0:46
Hi , my friend , welcome to Inspire to Run Podcast
0:48
. Today I have the privilege of sitting down
0:50
with Bruce Davis . Bruce was
0:52
coming from a very difficult time and
0:55
he found peace during endurance events and
0:57
obstacle course races . This
0:59
year Bruce has done four Deca Strongs
1:02
, three Deca Miles , one
1:04
Deca Fit High Rocks , tough
1:06
Mudder , two Savage Races , two
1:08
Rugged Maniacs and three Spartan
1:10
Races . And he just finished up running
1:12
his first half marathon and Spartan
1:15
Beast . And this is only
1:17
the beginning . Welcome to the show , bruce
1:19
.
1:20
Thank you , thank you , rich , rich , thanks for
1:22
having me .
1:24
Yeah well , thanks for being here and sharing
1:26
your story . You have an incredible story
1:28
this year alone . I'm just amazed by
1:30
all of the races you run . I'm reading through
1:32
this I was like I know you've run a lot of races
1:34
, but this is a lot of races in one year
1:36
and I didn't quite know the full story . So excited
1:39
to kind of get into your story and just learn a little
1:41
bit more about you and really , what
1:43
was the reason that led you to do
1:45
these types of races ? So just take , you know
1:48
, wind the clock back a little bit and just tell
1:50
us a little bit about your story .
1:52
I was just you know , just that everyday
1:54
guy at one point , just you
1:56
know , we , you know we call him the Jim Rats , the
1:58
guy's always skipping leg day , just
2:01
you know . One day , arms , two
2:03
days , chest back , whatever , and it
2:06
just came routine . I just kept doing it , I kept doing
2:08
it , I kept doing it . And
2:10
it was when my
2:12
son's mother , when she passed , it
2:15
was just , I was at a lock , I just
2:17
was still . I had no
2:19
, I felt like no direction . I felt alone
2:22
, I felt like
2:24
I had nothing going on
2:26
in my life but a routine . The
2:28
routine was like the rat race of life
2:30
going to work , paying bills
2:32
, coming home . You know what I'm saying ? And
2:34
for me it was . I was just tired
2:37
of that . I needed to find my
2:39
tribe and my why , and
2:42
it was when I discovered the
2:44
Spartan races that you
2:47
know , that opened up the door for me .
2:49
Well , I'm so sorry for your loss and
2:51
I appreciate you sharing that with us and
2:53
you know it's really great that you found Spartan
2:56
and you found kind of that sense of purpose
2:58
and I'm really curious to understand or
3:00
hear like why Spartan
3:02
?
3:04
Why Spartan Spartan was . You
3:07
know , me and my friends , all we had
3:09
this thing where we always it was
3:13
like we kept putting it
3:15
on the tape on the shelf , like maybe next year , maybe
3:17
next year , after that , maybe next year . We just didn't
3:20
want to . You know , it
3:22
was just the regular , like next
3:24
year , next year . And it was one day
3:26
I was on the , I
3:29
was on my phone and I seen an ad for
3:32
the Spartan stadium
3:34
run and when
3:36
I saw that stadium run I said you know
3:38
what ? Now is the time . It was only a month out
3:40
. And when I saw it I
3:42
said you know what , now is the time , let me , let
3:45
me sign up . And from there
3:47
, you know , 30 days , I had 30 days
3:49
to train . I trained myself . No coach
3:52
, no , nothing , just me and the will
3:54
to just do it . It took
3:56
me an hour and 40 , I
3:58
think an hour and 40 minutes to finish that stadium
4:00
run and that it woke
4:03
me up . That was the day I
4:05
completely , like , switched the light switch went right
4:07
off , click and I was just . I was , I was down
4:09
, I was hooked .
4:12
So I appreciate you sharing that . You know
4:14
, similar to to my story when
4:17
I first started with Spartan . So you
4:19
know I was , I was running as part
4:21
of a team , we actually
4:23
did train . So a little bit different from your story in that
4:26
regard , but I did the rate
4:28
by first race . It was a Spartan sprint . And
4:30
then , you know , after that I'm like I
4:33
want to continue doing this and I want to
4:35
. I could know I could do better , right . And
4:37
it was just kind of the spark was like this
4:39
is I'm going to start this year this journey of doing things
4:41
that I've never done before and overcome fears
4:43
, and this was a way for me to do that
4:45
. So , but it really just took that first race
4:48
to kind of light that spark
4:50
, right . So
4:53
you know , tell me a little bit more about that . So
4:55
you mentioned that
4:57
you didn't train 30 days . You did the race
4:59
. You know , tell me a little bit more about , like , what did
5:01
you experience during the race ? And then what happened
5:03
?
