010 Today in the podcast, I welcome Mark Hatton, an outdoor lover and self-taught historian,  to share his years of experience in developing a real interest in the layers of history we can find in countryside all around us.

Mark advises us to open our eyes and peel back the layers, and we can find a richness of information which can inspire and engage both ourselves and our kids to want to get out and find out more.

Although reference to Scotland in the mapping, the approach and advice should let us all build up curiosity in our children and introduce a new approach to getting our families inspired and getting outdoors.

See the website and podcast page for some of the pictures Mark shared following the discussion.
