensively on the baseball field

23:13

since those rule changes were implemented.

23:16

But beggars can't be choosers, right. Steals

23:19

a backup and are becoming common

23:21

parts of the game again, which is

23:23

what all of us purists wanted. With

23:26

a little power surge, Akunya could

23:28

possibly even go forty seventy.

23:30

Now, that would be amazing, But for

23:33

now and for MVP, I'll

23:35

take the first thirty sixty season in MLB

23:38

history. Mookie's been a madman,

23:41

but it's no guarantee he's even

23:43

the MVP of his team with Freddie

23:45

Freeman there, you can't

23:47

deny Ronald Lacunya's unprecedented

23:50

speed power combo.

23:53

Turn money into more money. Now

23:55

it's time for betting on the basis with

23:57

Dave Gascot, Love that.

23:59

Money, Rob.

24:00

What's going on, Matt Brand new week in of Baseball?

24:02

After your lengthy vacation last week,

24:05

but glad to have you back or the dog

24:07

days. There's summer coming to a close, and now

24:09

we get our eyes set on October. We'll

24:11

talk about this weekend's games. And first

24:13

off, how about the San Diego Padres, biggest

24:16

frauds in Major League Baseball this season?

24:18

Did they win the World Series by beating the Dodgers

24:21

last year in the postseason? I think

24:23

so. We're not gonna touch the Padres for the rest of the

24:25

year, but we're gonna look at some teams over

24:27

the weekend. They're gonna take advantage of clubs

24:29

that are bailing on the rest of twenty twenty

24:31

three. First off, Yankees and Astros.

24:34

Yankees sub five hundred, dead last the

24:36

American League East. I'm gonna take Houston.

24:38

They have plenty of things to play because of the American League

24:40

West Astros, Mariners,

24:43

Rangers in a dog fight right now

24:45

out West. Speaking of the Texas

24:47

Rangers, they're at home against the Minnesota Twins.

24:49

Max shuz Is gonna be on the bump for Texas.

24:52

I will take them as well, So the Astros,

24:54

the Rangers, and the know squad. I like because

24:56

the Tampa Bay Rays, I don't know how they're doing

24:58

it, but they're hanging tough in the American

25:01

League East, a couple of games back of the

25:03

Baltimore Orioles without a starting rotation.

25:05

They're in Cleveland against the Guardians. That will take

25:08

them Friday night as well.

25:10

Now bring in the closer.

25:14

Here's why MLB is better than the NFL

25:17

or NBA, and it isn't even

25:19

close.

25:22

Reason number one hundred and fifty five

25:24

why Major League Baseball is better than the

25:27

NBA and better than the NFL.

25:30

The waivers player. Good players

25:32

get waved, they can still

25:34

help you. Don't see that

25:37

in other sports in the NBA of the NFL,

25:39

where you could actually pick up players who could

25:42

help you in a postseason run. Angels

25:45

just let go of five players they waive

25:48

them. Gialito

25:51

is a picture of the white Sox Tad who

25:54

pitched a no hitter, who

25:57

was a big piece of their puzzle.

25:59

Now he's available for somebody if

26:01

he clears waivers for a team.

26:05

In the NBA, it's always the

26:07

players who nobody wants anymore, gets

26:09

waves very seldom, or that they picked up

26:12

maybe a big man every once in a blue

26:14

moon to get some rebounds. In

26:17

the NFL, you never see guys waves

26:19

who are gonna come on and be impact players.

26:22

But there's always still hope in baseball

26:24

that you could add a piece at

26:27

the very end that could

26:29

help you make your run, help you

26:31

get into the World Series, help you win a World

26:33

Series. I think that's a cool thing

26:35

about the sport. In

26:43

the words of New York TV legend the

26:45

late Bill Jorgensen, thanking you for

26:47

your time this time until next time,

26:49

Rob Parker out d Kid

26:52

Davin.

26:52

This could be an inside the

26:54

Parker See you next week, same bat

26:56

time, from the same Matt's station.