5:04
It was . It was hard . My heart was just beating out of
5:06
my chest . One
5:08
good moment I do remember about that , rich
5:11
, was that I had no training
5:13
with the spear throw and I hit
5:15
it on my first try . I go oh my God , I got
5:17
it . They're like , yeah , you did it . I'm
5:20
sure it did . I was
5:22
really excited about that . Overall , looking
5:26
back at that I had I discovered
5:28
with what my strengths were and what
5:30
my weaknesses were in doing that
5:33
stadium run , and again
5:35
that that was that will always be
5:37
my favorite race for
5:39
the rest of my life because that opened the door
5:41
for me that got me into into this , into this
5:43
world . You
5:45
know , and after I finished , I was , I was
5:48
hooked man . That's , that's when you discover
5:50
it all you know the whole vote
5:52
of what , what we do , you know .
5:56
Yeah for sure . And you know for our
5:58
Spartan friends who are listening , they're
6:01
going to be super jealous to hear that you nailed the spear on the first try . So
6:04
I I can tell you after many races I don't
6:07
think I've had a successful spear throw . So a
6:09
lot of folks are probably going to be jealous to hear that you did that right out of
6:11
the gate .
6:13
Right out , right out the gate man . And yesterday
6:15
I did it . I did it and landed it . But
6:18
I landed it on the second try because I knew I
6:20
could do it . So I threw it up
6:22
and burning in it and it missed . I
6:24
got some . I'm gonna try this again . Screw that , I'm gonna try this again
6:27
. Grabbed it , concentrate on my breathing
6:29
, leveled it out , Boom and hit
6:31
it . And as soon as I hit it I said I knew I was going
6:33
to let that slide .
6:35
I'm gonna hit that mark . Heck no . That's
6:39
awesome . That's awesome , all right
6:41
. So you know what are the things that you learned . When
6:43
you said you know you learned a lot about yourself
6:45
during that race , like what are some of
6:47
the things that you learned ? And then what ? Where did you
6:49
take it from there ?
6:51
I learned the world about my weakness
6:54
as well , being a better runner , learning
6:57
how to condition my body , pace
6:59
and just overall
7:03
, just a sense of purpose . I mean
7:05
it . You know , dealing
7:07
with your mental . You know
7:09
, because every time you turn around it's
7:11
something else , is something else and , like
7:13
I was telling a friend of mine yesterday
7:16
, see Spartans , all about mental . Yeah
7:18
, the physical is there , but they really
7:20
want to psych you out mentally . That's why every
7:22
time you turn around , even at the stadium run , every
7:25
time you turn around , there's more steps . You got to go up , you got to
7:27
go up . They want you , they want
7:29
you elevated , they want you to keep moving those , moving
7:31
those legs to go up . And so
7:33
when you come back down now you got an obstacle
7:35
, you know . So you know , those
7:37
were the things that I've learned , man , and I
7:39
sense home getting on that I home
7:41
did on my mental , and
7:44
now it's just about
7:46
focusing on strength
7:49
and being able to to
7:51
deal with the problems
7:53
when they come because they're going to come . Not everything's 100%
7:56
, you know . You know 100%
7:58
there's going to be some things that happen out there , but
8:00
you got to be prepared for that and I learned
8:02
that too , even with the stadium run .
8:08
Yeah , for sure . And you know , when you talk
8:10
about mental , is it mental kind
8:12
of the focus and overcoming
8:15
the obstacles of the race . So you're talking about just in
8:17
general , because you mentioned that
8:19
you had experienced a loss in your
8:21
life and you know you're looking for
8:23
that community , you're looking for that purpose . So
8:25
how did you balance that , how did you put your
8:27
, get your focus and your mindset
8:29
in doing something as hard as a Spartan
8:32
race , with everything else kind of going on
8:34
in your life ?
8:36
Life man , you know , shout out to Shamika
8:38
. You know I love her . I love her still
8:40
. She was always used to buy
8:42
me , even at my worst times in life
8:44
, and when she passed away it
8:47
hurted . It still hurts . It hurts that it never goes
8:49
away , you know , and you know
8:51
, sitting there , sitting , you know
8:53
, here , you know , dwelling
8:56
, and not necessarily dwelling , but more
8:58
so sitting on those
9:00
feelings . Either I'm going to let
9:03
them out through Spartan or
9:05
I'm just going to consume them in
9:07
a negative way , you know
9:09
. And so I took her
9:12
passing as a sense of . You
9:14
know , she would want that from me . She
9:16
would want me to thrive and be a
9:19
way better person or
9:21
take my journey
9:23
to the next level . And she's with me . She
9:25
was with me through all of them . You know her
9:27
and my mother . You know I had
9:29
a lot of times on my shirts I
9:31
put her name or I put her face . You
9:34
know , even when I was at the stadium run in Philadelphia
9:36
, you know , I felt her presence there , you
9:39
know , because you know it was because
9:41
of her passing that helped me , because if it
9:43
was her passing I probably would have never , I probably would have
9:45
never been doing this , you know . So
9:48
it was that fuel that
9:50
helped me be me
9:52
, be who I am , you know . And I owe
9:54
that to her . I owe that to my mother .
9:57
Yeah , yeah for sure , and I appreciate you
9:59
sharing that and I think your message
10:01
is a powerful one because there's
10:04
others probably
10:06
in similar situations that are going through something
10:08
, and I've seen through
10:10
and heard through stories like yours and others
10:12
how running and obstacle course
10:15
racing has really
10:17
kind of been there for them during tough
10:19
times and it's been something that they
10:21
can turn to again
10:23
kind of during those difficult times . So I
10:25
appreciate you sharing your story and you know
10:27
I want others to hear this and
10:30
know that they have options , right , if
10:32
they're going through a challenging time , it's . You
10:34
know , now's the time to . You
10:37
know , if it's something to do with being active
10:39
and something to do with sports , it's great . Or
10:41
even if it's something else , but just kind of that
10:43
, that philosophy
10:46
of just movement or just moving forward
10:48
, right , whether whatever that is .
10:50
Right , right , right . Life is
10:52
hard , you know , is what we do
10:54
with it . That makes us who we are , and
10:57
that's the sit . You know , life
10:59
is like a deck of fit , you know what I mean . Or
11:02
running , you know . A half marathon , 10k
11:05
, 5k , an ultra marathon
11:07
, you know what I mean , you know , and pushing
11:11
through those will help you push
11:13
through life , because it's basically
11:15
it's like the same thing If
11:17
you can run a deck of fit , there
11:19
ain't nothing coming . You know what I'm saying . Especially , you beat your
11:22
last time . You
11:24
can do it , you can handle anything Because
11:26
, again , what we do , you know , finding
11:28
that time to train , finding that time to
11:30
exercise . Life doesn't stop for us . Yo
11:32
, we pay for this , we pay to do this . You
11:35
know what I'm saying . It sponsors for us . You
11:37
know what I'm saying . We pay to be here . So
11:39
life doesn't stop and
11:42
what makes us so unique is that we can continue
11:44
to do that while doing the everyday
11:46
things that everybody else still does and
11:49
that , definitely , with podcasts like yours
11:51
, definitely is a blessing . That is
11:53
out there so that people hear
11:56
that and they see that and
11:58
they know that .
12:00
For sure . And I love what you said about the
12:03
crossover between you know , being active
12:05
in the sports world and life . And you
12:07
know I worked for somebody who was always
12:09
interested in my
12:11
running journey and always asking me , did you get
12:13
your runs , or when's your next race ? And they're
12:16
really interested and one thing that they said to me was
12:18
fascinating because they were like look , if you could
12:20
do those things right , if you could have the mental
12:22
toughness to do those things , I
12:25
know that you're going to show up here right
12:27
, you're going to show up at work and you're going to have that mental toughness
12:30
. So you know , even he recognized kind
12:32
of the crossover between you know
12:34
, the active or athletic part of
12:36
my life and the work or the
12:38
professional part .
12:40
Right , right right .
12:41
So let's hear a little bit more about your running journey
12:44
. So I know you did the stadium and I know you've . We
12:46
just talked about all the races that you've done this
12:48
year . So you know , let's talk about
12:50
maybe one of your favorite races that you did
12:52
this year and why .
12:54
Man .
12:56
Is that too hard to choose ?
12:58
Yeah , yeah , because you know what . They all got
13:00
a story . You know if I can
13:02
I don't even know if I have a fit OK
13:04
, because I could say you know , the
13:06
half marathon was most inspirational for me
13:09
, but high rocks was
13:11
like the Holy Grail , because with high
13:13
rocks I had no running , I
13:16
had no running experience . I ran that when
13:19
I did high rocks it was I had two
13:21
months of training for high rocks
13:24
, you know what I mean . And I had before high
13:26
rocks I did maybe two deco
13:28
miles , you know what I mean . So I had no
13:30
running . And to run
13:32
, to be able to run high rocks , was
13:35
an accomplishment
13:37
in itself , you know so
13:39
. So that's my favorite one because
13:42
of where I was at when I did it . My
13:45
, my half marathon will be the
13:47
most inspirational because
13:49
my running improved . My
13:51
running improved . I did I maintain
13:54
a 10 minute pace , about 10 and a half minute
13:56
pace . My goal was under
13:58
230 . I did it in two 2032
14:00
. And to me and that
14:03
enriched my very first one , you know , out
14:05
the gate , you know I didn't do a five K or a
14:07
10 K , I just I just went right to the half marathon
14:09
and very , very inspirational
14:12
. Inspiring for me because
14:14
I just
14:16
wasn't a runner , I was just
14:18
one of those guys . At my heaviest
14:20
I got up to 240 , 240
14:22
like muscle . You know I was going to the gym that's
14:25
lifting heavy weight and then I
14:27
was like , well , to do what I'm about to do
14:29
, I got to , I got to bring it back down . There's no
14:31
way I can move all of that . I mean there's people that
14:33
can do it , but but I
14:35
didn't want to do that . I never . 240 was cool , but
14:38
I like where I'm at now . I believe in that , like my
14:40
last in body scan put me at 212
14:42
. And you know the
14:44
yeah , yeah . So I will say high
14:47
rocks . High rocks because where I was at is a
14:49
combination between high rocks and the half marathon
14:51
. Those are my favorites as of right now
14:53
because every single race
14:55
I did this year has a story
14:57
. You know they all have stories
15:00
. You meet people , inspired
15:02
, inspiring people like yourself . You
15:04
know I mean and the conditions
15:06
. You know I mean everything
15:08
, man . The First part
15:10
in sprint , I did at Mount Vernon
15:12
April of April . It was
15:15
bad , it was bad , it
15:17
rained that whole weekend . I
15:19
did the sprint on a Sunday
15:21
and that the day
15:23
before I ran my first deco mile up
15:26
, kind of up in the same area like an hour away in
15:28
North Jersey , but it rained the whole way up
15:30
there . But the deco mile was that
15:32
was was completely indoors , the whole thing
15:34
was indoors so it was nothing . So
15:37
that sprint
15:39
Was brutal because
15:41
of the weather . People were sliding
15:43
down the hills , it was muddy , it was
15:45
bad . They had to shut down the bucket carry
15:48
because Saturday people kept falling . It
15:50
was bad , you
15:52
know . And that that race taught me a
15:54
great lesson , and lesson is simple
15:57
your mind makes
15:59
it harder than what it actually is
16:01
. It will always be that . Oh
16:03
, my god , I don't want to do an ultra . That's
16:06
30 miles . Basically , your mind
16:08
makes it harder than what it is . And I
16:10
learned that with the , with
16:12
the Spartan sprint , because I never I
16:14
did the rain , the cold weather . I don't want to go do
16:16
all that stuff out there . Who does ? We all
16:18
want the nice sunny , 60 , 70 degree
16:20
weather , but it's not like
16:23
that . Life is not always like that . Is there going
16:25
to be those clouds and is what we do
16:27
with those clouds that makes us who
16:29
we are ?
16:31
You know I love what you said about the
16:33
, the mental part , because it's
16:35
almost like you're reading my mind . Oh , that ultra
16:37
is too hard , is too long is that's
16:39
absolutely what I've been saying to To
16:42
our mutual friend , coach Kevin , like , oh , you
16:44
know , he's like all the ultra's next . I'm like I
16:46
don't know about that . I mean , I've got some , I got
16:48
some other goals . I don't know if ultra is next and
16:50
then and then the death race
16:52
right , the Spartan death race . Oh my gosh , I
16:55
was like the name itself should be an indicator
16:57
. But but super
17:00
cool , you know the races that you shared . So first , shout
17:02
out to high rocks . You know we just had coach
17:04
Kevin and AJ Golik on Instagram
17:06
live talking about tips to crusher Hi
17:09
rocks race on Instagram . So that was
17:11
a lot of fun . I personally haven't done
17:13
it . I've only done the Spartan races and the deck
17:15
races . So I don't know , maybe high rocks is
17:17
in my future . And then you know you talked
17:19
about the half marathon and you
17:21
were building up on the on the OCR
17:23
side , but you went right for the half marathon
17:26
on the road race side . So I think that's
17:28
interesting that you did that . But like , how
17:30
was that first experience for you , kind of doing that
17:32
half marathon , because you had been doing a little
17:34
bit of running , I think through OCR , so maybe you
17:36
felt a little bit more prepared to do that race
17:38
.
17:40
Right , yes and no right
17:43
. And that's a great question , by the way . Shout out
17:45
to rich for that question . That's a good one , right . What
17:48
it was was this whole
17:50
year , man , this
17:52
whole year , everything I thought about
17:54
this . When I saw rich
17:56
Ryan , when the World Championship , atlantic City
17:58
last year , at the Decoral Championships , I had this whole
18:00
thing planned in my head , how I was going
18:02
to tackle 2023 . When I saw
18:05
that it was like Christmas for me when I Was in Atlantic
18:07
City watching this , and that's when I first met coach Kevin
18:09
. Shout out to coach Kevin . Underdog , all
18:11
day I got mad love for my brothers over there , including
18:14
my man , rich . So I
18:17
, when I , when I started running
18:19
, it was April
18:23
. April was when I started
18:25
running . Prior to that , rich
18:28
, there was no running . I did no running
18:30
. I had no coach . I had no , nothing
18:32
. It was all me just learning
18:35
online . You know , I had no plan
18:37
, no structure , until April . April
18:40
was when I finally build up my , got my
18:42
structure in place , got my coach in
18:44
place . Shout out to Robert Woods , would
18:46
he work out ? And we he
18:48
started putting things in place for me to start
18:50
running . You know , interval running , progression running
18:53
, easy runs , long runs
18:55
. After I finished high rocks and
18:57
I started training for , because after
19:00
high rock was over , my mind went
19:02
right towards the half marathon and
19:04
we put together my coach , rather put
19:06
together the plan for me and that
19:08
running progression , all of that help
19:11
with that , could fit with everything else
19:13
I had in the middle . So the OCR
19:15
, the OCR side of what I'm doing , I Really
19:18
do any running in the OCR , our
19:20
power walk , I'll go up . If it's a nice smooth
19:23
like level , then I'll do like a zone
19:25
to light run . But for the most part
19:27
it's just living the experience
19:30
and enjoying myself and meeting
19:32
like-minded people . If we are
19:34
hybrid races where I'll
19:36
be into really trying to
19:38
, you know , pr , get in
19:40
, then you know , compare my time
19:42
for my last time , like , like
19:44
, like the deck of strongs , I did four of them
19:46
. So the best time I did was
19:49
like 16 and some change . You know I'm saying
19:51
that was my third one . My fourth one
19:53
. I wound up doing 18 minutes , you know
19:55
me . But then I stopped because I was other
19:57
a deck of mile and then high
19:59
rocks and all of that . So so so my
20:01
running just I
20:05
used running as a
20:07
base for everything else
20:09
, especially now . So
20:11
me running for the half marathon automatically
20:14
is preparing my mind for the
20:16
full marathon , or for the Rocky run , or
20:19
for the beast . No
20:21
, my legs wouldn't be able to take all that pounding had
20:23
I not been doing all my running .
20:25
So Running
20:28
is key yeah for sure Running is
20:30
key . Sure , yes , sir . So
20:32
you know , tell me a little bit about one of the questions
20:34
I like to ask the guests that come on the show is
20:36
what is the biggest obstacle
20:38
that you faced , you know , during this
20:40
part of your journey , and then , how did you overcome
20:43
it ?
20:45
Wow , the biggest
20:47
, the biggest obstacle so far . Well
20:51
, I want to say right now , my biggest
20:53
obstacle right now was
20:55
running , was running , my , I want to say running
20:57
the half marathon . That was the biggest obstacle
21:00
because I'm constantly . That was
21:02
the longest , I was the longest . I was
21:04
on my feet as far as like , not a
21:07
sense of now , the Spartan beast , but
21:09
even with high rocks I wasn't on my feet that long
21:11
. And it's mixed . You're not doing all , you're not constantly
21:14
running like , you're like , you're constantly running at the
21:16
half marathon . So I
21:18
mean , yeah , yeah
21:20
, I overcame it by my mindset
21:23
. You know my mindset
21:25
persevering , thinking about my loved
21:27
ones , thinking about , you know , my
21:29
loved ones , who's past , and
21:32
you know just , grid
21:34
and determination
21:36
. Man , like I'm not anything
21:38
I signed up for . I am
21:40
going to make sure it gets done , no
21:43
matter what . Now , that doesn't
21:45
mean rich , that hey , like , like , like . For example , I got
21:47
the ultra right in April and
21:49
if I fail , then I fail . But I go
21:51
with understanding and knowing . Guess what ? I'm coming
21:53
right back and I'm going to rock it the next time . So
21:55
, like I'm playing , I got plans
21:57
for all of that . So , mm-hmm
22:00
.
22:01
All right , all right . So
22:03
, incredible running journey , incredible
22:05
OCR journey so far . What's
22:07
next for you ? What's coming up for the balance of this
22:10
year and into next year ?
22:12
Oh man , you know I
22:14
got a saying . I probably got it from somebody
22:16
, you know , but I say a lot , especially
22:19
when I'm out there on the trails or I'm at an event
22:22
. There's always another race . When
22:25
you are , when we are at races
22:27
, that race whether we started at that
22:29
wave or our wave , is later , the
22:31
race is already done because we're here . It's
22:34
always the next race , and
22:36
that race that we're in is preparation
22:38
for that next race , no matter
22:40
what . So my next race
22:43
that I got coming up is
22:45
I have I'm looking to benchmark
22:47
my 5K and 10K later
22:50
this month , october 21st
22:52
. That's the goal . I
22:54
got a , I got a pay for it on one sign up . Haven't done it
22:56
yet . Right , that's the . I am , though
22:59
I have
23:01
the Philadelphia Rocky run . That's the first
23:03
time I've ever done that . That's another one . I
23:05
always wanted to do that run , but never did it . But
23:07
now I mean they have three , they
23:10
have three versions of that . They got
23:12
the 5K , then the 10K if
23:14
you do both . That's the Italian style and
23:16
challenge , basically , you know half marathon
23:18
. So I signed up for the half marathon and
23:21
then that very next week I'll do the
23:23
Philadelphia full marathon , and
23:25
that's it . After the marathon . I'm
23:27
done for the year . I'm with this train
23:30
for next year and
23:32
next year . Right now I got signed up
23:34
for the Spartan Ultra . I'm making
23:36
that rich . I'm making that a whole trifecta weekend that
23:38
weekend . So I'm going to do the ultra and
23:40
then the super and sprint that Sunday .
23:43
Okay , all right . Well , the world's going to hear
23:45
it . You put it out into the world and we're going to
23:47
be there cheering you on .
23:49
My man . Yes , sir , yes , sir , oh
23:51
, and my future . I'm sorry , I'm not in control of two
23:53
. I still got that . I signed up
23:56
Hirox , I got
23:58
Hirox DC . That's March
24:00
of 2020 , next year , and
24:03
now , since I got one of the books , it's PR
24:06
time . Now , you know , I got my numbers
24:08
.
24:08
The goal is simple Beat the numbers , and
24:10
that's all man , you know this is ongoing . This
24:12
is ongoing for us .
24:13
I'm not . This is it for me . This is I found my people
24:15
. You know what I mean . I love . I
24:17
love what you do . I love
24:19
the community . We was out there
24:21
singing never going to give you up
24:23
on the trail yesterday . You
24:26
know we used to be singing that song because I had that
24:28
song on my speaker and it the
24:30
battery died . So they remembered it and we started
24:32
singing together at
24:34
the water station .
24:35
That's awesome
24:37
, that's awesome so 2024
24:39
, man , god bless it .
24:41
It's going to be a fun year . I'm looking to
24:43
run more and I'm just
24:45
so thankful for all of this , and
24:48
I just look forward to having more stories
24:50
.
24:51
All right . Well , we look forward to having those stories
24:54
here on the show . So , bruce , kind of as we
24:56
wind down here , what is the one thing you
24:58
would say to our community to inspire
25:00
them to run while they're going
25:02
through a difficult time ?
25:05
I would say use that difficult time as
25:08
fuel and fire
25:11
and passion to pursue greatness
25:14
. You know what I mean . Let it become
25:16
what it means to become in you
25:18
, to be the person you need to become
25:20
, because
25:22
life doesn't stop for any of us . It
25:25
moves forward . Just
25:27
as there are bad times , there are good times
25:29
. It's what we do that
25:32
makes us who we are . So
25:35
get off that couch , get
25:37
out there , get those mouths in , get
25:39
those stories . Don't
25:42
be that person , because that could have been me
25:44
, that person 10 years from
25:46
now , 20 , 15 years from now . I
25:48
wish I did it . I
25:50
wish that's the worst feeling and
25:53
I haven't gotten there . Thank God Now
25:55
I can sit back . I sit back and look
25:57
at the photos and you get that smile
25:59
, that smile because you did it . Now
26:02
only did you do it . You trained for
26:04
it . You worked 12 hours
26:06
and then you still found a hat that hour
26:08
, two hours just to go out there and
26:10
run or go out there and do some
26:12
threshold work . You know what I mean . You
26:14
know what I mean Compromise running work just
26:17
because you know you wanna be at your
26:19
best when you are out . There
26:21
come race day . So get off the couch . Get
26:23
off the couch , man . That couch is comfortable it
26:26
is .
26:26
I have a comfortable couch back there .
26:27
I can sit right there and play a game all day . No
26:30
man , it's about life's about living . So
26:32
we gotta start living . So live , that's
26:35
what I would say . I would say live .
26:38
Love it , love it . Bruce . Thank you so
26:40
much for coming on the show . I really appreciate you
26:43
sharing your story , your
26:45
kind of , your origin story , your running
26:48
journey and advice for our community
26:50
. So how can our listeners
26:52
find you and follow you online ?
26:54
I mean , like in my past life , past
26:56
life , even in this life , I
26:59
call myself a super editor . I'm a video
27:01
editor of one awards and video production
27:03
for 10 plus years . So
27:05
a lot of people I don't have like be
27:07
fit on all that , it's like be productions
27:10
. So they looked on YouTube for be
27:12
productions . That'd be a good way to
27:14
find me , I guess , here
27:16
, or they can email me , if you ever want , bruce
27:18
Davis , the number 20 at gmailcom
27:20
. That's a great way , a
27:22
great simpler way to get at me . And that's
27:24
about it , man . My YouTube channel has a lot of my fitness
27:27
journey videos , a lot
27:29
of animations that I do inspiring other
27:31
people that I meet in the fitness hybrid
27:34
community , people that I look up to
27:36
and people that
27:38
I inspire . I get that , too , from
27:40
people saying please make me , inspire me , man . Thank you
27:42
so much . Hey , I'm just trying to live
27:44
, man . I'm just like you . You know what I'm saying . I'm
27:47
just like you . I just want my kids
27:49
to be proud of me . I want my loved ones
27:51
to be proud of me , my family , and
27:53
that'd be , like I said , the best way to get
27:55
to me with my email or my YouTube
27:57
channel . And yeah
27:59
, that's it .
28:01
Love it , love it All right . So I'll put that information
28:03
in the show notes to make it easy for
28:06
our listeners to find and follow you Again , Bruce
28:08
. Thank you so much for coming on the show and have
28:10
a great day .
